These also work for an adult female. I have the purple one and use it for short hikes and wore it for a spartan race last summer. It’s super light and doesn’t bounce or chafe 🙂

Oh cool! Thanks for sharing your feedback Claire!

Agree! I have one too and it is the perfect size for about a 2 hour max hike in hot sunny AZ!

This is a great price! I bought 2 for my kids when they were 4 and 6 years old, they are great! Hold enough water and snacks for them and they can shove a jacket back there too. I highly recommend them.

Sweet! Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

We’ve had these for 2 years. My girls are 5 and 7 now. We love them! We hike quite a bit and these are perfect. They especially like the whistle ( they are allowed to test it once then they need to save it for an emergency).

They are a great way to get kids to start packing their own gear. I only fill them with about 16 ounces of water. They also carry their snacks and a couple bandaids and fleece if they shed it while hiking.

They will be able to use them for several years. And I agree they fit a smaller adult, but wouldn’t his enough water for a long hike or outing.

They have biked with them, too.

How do you keep it clean?

      • Jen D

The bladder is removable, I take it out of the pack and clean the inside with my hands or a cloth and hot soapy water, which can also be run down the hose if you squeeze the bite valve. You can also fill to the top with a diluted bleach solution and screw on the lid/allow to fill the hose/leave for a few hours to really disinfect. HTH!

Thanks for the awesome review! Good to know how well they have held up!

If you have a Sierra Trading Post locally or can swing free shipping with them somehow, you can get these for $23.99 if you receive their emails — you should have one for 20% off a purchase in your inbox right now 🙂 If not, I would consider signing up for emails (you might get better than 20% for your first email) and then order. Don’t forget to look for cash back through the various sites before purchasing too!
