Hello, Gymboree. It’s Me! Call Me Back When You REALLY Have a Final Sale

As I mentioned yesterday, Gymboree is closing approximately 350 stores mainly across the Gymboree and Crazy 8 brand as part of their Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. To see if you live near a store that will indeed be closing, head here and select your state from the drop-down menu.

If you do indeed live near a closing store, Gymboree is hoping you’ll race over there to shop the Store Closing Sale with promises of savings of as much as 50% off the lowest ticket price.

But WAIT, you eager beaver you! ✋🏻

Before you lace up your running shoes and sprint to the store, check out what I spotted at my local Gymboree here in Boise, Idaho (and yes, my store is listed as one of the stores that will be closing soon). OR more importantly, check out what I did NOT spot. Yoo-Hoo, DEALS – where are you? 🤷‍♀️

Here are a few deals non-deals I spotted (and yes, my store was only offering up 30% off everything):

Girl’s Iridescent Sandals $21.99 (regularly $32.95)
$15.39 after additional 30% off

Assorted Toddler Pink Sandals $9.99 (regularly $21.95)
$7.99 after additional 30% off

Aqua 1-Piece Girl’s Swimsuit $15.99 (regularly $26.95)
$11.19 after additional 30% off

Infant/Toddler Dino Rashguard $20.99 (regularly $22.95)
$14.69 after additional 30% off

Toddler Girl’s Fish Bubble Shorts $8.99 (regularly $16.95)
$6.29 after additional 30% off

Assorted Socks $4.99 (regularly $6.95)
$3.49 after additional 30% off

      😉

  2. Blessed

Lands end in a closing Sears had clearly ripped off old clearance tags and offering 30% off. When you could literally go down the street to another Sears and get better deals

  3. Vicki

After our Sears closed, our Kmart appeared to have a lot of their left over inventory. It looked as though they pretty much just replaced the Sears tags with Kmart tags.

  4. Tony

… annnnd they wonder why they’re going out of business…smh

  5. Marina

Naartjie not Gymboree/Crazy8. =( So sad.

  6. Elizabeth

My Kmart is closing and they put higher prices on almost everything. I was looking at a baby bath, it was 20 dollars on Amazon and 18 dollars WITH the percentage off at Kmart 😂

  8. mrsbrzozowski

I couldn’t believe the prices. I did better there when they were having a regular sale. Signage was also very confusing.

  9. Chrissie

My local Gymboree said it could be another 6 months before they actually close the store, so I will hold out a while longer.

  10. Angela

I called crazy 8 for an update. They’re closing but no ETA. In addition, they’re only 30% off. Save your gas!

  11. Lisa

Same thing happened to me no sales worth buying same with Kmart they claimed 40% but once at the register watch yourself I bought character tops for my son 8.99 and @40%ringing up 6.39 that is not 40% so if you don’t catch it they will gladly take your money … I must of made the guy at the register nervous because he ended up giving me 40 % off 6.39 so after about the 5th top he was done with me 😊…so be careful at register !

I went to the mall last weekend and thought the Gymboree was closing there; but I couldn’t tell from the signs on the window. It just said up to 50% off. Which Children’s Place closed they were like 60-70% off. Typically I can only afford Gymboree a the thrift stores lol. Last year we found a great sale at Crazy 8, shirts were like $2 or $3 dollars.

  13. Fish

I went to a closing Gymboree yesterday with disappointed. The “sale” price is more expensive than the normal sale season. The top is 30%, pants 40%, and even cannot use extra 20% off coupon. I end up buy nothing. However, the Crazy 8 which in the same mall won’t be closed is having big sale! 60% off for all clearance. They said they need to clear up room for back to school clothing. I bought a nice $8 sweater.

  14. Lindsey

Its true, that’s not much of a sale. I only shop Gymboree when they do additional 40-50% off their clearance prices and will wait to combine that WITH a 15 o 20% off coupon. In the last couple months, I have scored shorts for $3-4 and t-shirts between $2.50-$4.00. Seems like they are just trying to lure people in with their tricky marketing. Not this frugal mama!

  15. Beth

I actually just found several of those exact items on Amazon Prime for the same price or cheaper right now.

  16. Stephanie

I usually wait a while before checking out a store closing sale. 75% or more off is what I’m looking for and they don’t have those offers for quite some time. I can get 30% off as a sale price and not a final sale any time.

  17. Connie

I agree the pjs went up from $6.00 to $15.00..

  18. saverjes

    😂

  19. Nicole

Oh my. That Dino top was $6 over the weekend online.

  20. Abby H

This, just happened to me at children’s place. Original price $16.95, lowered to the price $16.94, 60% off lowest ticket price…really??

  21. Mel

I checked out Crazy 8 today because I was near there anyway (definitely not worth a drive just for going there)…one of the dresses I liked was cheaper to buy online 😂

  22. Britt

I thought the same thing! I grabbed my Gymbucks and ran to my closing Gymboree during my lunch break and was pretty bummed! I saw better deals on-line!

  23. Janet

A third party company is brought in to handle store closings, big discounts aren’t offered until the last few days when everything is already picked through.

    • Amy

Yep I went through this with my last company…. third party liquidators dictate the percentages based on sell through and timeline agreed upon by judge in court. Gymboree as a company has no say in goods at closing locations as that merchandise was bought by the liquidation company and they now run the sale using Gymboree employees.

  24. Lynnette

While those prices aren’t big savings, if you couple with a 20% coupon the prices aren’t actually too bad.

    • Angela Webb

You can’t use any coupons with the closing stores.

  25. A.Rich

And they wonder why stores are going out of business, when most things can be bought cheaper online. Sad but true and honestly I can’t believe no one is mentioning the bigger issue that the quality is crap everything I have ever purchased my children from Gymboree fades and shrinks with one wash.

  26. Mamamiautumn

That’s hilarious bc when I was in Branson, MO July 4th the Gymboree outlet (which is not going out of business) had an awesome sale! Everything In the store was 9.99 and under! I bout my baby a train shirt and two pack of matching socks for like $4 I believe. They were on clearance and done of the clearance was an extra percentage off. 😀

    • Mamamiautumn

*bought and *some of the clearance.

  27. Megan

I always ask them to scan stuff at my Gymboree before I commit to buying it. They never have it ticketed right. I asked about it one time and they said there were just too many markdowns and they didn’t have time to do.

  28. Angela Webb

I stopped at one yesterday and felt supreme let down too.

  29. Ruthie

I agree! I made a special trip to check out the “deals” and left without buying anything. Their stuff is so overpriced to begin and they have 30% off sales all the time anyway!

  30. Hannah

I have several gymboree and crazy 8 coupons if anyone wants the code. I don’t do shopping online much 🙂 hbaisdon@gmail.com

  31. Olivia

You should know that tops and accessories are 30% off bottoms and shoes are 40% off and outerwear is 50% off. For closing stores.

  32. Soni

So I went to Crazy 8 yesterday and it was closing. There were signs every where stating that the clothes were going at 30%, 40% and 50% discount. They don’t know when they will close. I’ll probably go back there again in a couple of months, before Halloween.
