The Target on South Regal in Spokane will not accept printed manufacturer’s coupons, even if they are manufacturer’s coupons printed from the target web site. I checked with Target on line and the person I chatted with said that was not a Target policy but the individual stores can set their own policy and Target will back up the store. I will not be shopping at that Target anymore which is too bad since it is the closest location to my house

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear that!

You may be able to contact Target’s main customer service and question this policy. If they’re making up their own rules behind corporate’s back, they may be reinformed about corporate policies and required to change them. This happened to me at Office Depot. The manager at my local store was explaining to me that they wouldn’t price match to Amazon Prime, even though the Office Depot website said they DO price match to Amazon. The manager’s explanation was that because Prime was a subscription service that waives shipping fees, the had to add shipping fees to the price they’d price match to. I emailed customer service, sent a message on Facebook and Twitter, and used their live chat. After a day or two, I got a reply from customer service that said they spoke with the manager and reinformed her about the Amazon Prime price match policy, and that I could go back to the store for a proper price match. They actually took off another 30 or so percent for my trouble, so that was sweet!

Because I got oddly curious, I checked with Target’s chat as well. Target isn’t allowed to not accept coupons, unless they don’t scan, or if they feel a customer is abusing the amount of coupons being used (extreme couponing), in which case they do not need to accept coupons or can limit the amount used.

The rep I spoke to said “At this point, I can only file a complaint. I can only suggest calling us from the store when it is happening and we can then partner with store and see what they are doing and what is going on. We can be reached at 1-800-440-0680.”

Give it a try! I love shopping at Target and frequently use coupons at my local store, so I wouldn’t want you to miss out on opportunities because of a wayward manager!

The Madras Lentils are very good. I think they are great as an alternative to chili on potatoes or fries, but I like over rice as well. Not spicy. Worth trying.

Also maybe nice to have as a vegetarian option if you are hosting with loaded baked potatoes or a chili bar. Of course vegetarian bean chili is great but this is easy for serving small numbers
