BOOKS:

1.) Grace, Not Perfection: Embracing Simplicity, Celebrating Joy by Emily Ley

As a busy wife, new mother, business owner, and designer, Emily Ley came to a point when she suddenly realized she couldn’t do it all. She needed to simplify her life, organize her days, and prioritize the priorities. She decided to hold herself to a standard of grace rather than perfection. This mantra led to the creation of her bestselling Simplified Planner®, a favorite among busy women everywhere—from mamas to executives and everywhere in between.

2.) The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France―a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women.

3.) One Second After by William R. Forstchen

New York Times best selling author William R. Forstchen now brings us a story which can be all too terrifyingly real…a story in which one man struggles to save his family and his small North Carolina town after America loses a war, in one second, a war that will send America back to the Dark Ages…A war based upon a weapon, an Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP). A weapon that may already be in the hands of our enemies.

4.) Bossypants by Tina Fey

From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon – Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we’ve all suspected: you’re no one until someone calls you bossy.

5.) The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

Reclusive author Vida Winter, famous for her collection of twelve enchanting stories, has spent the past six decades penning a series of alternate lives for herself. Now old and ailing, she is ready to reveal the truth about her extraordinary existence and the violent and tragic past she has kept secret for so long. Calling on Margaret Lea, a young biographer troubled by her own painful history, Vida disinters the life she meant to bury for good. Margaret is mesmerized by the author’s tale of gothic strangeness—featuring the beautiful and willful Isabelle, the feral twins Adeline and Emmeline, a ghost, a governess, a topiary garden and a devastating fire. Together, Margaret and Vida confront the ghosts that have haunted them while becoming, finally, transformed by the truth themselves.

Has anyone read the Chemist yet by Stephenie Meyer? She is the one who wrote the Twilight series, and I loved those books. Don’t leak the ending though. I have not read much of it yet ;o)

    • JES

It’s on my list to read.

    • Megan

I really tried to read that one but just couldn’t get into it. I read the Twilight series and enjoyed them, but my favorite of hers was The Host.

    • Angela

Yes I read it and I loved it. And I’m a Chemist.

    • Elaine

I HATED The Chemist. I enjoyed the Twilight books and really like The Host. The Chemist was just ridiculous and she was trying way too hard. She added a ton of details that were unnecessary and make the book twice as long for no reason. The overall story was good. Just the writing sucked.

    • Nat

I did listen to it when it first came out and I really didn’t like so I thought I would try again. I listen to it at night to go to sleep and it puts me right to sleep :l Definitely not a favorite.

  3. Susan

Nom nom paleo cookbook, surprised it’s not on the list, in my opinion, much better than Whole 30

For vegetarian cookbooks.. THUG KITCHEN is marvelous. It’s full of simple dishes with every day veggie ingredients. You won’t spend $50 on a single recipe like other cookbooks.

      I second Thug Kitchen.
