Ohh thank you I got that email last night and I was hesitant cause I know I don’t have that many stars lol

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome!

  2. k

I was a little surprised when I got a notification but sounds great. Mobile orders are fine I’m assuming?

It is so easy to STAY gold once you’ve gotten there! My husband and I both have good status, and Starbucks emails is a new mission every few days that awards plenty of stars. I currently have SIX FREE ITEMS in my app, because around Christmas they sent us so many “make a purchase and get 100+ stars” missions. And we don’t even go to Starbucks that often! We just take advantage of the email missions and keep the freebies coming! 🙂

    • Amber

Just make sure you keep an eye on when stars expire, I wouldn’t want to see you loose any! 😀

      • dealhousewife

Learned that the hard way. 🙁 didn’t think about an expiration date, because I never saw one. Then when my free item wasn’t there, I realized that it was because stars expired… :/

        • mel

You should get a notification through the app that you have stars expiring. (unless you don’t have the notifications turned on?)

          • dealhousewife

hmmm, I don’t like getting every little notification, so yes, I have them turned off. Guess I should turn them on though, or at least when I have a freebie! lol thanks!

    • Jennifer

Nice! Thanks for the inspiration. I just downloaded the app last month and got gold status this week with the bonus stars promo

    • Svetlana

how did you sign up for the emails, i get emails from them very rare and they are not that good. I go to Starbucks at least 3-4 times a week

      • riss

If you have registered card, then you should get the emails. Or maybe, the reason why you don’t get the email is because you go to Starbucks frequently. They don’t need to entice you to come and buy. I only go maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks. My son who never ever goes, but I have a card on his account which I use sometimes, gets way better deal than me. But it’s not fair for you who spends a lot of $$ on Starbucks.

    • Allison 💙

I do stay on top of when they expire 🙂
To the person who asked about emails – I would make sure they aren’t going in your spam folder. I probably get 3-4 emails per week, and I visit Starbucks maybe once a month. We don’t have one in our town so it’s a treat when we’re out and about.

Hi how do you see if you have rewards available on the ap? I had 150 stars this morning and bought an item to get gold statues now I have gold membership and 75 stars. Do the stars disappear when you reach gold? or did I earn an item and just don’t know where to look for it?

  4. Anna

Would this work at a Target? It would be great to combine it with the cartwheel for half off teas.

    • Sarah

I’m also wondering if this works at target.

    • Jes

You earn stars at the target Starbucks
And can use rewards there. And I earn bonus stars there all the time. The purchase will count

    • Bridgette

I earned it this morning at target

  5. Surgibelle

If you are already a Gokd member, will it extend it for an additional year ?

    • Chris

This is only for Green level members.

  6. Carol W

I just used my about to expire stars to purchase tea at Teavana. 125 stars = one free drink OR one ounce if tea. Go for the top shelf teas that are $10-12 an ounce.

    • Riss

My friend and I do this, too. Earn rewards from Starbucks and use the reward at Teavana. Monkey-picked oolong is a strong tea (which I like) and expensive, so that’s what I usually get.

  7. C

    What is green level members?

    • Glenn

The entry level of their rewards program. Not quite as many perks.

  8. Glenn

My birthday is this weekend and I actually got my “birthday reward is loaded” e-mail shortly after this one. I was curious whether my “freebie” would count as a “purchase”. Probably will pick up a water or cake pop or something cheap later ’cause I doubt it would.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Happy Birthday Glenn! 😀

      • Glenn

Thanks! And thanks for maintaining a list of birthday freebies – I don’t think there’s been a day these past 2 weeks where I haven’t gotten something!

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

          How fun! You’re welcome!

    • holly

Happy Bday! Your bday freebie will not qualify you (ie: it doesn’t accumulate points).

    • LindaS

Happy birthday Glenn. When I get the stars with any purchase offers I usually get a cheese or avocado dip which are both $0.95 here in California. When I get those star deals I usually have to buy 5 or more within a week and I enjoy either one of those as a quick snack. I also get Starbucks gift cards from Kelloggs Rewards so it’s even more of a money saver. And I’ve gotten several Starbucks gift card deals or more points from posts I saw here on Hip2Save.

      • Glenn

Thanks for the tip Linda – I’ll see if they carry the dips here! I don’t like coffee, so most of my Starbucks card balance is from gifts/promotions/prizes/redemptions as well.

        • Sharonl

Happy Birthday, Glenn! Also, cookie straws are $1 if your store offers them 😉

        • Linda

          Bananas are only $1

        • Tori

Glenn – they can do non-coffee smoothies as well. Just an FYI.

  9. 3boysmom

If I don’t have any Starbucks cards and haven’t signed up for anything so I am brand new to this.
Is it too late for me to take advantage of this?

    • Glenn

It looks like it is available to anyone who is a member of their rewards program and isn’t already at Gold level. The way it’s plastered over their website, I suspect you could sign up for their rewards program (might require having a card or downloading the app – not sure) and still get this as long as you make a purchase before the end of the month.

    • Sharonl

3boysmom–go buy a Starbucks gift card from anywhere (Starbucks store or grocery store) and go to Starbucks.com and register your card! Then you can start collecting stars for your purchases, etc. Once your card is registered and you have an account (by registering), you can/should be able to participate in this Gold Status promo!!! It worked for my friend last year!!! 🙂 Hope this helps !!!

  10. pburnsbyers

Happy for all the green card members, but I spent a lot of money at Starbucks achieving and maintaining my Gold status. Now everyone gets it with one purchase!? Kinda defeats the purpose of “achieving” GOLD!

    • annie

I so agree with your statement. I also spend lots of money to achieve and maintain my gold status only for people to make one purchase and get gold status.
      absolutely, not fair. 🙁

  11. Darcy

If you are gold and you get a drink. do you get another year of gold?

  12. cheapcheapgoesmommy

I honestly don’t use my starbucks card till I get a groupon 🙂 Cheap Cheap goes the mommy..guess I need to use up the rest of my last groupon to score gold 🙂

  13. Ms Bailey

It’s also not fair that only select customers get the Groupon deals. I believe Starbucks did the same promo last year around the same time. If you don’t have extra money, don’t feel pressured to maintain gold status. Your normal drinking habits should keep you at Gold status. Look for BOGO & happy hour promos to save money at SB.
