Can someone who shops Sephora have any tips to redeeming the free sample coupons that I have been getting in my emails as a Sephora Insider? Most say free sample/product w/ purchase. What is priced low at the store or a good deal that would make getting the sample worth it. Thanks

    • RZ

You can only redeem those promo codes w/ a purchase of either $25 or $35 (depending on the sample, read the email for details). Also, they’re online only so you can’t redeem them at the store. How you define “good deal” is subjective, I guess…but you would have to spend the minimum required in order to get the sample.

I have two offers for samples for free at Sephora inside JCP stores. The JCP/Sephora store I went into was so busy and I felt a little overwhelmed that I didn’t take my time inside the store, so I left without getting anything. (This small town girl was having a little panic attack inside this crowded store, it was “Too Peopley For Me” )

Okay, you didn’t mention that these emails were from Sephora inside JCP initially- hence my confusion lol. Sephora inside JCP’s promos are different from the ones that Sephora offers to Beauty Insiders. Read the fine print of the email- lately, most deluxe samples require some form of purchase (sometimes there’s a minimum and sometimes there isn’t). Sometimes there are just free samples being given out, but there’s an expiration date and they have a limited amount of samples so if you don’t act fast, you’ll miss it. Use the barcode (print it out or save it to your phone). The cheapest items are usually found in the travel-sized items section or Sephora Collection items. They also have JCP-exclusive gift sets that are sometimes a good value, so browse around and see if you can find those.

Any of the sephora brand stuff is reasonably priced. Also my jcp sephora usually has a mark down section. There are also smaller sample sized items by the register. Usually the free sample is never available when I go so keep that in mind.

If you’re interested in maximizing higher-end makeup purchases I would suggest checking out Ulta’s rewards in contrast to Sephora’s. I was a Sephora junkie for years before realizing how much better Ulta’s rewards are just this past holiday season. Some brands are slightly different so that might be a factor (I still visit Sephora and love KVD liquid lipstick not available at Ulta), but they’re overall comparable stores and Ulta sends out samples you can stop in and get with only spending a couple of bucks because of drugstore brands when that’s hard to do at Sephora. Lots of points on this issue but check it out 🙂

I really appreciate all the replys. I will be going back to the store later this week, also Ultra opened a store near by so I will check them out to. Thanks and Happy Couponing.

How do you get those coupons? Are you able to provide a link to sign up?

          • Bethany

Start shopping in Sephora in JCP using your beauty insider card. If you hit VIB, get a new account as the VIB email list excludes SiJCP offers. I’ve gone MANY rounds with Sephora on this issue. I now have multiple Sephora accounts, one is VIB so I get the online VIB offers, the other one is BI and I only use it in SiJCP so I can get the SiJCP freebies.

    • Bethany

The only samples I jump I are the ones for VIBs. Most of the Sephora in JCP samples aren’t worth it unless it’s a mascara or something else you can’t get a sample of in store.

I have the eyeshadow palettes in a variety of colors and they are wonderful! They look great and stay on all day!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! Good to know how well they wear! Thanks for sharing!

Anyone recommend a good eye shadow primer? I have oily lids and have tried several expensive and drugstore ones and they still crease? Thanks!

    • Lysh

Not sure if you tried the NARS one but that one worked great for me! I’ve also heard good things about the Milani one. I’ve also had good results with just using my Urban Decay complete coverage concealer as a lid primer.

    • S

Have you tried too face eyeshadow insurance or Urban decay primer potion ? Those two work equally well for me! 🙂

    • Mandy

Another cheap one to try is E.L.F. Shadow Lock Eye Primer. It is comparable to Bare Minerals for me! For $2 it’s worth a try. Lasts around 10-12 hours. ELF.com has free shipping often, or I think Walmart and Target sell it too.

Urban Decay primer is the best ever!!

Ditto for me-Urban Decay primer (anti-age). Smashbox eye primer is pretty good too.
