Have you recently purchased a garbage disposal?

If so, you may be interested to know that there is a recall for VARIOUS garbage disposals including brands like Barracuda, Waste King, Kenmore, Luxart, Frigidaire and more due to a metal component inside the disposal that can break off and come out of the disposal during use. To see the full list of disposals included in this recall, head here and select your brand.

These recalled disposals were sold by Best Buy, HD Supply, Menards, and plumbing supply stores nationwide and online at Amazon, Costco, HomeDepot, Walmart and other sites from December 2015 through March 2017 for between $80 and $370 for ¾ horsepower models and $100 and $450 for 1 horsepower models.

If you did in fact purchase one of the disposals listed HERE, immediately stop using the recalled garbage disposal and then be sure to contact Anaheim manufacturing at 1-800-628-0797 from 8AM to 5PM ET on Monday through Friday OR online to arrange for a free replacement disposal to be installed at no cost to you.

I just got a super duper one less than a year ago. They’re gonna charge me to change it out. The recall should pay for these!

Heather, I found this in the FAQs:

      How much will this cost?
Nothing. We are replacing the affected disposal units at no cost to you.

I’m not sure who you can contact to resolve this, but there is a “Contact Us” link at the top of the page – maybe they can help?

        Thanks, Jen!

We haven’t installed ours yet for a few reasons. It’s still in the box. The email I got today said, “contact Anaheim Manufacturing to arrange for a free replacement disposal to be installed at no cost to the consumer.” Does this mean they will provide a replacement and install it for us? Even though we haven’t installed the defective one? Thoughts?

You could always give them a call for more information. 1-800-628-0797

How dangerous! I always have DH run the disposal. I don’t like them in general. It’s scary, noisy & am always afraid of something sharp flying out! The for the post, ours is listed, much appreciated!

      You’re most welcome!

I’m sure glad we did not buy the ones on the recall. We bought InSinkErator Evolution 1-HP. Worth every penny of $339. So quiet. If you are looking to replace choose this one.

    • Erin

I think we have the same one. So quiet! Worth the money.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the feedback Sue!

Is the problem taken care of if I purchase one today?
