I bought this product based on seeing a friend throw a 3 year old into the deep end of a swimming pool while wearing this. The child simply floated back to the surface and calmly doggy paddled back to the ladder to climb out and be tossed back in again. Super supportive float!

This is a good quality float. My 3 year old has used it and it worked well and kept her above water in a pool. She loves wearing it and it seems to fit comfortably because she does not complain. It is very adjustable so it should fit for a while. She is around 36 pounds and 3+1/2 feet tall and it is adjusted almost as small as it will go right now so it should last for a while.

Honestly, the best little life jacket I’ve gotten for my kids! I purchased one for my 5 yr old daughter and this orange one for my son who just turned 3. Neither of my kids can swim yet and have always had to wear full sized life jackets in the past. After reading a few reviews for these, we gave them a try. Best. purchase. Ever!

Please be careful with these. They are NOT life jackets. Kids need to be heavily supervised when using them and they are not for emergencies (don’t use them boating, for example). If the kid were to be unconscious, the natural floatation could be face down, depending on the weight of the child.

I totally agree. My kids used these when they were transitioning between life jackets and swimming on their own.

They’re actually coast guard rated for boating. Some have said old school life jackets had their kids facing forward, while these put them on their backs.

  2. Lindsey

They are actually coast guard rated life jackets. We’ve used them for yrs with no issues. Just ordered another one. Great price! Thank you!

    • Darcie

Agree! These are great “official” life jackets. The fit is so much better than a traditional life jacket.

    • Amy

Yes! We have used ours a ton, including in situations where our flotation devices had to be verified as coast guard rated. The way the flotation material is situated is designed to keep them upright and face out of the water– in fact my son has to put a good bit of effort into putting his face in the water even for a few seconds to blow bubbles etc because it pops him back upright. Just make sure of course that you have the suit snug and clipped. A game changer compared to inflatable arm floaties and bulky jackets with crotch straps.

      You’re so welcome Lindsey!

Any child using these obviously should be heavily supervised, not sure who would put one of these on and leave their little one unattended. That being said, these are AMAZING when teaching your toddler how to swim… highly recommend these!

      Thanks for the feedback Julie!

These actually ARE coast guard approved life jackets. My kids always whined about life jackets and how uncomfortable they are. They actually wear these without complaining. As another person said, they are designed to help keep their face out of the water too.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad to hear these have been comfortable for your kids to wear Shelly! Thanks so much for sharing your experience! 🙂

  5. Adriaddiemom

I agree with others that these are coast guard approved and are great for boating.

  6. Becky

These will not keep your child’s head above water if the water is rough or if they are unconscious. for boating you should always use a life jacket with a headrest for in the event of them getting separated from you and being unconscious.

  7. Shannon

These are to help your child learn to swim not save their life. I think parents get that? They are great I have 2.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the review Shannon!

  8. Chrissy

We use the coast guard approve ones for years while boating. My daughter is 7 and still wears one due to her weight. These are perfect! Now when we are tubing she wears a regular life vest but for just swimming and riding around we use the Puddle Jumpers.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for sharing Chrissy! Happy to hear these have worked well for your daughter!

Thanks so much! And Happy Mothers Day to you Collin & Crew!

Love these. My 21 month old (at the time) would just jump in the deep end of the pool and swim around while wearing his. My 3.5 year old loved going in the deep water with it as well. Great for teaching them how to swim.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the feedback Autumn! Glad to hear how well these worked for your kids!

Thanks for this! We were at a metro park yesterday & they had paddle boats, but the life jackets they had wouldn’t fit our 2 year old. I thought about getting one of these & then saw them on sale! We’re not big time boaters or water people in general so I figured it would be good enough until she’s a little older & gets into more water situations. Thought it would also be good when she first starts her swimming class.
