The prices in the blog post are correct.
Any reviews on this machine? There’s none on the target website. Also it doesn’t seem to come with any pods – where’s the cheapest place to purchase them?
They make a really great cup of espresso or coffee. I’ve had my eye on one for a while but my Tassimo hasn’t died yet. The pods are available from Nespresso or Amazon.
I bought this deal. Love the milk frother but am not thrilled with the limited coffee selection for the veruoline machines. I prefer dark, full bodied roasts. Unfortunately for me, the dark roasts available for this machine are not pure arabica beans. They are blended with the much cheaper and harsher robusta beans. Robusta is commonly used as a cheap filler and to increase the crema in espresso roasts, but it detracts from the taste in my opinion. In addition I don’t like the 1/2 inch of foam on top of my coffee. Foam is fine for lattes, but I don’t like it on my plain black coffee. I’ll hang on to the machine for making lattes, because it does make a fine espresso. I find I can mask the harshness in a latte.
The coffee is only available from Nespresso, and is not cheap like Keurig. I did find some on Amazon but they were more expensive and possibly damaged or out of date. The vertuoline pods are bar coded and patent protected. There are kits on Amazon to fill your own, but it is labor intensive and time consuming. I took a spent pod, cleaned it out, filled it with my favorite beans ground fine and carefully covered it with foil. It worked but is not worth the effort in my opinion. I can make a pour over coffee much quicker.
Also something to bear in mind, Discover card users cannot buy the pods. Nespresso doesn’t take that form of payment.
