Just a heads up, I have been buying all my meat from them for a few years and they have recently switched suppliers. The ground beef is no longer being delivered in the 10 lb FRESH chubs you have pictured. They are coming FROZEN in 1 lb packages. Seems very convenient, right? Unfortunately the quality is not the same that my family has grown to love. Check out their Facebook page. It is loaded with comments from unhappy customers regarding these changes in quality.

What’s your fb? I signed up for the chicken but I can’t pickup until October! Now I am second guessing my purchase 👎🏻😞

      • Laura

Ashlynn, Here is Zaycon’s FB https://www.facebook.com/zayconfoods/ look for a post about the beef and read the comments. Everyone is upset about the change in the beef. The chicken is wonderful! I think you will be happy with it. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up. I have wondered that. I wondered with it being the “frozen” part how it would be.. What a bummer. We have been buying it for years too and i was going to look on FB. Still love the meatyback ribs tho 🙂

Just picked up mine last month and they switched back to the 10 lb chubs! I prefer these better to the pre-packaged. Here in Oregon.

      • Laura

Yes, they had the frozen, switched back to fresh (thankfully I ordered some!) but now they are back to frozen again. It even says on their product page. Lots of upset people! I will not order ground beef again unless they bring back fresh.

      Bummer. Thanks for your feedback!

We’ve been using Zaycon for years in several states. The shrimp, chicken, hotdogs, and bacon are staples in our house; it’s about the only way to afford meat in CA. Not sure about the ground beef as only a few in our house eat beef but even the hams and turkey breasts are great!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool! Awesome that you have been so pleased with their products Melanie! Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

    • Laura

I agree 100%… love every single one of their products I have tried and we’ve tried them all!! Unfortunately this frozen beef is a big mistake on their part (poor quality) and I hope they fix it because I don’t want to shop somewhere else!

Is ground beef super expensive elsewhere? I’m in WI so maybe I’m spoiled on prices. 2.19-2.49 would be a common sale price for fresh ground beef. 2.49-2.99 for ground chuck. Used to be able to find 1.99 but that’s pretty rare unless it’s 70/30.

    • Laura

Yes ma’am! I am in Texas and $3.99 is the standard “sale” price around here but we prefer the 93/7 which is what Zaycon sells. Really hope they go back to fresh!!

      • Laura

Sorry I meant $2.99…. USUALLY the quality of Zaycon is worth buying in bulk but this frozen stuff is not up to their normal standard.

      • Holly

        This is the 80/20 though.

    • Autumn

Our 80/20 is $3.99/lb regularly here in WV, unless you go to Sam’s Club to buy it.

    • Holly

We must be spoiled here in Ohio too. Its on sale at Kroger for $1.99 this week.

Our Kroger has 80/20 on sale for $1.99 (you have to buy 5lbs)…might want to check there ad and see if yours is too
