My Sidekick Angela loves her Roomba 690…

Y’all! I cannot even begin to express my love for this vacuum! With two teenagers, three cats and a dog that sheds, and sheds and sheds, it has been a must in this house. I use the iRobot App to set her (yes it’s a her and I named her Ruby 😀) to vacuum in the morning after the kids have left for school or at night just before bed.

My main concern was that this vacuum would need to be able to go from hard floors to rug to carpets without getting stuck. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at just how well it handles the terrain! It comes with two battery operated barriers that have a sensor to tell the vacuum to stay within the boundaries, so you can keep it contained to one room or let it roam. I am always surprised at just how much the Roomba picks up each time I use it.

The only complaint I have is that I cannot seem to teach my cats to ride on it like all of the cats on YouTube. Internet fame is sadly not in our future.😁

Reviews? Or should i spemd the extra money for better models?

    • Vanessa

I did some research and this seems to be one of the better less expensive models. I was planning to get this exact one on Black Friday at target.

    • Jess

I just got this model a week ago and I’m running it every day. The 690 has exceeded my expectations, I absolutely love it!

      • Jess

Oh, we have two toddlers and a golden retriever. My floors have never looked this clean consistently through the week. It also adjusts to our wood, tile, and carpet seamlessly.

        • Angela (Super Saver Sidekick)

Yes I was surprised too! I am an avid review reader before I buy anything and it’s been so awesome.

We have had a Roomba for about 18 months – ours is named Princess – and it’s seriously the BEST thing ever. We have 3 kids and 3 cats – I run it daily and she fills up her tank every time. If you are on the fence – just get one!

    • Angela (Super Saver Sidekick)

I love that you named your Roomba too! 😊

    • Laila

I’m worried it will fill up quickly with a Newfoundland and Bernese so not sure if it is worth it. Is the part that holds the debris very big?

    • Jen D

Our iLIFE robot vaccuum is named Bob πŸ˜€

Hoping the roomba (not this model) will go β€œon sale” at Costco soon. Anyone have the inside scoop? I really wanna buy from Costco because of their generous return policy!

    • dd-amber

      Was wondering the same.

      • MeghanL

        Me too!

does this know to stay away from stairs and does it ever get trapped behind tight corners ?

    • Angela (Super Saver Sidekick)

Hi DS! Yes mine never goes down the stairs and the only time it has gotten stuck in a spot is when my kids left some cords under the chair against a wall and it had the cords caught in the brushes.

Looks like a great deal! Thanks πŸ™‚

Mine gets stuck under our entertainment stand once in a while because the stand seems to start at the exact height of the Roomba. It also has a hard time getting onto my bathroom rug, which slides around a lot because the rug pad under it isn’t great. Be sure to have it run when you’re away from home, it can get loud and annoying sometimes. Other than that, it picks up a LOT of dirt and dust, I’m amazed how much stuff it collects.

Thanks for chiming in with your review Brittany! πŸ™‚

I will never live without a Roomba. Hands down one of my best purchases ever. I have had mine for years. I get replacement filters and brushes from Amazon. I do clean it thoroughly after each run. Get one! You will not regret it!

I took advantage of this deal. I went to Target and priced matched Amazons price. I was sent an email a couple days ago from Target that had a coupon in it for 10 percent off my total purchase so I was able to use that and then got the 5% off for using my redcard. I got it for 249, lower then any of the Black Friday prices. Thank you so much! This was the main thing on my Christmas list <3

    • Melissa

What did you do to get Target to price match the Amazon price? I’ve never done this before.

  9. Amber

I was going to stand in line for this on black friday. Now I don’t have to because I’m a prime member πŸ™‚
    Thank you so much!

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welcome, Amber!

Anyone know if this is better than the ecovacs N79. That one has amazing reviews and its cheaper. Wondering if roomba is better or not?

  11. Cheyenne

Anyone know if there will be a better deal anytime soon? I am dying for one but price is still a bit steep for me.

Does the vacuum in a pattern and leave the pretty even lines or does it bounce around all over?

    • Jess

I have an older model that I have had for 5 years and I LOVE it! I buy the replacement battery and sweeper parts/filter on amazon as needed and my husband replaces them. We have 2 large shedding dogs and a one story home with carpet and floors. It does bounce around randomly, but it does a surprisingly good job at reducing the amount of pet hair. It’s worth 1000 regular vacuums imo. Seriously… get it if you have the means and are debating.

This is probably a very stupid question, but I must ask. I love thew concept of the Roomba. One of my dogs is older and has lost some sight and hearing. She spends most of her time napping on a chair or her dog bed. Will the device in anyway make her feel as if she is being chased or cornered?

  14. momkat

I bought mine from Hammacher Schlemmer. They have a lifetime guarantee. Anything quits working and they will replace it free. Mine got wet and shorted out (thanks to my cat) and they sent me a new one. I love my Roomba.
