I will say this model is terrible. Think twice. Your ice will stink to high heaven because it is “open” in the bottom.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer 🙁 Thanks for the review!

  2. jen

I have all newer Samsung appliances and will never ever again bug this brand, by far worse products.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Sorry to hear you have not liked this brand. Thanks so much for the honest feedback!

I’m hoping we like this model, just bought it on sale at Lowe’s 30% off plus did rebate for buying 3 Samsung appliances. it has to be better than what we have now, reviews are good plus we opted for the ice maker on bottom to save a few hundred dollars mainly because we don’t use ice and gives more shelf space where ice machine would be on top. I think the last time I used ice from my freezer was when I was pregnant with my son 3 years ago. Tip for buying alot in store at Lowe’s..when spending $1,500 Or more at a time ask to get a QSP qoute, they will send the total amount to coorperate and within 20 mins come back with a % off ranging usually from 15-20something % off, we saved 18% off our appliances(on top of sale and rebate) and 15% off our flooring(over $750 off!) Plus getting $150 back from rebate

    • Lindsey

      Wow! That’s a cool trick I didn’t know. What’s QSP stand for?

      • Jessica

Honestly I don’t remember, we are in process of building a house and luckily an employee at one Lowe’s told us about it and we’ve had no issues doing them at 2 other Lowe’s. It’s a way to keep you from going to a competitor to get a possible better deal. Not sure if home depot has anything like that but apparently it used to only be used by contractors because it wasn’t a known thing to general public but anyone can use it, we are actually going today to get bathroom vanities and plan to use it again 🙂

QSP stands for Quote Support Program. I believe Home Depot offers something similar called Volume Pricing Discounts for Professionals through their Pro Xtra Membership.

We have a Samsung. So did my parents. Awful. Ours freezes up and makes knocking sounds, leaks from underneath. We have to turn off and empty. My parents after over 30 service calls got theirs replaced with another brand

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Sorry to hear they did not work well. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

Does anyone have the black stainless? Does it show fingerprints and smudges like other ss? Would love to hear some feedback?

    • Jessica

When we went looking for ours we looked specifically for ones that didn’t leave smears, prints all over and the black stainless steel and brushed steel were the 2 we found that didn’t unlike regular stainless steel.

    • Gretchen

We also like black stainless steel. We opted not to get it because 1. You have to go with all one brand of appliances. Black stainless looks different from brand to brand. 2. I’ve read it scratches very easily and the black wears off the edges. Maybe someone out there has bought it and has had a positive experience?

Beware! Samsung refrigerators are total crap! We have a Samsung refrigerator with ice and water in the door and bottom ice maker. Both ice makers and the water in the door stopped working. My MIL has the same model and her ice maker has also broken. Luckily, she had a warranty so it has been fixed…for now at least. I also have a friend whose Samsung refrigerator flooded her kitchen. We are replacing ours with a different brand! Needless to say, I wouldn’t buy a Samsung refrigerator no matter how cheap it was!

    • shopngeek

Totally with you! Their cellphone may be good, but home appliances are crap!

  7. melloddie

We have this in stainless steel for about 8 years now, it has recently just started pooling water and freezing up on the bottom trays of the fridge part. But if you Google it, it just needs the tube to be cleaned /drained and buy a small piece of plastic stopper(Amazon /eBay sells them). I believe the latest models all comes with this sort of stopper so shouldn’t be an issue. As for fingerprints, we use the Weiman Stainless Steel Wipes and that lasts for months. I say overall it’s great.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Thanks for the helpful tips! Good to know!

As an alternative to this model….Lowes has a similar Whirlpool for the same price. I had oiginally wanted this one but because of the reviews did a bit of research and ended up with the whirlpool, same size same door configurarion.

  9. shopngeek

Please think twice before buy Samsung refrigerator, we bought a similar one (with water/ice dispenser). The back panel starts leaking after about 3 years. We had to take apart the whole inner panel and use duck tape to fix it. errrrrr….

Don’t waste your money! I have a samsung french door but with ice and water dispenser in the door. We bought it from Conn’s with a warranty, and I am not kidding when I say the service guy has been out at least 5 times in 2.5 years for various issues. Ice maker freezing up, ice maker not making ice and dispensing melting/wet ice, leaking from the dispenser onto the floor, a noise issue, freezer door not opening all the way…he said that Samsung appliances make up at least 50% of his service calls and to stick with trusted brands like Whirlpool and GE. I can’t wait to put this thing in the garage as an extra fridge and get one with less issues!!

  11. Jenn

My parents have Samsung refrigerator it’s horrible always freezing up. Makes awful sounds… highly recommend not to buy Samsung refrigerators.

  12. Tad

  13. Lynn

Ok I’m rebuilding my Home after We lost everything in a fire last November… If anybody can Please give me some positive advice on appliances I’m so confused on what to buy now… I no we had went through two fridges within 10 years before but I’m not sure the brand and this time I wanted to go with stainless steal also French doors. I have to buy the entire kitchen and things are really getting tight at this point. Any feed back would be appreciated.. Oh I was wondering if anybody had any knowledge on Sears Pricing . Thanks

    • Anita

Fridgedaire! I’ve had 4 piece stainless steel for 10+ years with NO problems. Currently building a new house that comes with Kenmore & will be buying another Frigedaire refrigerator

    • Tad

Best Buy is going to beat sears and if they don’t they price match. Also great savings now through July 12 I think on major appLiances. LG is some of the top, followed by select samsung models (watch reviews) and whirlpool has stepped their game back up and has a good reputation again.

  14. Lynn Brown

Thanks so much for the advice we need all the help we can get there’s just so much on the market and to me this is a huge purchase . But I’m definitely going to check out Best Buy they seem to have a good reputation of standing behind their products atleast that’s my experience. Have a Great Sunday everyone

  15. Lori

Thanks for this post. I purchased a GE fridge a week ago from Home Depot and decided to check the price because of this post. It is about $100 cheaper now than what I pd. So I called and they price adjusted for me. Great service!
