Question to parents who are doing the teacher signing of the places you will go. I have 3 kiddos and have been asking the teachers to sign for all 3 of my kids. My oldest is in middle school. Is it weird to ask the teachers to sign it after elementary or do you go all the way to high school?

Good question Jackie I would like to know what others think too.

As a former HS teacher, here’s my two cents: Teachers have 120+ students each year (more if they have semester length classes). Teachers already sign yearbooks and teachers of seniors write lots of letters of recommendation for college and scholarships. That’s a lot of time on teachers already. And it seems that everybody is doing these book signings now. So just think about how many requests the teachers must get for these. Not saying your kids’ teachers wouldn’t be happy to do it, but it would have been one extra thing at the end of the year for me…on top of grading final exams and projects, assigning grades, etc.

All the teachers that we have had are more than happy to do it. Some of them have even sent papers home at the end of the year reminding parents that if they want any books signed to send them with their kiddos. They always take the time to write very kind words that I know my kids will cherish and remember their teachers by. My question was more related to my son, I didn’t want to embarrass him by giving it to his middle school teachers.

I should also add that our schools are small. Nowhere near 120 students. Yikes, I totally get your point as a teacher, believe me 😬. Our schools have 60 kids max per grades
