Anyone ever have a problem with their ExtraBucks not scanning? I’ve never had an issue until this morning when my $6 EB reward wouldn’t work. I double checked everything…my card matched, my transaction was above $6, the expiration date was not until 05/15. No idea what went wrong but the cashier wouldn’t take it 🙁 I thought of all problems, the EBs would be the least to cause trouble.
Yes that has happen to me a few times and never had a problem with them denying them you should ask to speak to a manager.

Thats happened to me before, and its usually because the barcode is a tiny bit faded. But the cashier should manually enter the barcode number, and the same goes for any coupon that was printed from the red coupon machine.
Yes just recently actually. Bar code was light so wouldn’t scan. However the new register update removed the cvs coupon option for them, only manufacturer coupon option left. Supposedly they are not to use that unless mgr approval.
My ecbs and crts were also not scanning. I would literally stand at the counter with a confused cashier and manager. Everything was correct, not expired, my cvs card # etc. The register was telling them they were expired, clearly they were not. I called the #on my card and he said “well that is quite a story, no one has ever called saying that.” Basically there was no resolution.

It has happened to me many times at our store because the the cash registers and “magic” coupon machine were printing them so lightly the UPC couldn’t be read by the scanner. They always had to manually punch in the numbers – it became common place at our store. How sad to learn that option was taken away after a recent update (according to one response below) and now requires a manager’s approval. There must be some pretty sophisticated scammers out there that have gotten away with a lot fraudulent transactions to result in this type of “crack down”. Hate it when a few ruin it for the rest of us. Take Target’s new coupon policy – if it beeps don’t take it (even if you can see it was cut from the insert and the person is purchasing the correct product). Just sad sometimes.
I would take those extra bucks to a different CVS if that is convenient for you 🙂
Also my manager would do everything within his power to make my extra bucks or coupons work. I wish I could share him. 😀

I was at CVS yesterday using some coupons and had an issue (when they scanned the CVS store coupon, it bumped my EBs off). The employee called her manager and he explained to me that recently they’ve made a change to their computer system where now it scans the coupons in a predetermined order. I asked him what order, he didn’t know and said “it might be on corporates website or one of those coupon sites like “xyz” – it’s so that people cannot “game the system” anymore”. I thought it was pretty rude and told him curtly that in no way shape or form am I trying to “game the system” – I want to know what the rules are so that I can follow them! ugh!!
I just don’t get that! They make them all available and then suggest people are trying to game the system?? I have a 30% off email coupon and a $3 off cvs makeup coupon they mailed me and I have $2 ebs. Hoping there’s no drama today……these should all be stackable because what I am buying is not on sale.
I was actually able to use my 30% off email coupon and all my ECs with no problem today. The 20% off always causes me trouble but today must be my lucky day lol. I was able to buy 1 scope mouthwash, 3 aveeno shave gels, and 2 clairol hair dyes all for 50 cents! Thank goodness for that 30% because it would’ve cost me a lot more!
