Cheap dinner idea!

Head to your local Costco and see if they have this new Rotisserie Chicken Dinner Deal in the deli section! Each package contains three half rotisserie chickens with BBQ glaze, 1 lb. green beans and 1 lb. mac and cheese for just $15.99! Yum!

Check out what one HIP2SAVE reader had to say…

It includes 3 chicken halves (yes – a full half chicken) in a light bbq sauce, approx 1 lb of green beans and 1 lb of Costco’s mac and cheese. The chicken bakes for 1 hour (covered with foil on a baking sheet), the green beans and mac and cheese bake for 45 minutes (covered in foil) in their containers on a baking sheet. It worked for our very diverse diet family, although my son thought the BBQ sauce was a bit sweet. We are a family of 5 adult size appetites!

(Thanks, Cindy!)

We had this a few weeks ago and it was GREAT! For 4 people, we ate most of the sides and a half chicken for dinner. So we had 2 more half chickens to use later. I kinda wish there was a little less chicken and more sides so that it perhaps could have been 2 full meals.

Thanks for sharing your experience Betsy! Good to know how this was a yummy deal for your family!

Oh yum. Temps might be mild enough to turn on the oven this weekend so might have to swing by Costco.

Do they only offer the mac & cheese + green beans sides?
Or do they have more varieties?

    • Jenny

I have only seen the mac & cheese + green beans as sides but they are really good!!!
The mac & cheese is delicious!

  4. Kristyn

These are really good! Highly recommend!

Thanks for the feedback, Kristyn! 😀

Tried it in Detroit area. Did not like. The BBQ sauce was super sweet. Not enough of sides. A whole chicken is 4.99 so a chicken and a half is $7.50. A pound of green beans in my area is around a dollar a pound. So I’m paying an extra $7 for a pound of gritty mac n cheese???? Not a good deal in my book!

    • Jenny

      Exactly!

  6. AJ

The mac & cheese looks like mashed potatoes with shredded cheese?

    • Cara

I thought it was a loaded baked potato, lol

It looked like a good deal but unlike many other meals that I have enjoyed from Costco, this one was not tasty at all. I would never buy it again. Their regular cooked chickens for 4.99 are wonderful. Just get that and one of their mac and cheese to go and you’ll be much happier.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Bummer! Thanks for the honest review Holly! Sorry to hear you did not care for this dinner 🙁

      • Nichevo

I suggest you make the sides modular. Make half portions of the e.g. mac & cheese, veg mix, whatever that you can take 2 of with your chicken and make a meal. Maybe a bagged or clamshelled salad as side option.

Nothing could be better than your fresh hot chickens so while the 3 half chix with BBQ sauce is clever reuse of old chickens, you’re locked into the BBQ sauce, and also the mac/beans combo. Low carb dieters will sigh and walk on.

We cooked ours on the grill. We have had it twice and have enjoyed it both times.

We loved this meal! I have two small children who don’t eat much so I vacuum sealed and froze two of the three chickens. One was plenty for us all and I have since used the other chicken for dinner and tasted just as good as it did the first time! I hope Costco makes this a regular thing. Has anyone tried other meals from Costco that were yummy? I’m trying to keep sane with two Little ones and make dinners as easy as possible these days.

What temps do you cook them on??

So I heard that the Roastissee chickens shrunk in size is this true?? Also I saw that there muffin from the bakery r about half the size that they used to be!!!!!!!
