    None near Pittsburgh affected.

  2. Krissy

Sad! My first job was a teller at my small towns store which is now closing, I’ve still been in touch with my old managers (16 years later!)
A loss to my hometown for sure.

  3. Laura L

Has anyone been to a JcPenny’s clearance? The Kmart clearance was horrible. Small discounts and it looked like they brought in overstock stuff from other stores.

    • Trisha Spangler

The Kmart clearance last day was 80-90% off. We got 3 carts full of goodies! Have never been to Jcpenneys but my bet is the closer they are to closing (last day) the better the clearance is.

      • Valerie

Our JCP closed a few years ago. I made many trips. Not great deals, they do not except coupons when a store is closing. But many things were over picked early on. Lots of crap items the longer you wait.

    • Heather

Our Kmart just closed before Christmas. I remember going in during their big clearance sales, and telling the hubby that I got better deals BEFORE the clearance sales….everyone in the store was losing their mind over 40-50% off…and I thought to myself that if people had supported the store like this all the time, it wouldn’t be closing (or not as soon as it did…)

  4. Jen

Ours is closing…small town and the two anchor stores in our mall are Gordmans and jcpenney..both closing. Pretty sad.

  5. megan m

    Ours is closing… Sad.

  6. Michelle

One of ours closed 3 years ago and now the other one is closing….so sad 😭

  7. Becky

Ours is closing and my mother-in-law is loosing her job. Kind of expected it though because the mall has lost half of it’s stores already.

  8. Diane

    Ours is closing 🙁

  9. megan

Sad! I’m glad ours is not on the list. We are running out of places to shop at!

  10. D

Off the topic, does anyone have JCPenny home sale coupon $50/$100 exp 03/29 that you are not using. Can I PLEASE have it? I received one and my husband accidentally tossed it out :(((. Please email emc4kids@gmail.com

    • Susan K

      Just sent.

  11. Deb

The Richmond Town Square (Richmond Mall) store is closing. It was going to be the only remaining anchor store, since the other one, Sears, is also leaving. Guess that means that Northeast Ohio (Cleveland area) has yet another dead mall…

    • Denise

Hi Deb nice hear from a Cleveland girl! I’m in the mentor area.

  12. Denise

That is sad and sorry to hear of all the jobs that will be lost. I wonder if at some point we will be left with just mail order. No trying on pants or shoes before purchasing would be hard.

  13. Meghan

Ours is one.. ;( And it’s right next to the Kmart that will more than likely be closing too.. That means the next closest store is 40 minutes away for walmart

  14. Dee

Sad for the jobs that are gone, but i never shop at the store, they never have smaller sizes in stock so i quit going.

  15. Sarah

Ugh… Mine is on the list. 😢 Not super surprising, since I live in a small rural town, and the store was very small… But I sure am going to miss it in my small town with limited shopping options! Their in store pickup was so great! 😔😩😢

    • Heather

I’m in the same boat. 🙁

  16. SummerSun

Ours is closing in MN.. was built brand new, only 3 years ago!

    • Brandy

Would anyone have a $50 off $100 home goods purchase they will not be using ? If so I would love to have the coupon
      huddles23@yahoo.com Thanks!!

  17. Renee

Thankfully mine isn’t closing. I’ve been there several times this month already because they give out those $10 off $10 coupons like candy. I mostly shop clearance so I’m spending next to nothing when I use my coupons on clearance stuff. I feel bad that I’m part of the problem but they make it too easy and I love what I’ve been able to find!

    • Susan

I keep getting those coupons too and I feel if I don’t use them it’s like throwing money away. I also only shop the clearance with them. In fact I was just there yesterday and found stuff marked down 80%!. My husband always jokes that I’m putting them out of business. Well at least the store I shop at is staying for now:)

  18. Erica

Ours is closing!!!! The only store with selection and name brands around, as our other retailers closed last November. The entire mall, with the exception of BonTon is wiped out. So sad for the town and their employees/customers. RIP Jc Penney in Martinsburg WV. 😭

    • Carmen

Oh no!!! I didn’t even look at WV stores. I used to be a manager at the Winchester, VA location. So incredibly sad for the company.

    • Bethany

That store is just south of me—–I don’t shop there but will be contacting them to see when they’re going to start selling store fixtures. I got a bunch of display stuff when Macys closed and sad to say I’ve been stalking these store closure lists waiting for another store to close.

  19. Krissy

Yeah! Ours is safe…for now. We were on the Feb. list of possible closures but I guess we dodged this bullet. Love Penney’s this makes me sad:(

    • Steph

Thankful mine in Fort Wayne made the cut too. We were on the potential closing list. Hate to see so many good stores go!

  20. Bob

Mine is closing in Mn No place left in town to buy clothes now because Walmart’s clothes is blah.

  21. Nana Donna 2 6

Cedar Rapids and Coralville (Iowa) are safe… So far. 4 others, however, are closing. JCP has been around for over 60 years. Sad to see these big stores are closing.

  22. Bluewatergirl

Ours is on the list. I live in Charleston, SC and there are tons of great places to shop. I think it just couldn’t compete, especially when a few other anchor stores in the mall are Dillard’s, Belk, and Target.

    • Amy

      A fellow west Ashley couponer?!

      • MB

West Ashley gal right here! Live close to Citadel Mall. Keep hearing reports that it was gonna be revamped but doesn’t seem like it. Glad to see some other Charleston people on H2S!!

    • maria

      Johns Islander right here!

  23. Melissa

One in my city is closing. But it is no big shocker. It is in a mall that is in serious decline. I am more surprised that the store did not close at least 5 years ago.

  24. Heather

Our little town of Macomb, IL is losing ours. Just lost Kmart before Christmas. 😭

  25. MommaE

I can’t believe the one at the King of Prussia mall is closing. I mean that mall is huge and always busy but I guess they didn’t make the cut!

    • Heather Seibel

I was just in there the other day!

  26. Paige

We live in a small city, but for our region one of the biggest cities. 4 are closing in the smaller towns in our region. We are safe, for now, thank the Lord! I am very sad for the people losing their jobs. It sounds like the majority of the stores are in areas where it won’t be easy to find a new job. 🙁

  27. Heather Seibel

The King of Prussia store is closing and we are in the biggest mall 🙁

  28. Indhu

Anyone having a jcp 10 off 10 coupon you won’t be using pls email Hip2Save.shopping@gmail.com
I have a Eddie Bauer $10 certificate , free ice cream from baskin Robbins

  29. Ashley

Ours is closing. It is the only reasonable store in our area with great quality. Walmart is our only option once they are gone. I guess I will have to drive an hour and a half to find good quality and prices. It only hurts our town. I am very sad. They even got high sale awards this last year. I don’t get it.

  30. Nina

A lot of these stores are probably losing a lot of money so makes sense. I often wonder how some of these department stores stay open, when you enter n can hear crickets, like the Sears by us..Unfortunately people losing jobs is the difficult part.

  31. Roli james

Ours is in the list. When is the best time to go for shopping for clearance stock ?

  32. Anastasia

Ours is closing here at King of Prussia Mall the largest mall on the East Coast. Was so surprised to see it on the list.
