Was about to buy it then I read the first review. Yikes!

I know what you mean. But honestly, I think people don’t sanitize and wash these things correctly and that’s how mold develops.

We’ve had one of these for years. I’ve seen a couple mold spots develop in the silicone part on only two occasions (both times in the summer when it sat forgotten in the car for a few days). Basically, it needs to be washed well with a little brush/soap/hot water (not just a quick rinse) and put back together when it’s completely dry. I also try to give it a quick look before washing to make sure there’s no funkiness that needs extra scrubbing. They’re great cups.

We will ONLY use Camelbak kiddos with our 2, after trying dozens of others over the past few years. The single reason is that Camelbaks completely come apart, allowing you to thoroughly wash every component. Contigo, Thermos, and MANY others, the bite valve/straw is fixed into the lid and can’t come out entirely. Anyone having issues with mold with these Camelbaks, I truly believe they aren’t washing them thoroughly or often enough. It’s very simple/fast to break them down and get into all the crevices with a bottle brush, and we’ve never had an issue. We live in southern AZ so we are heavy water bottle users lol!

Mold is only grown if not cleaned properly. We have used these since my daughter started drinking from a sippy cup and LOVE them. Clean them and you won’t have an issue.

We love these bottles, and whenever one of the bite valves gets destroyed (not often), their cust. service usually sends us a free new one, after filling out a short form on their website.

I will note that I ONLY put water in them, which might be why I’ve never seen mold in ours…

Oh awesome! Thanks for the helpful tip Kait!

My 4 year old has used these since she was 2. Normally with milk because that’s her drink of choice, but I’ve never had an issue with mold. We have had at least 10 of these cups. I buy extra mouth pieces and straws separately. Now, here lately she’s been into chewing the mouth piece so that has caused them to leak occasionally but it’s not a faulty cup. I love it and I even use it when I’m in a pinch. 😉

Good to know they have worked well for her Whitney! Thanks for the feedback!

As long as you wash them promptly, these cups are the best. We’ve used them for years. The cup part and the lid can go through the dishwasher, and I wash the straw and mouth piece by hand—doesn’t take long at all. And then set them all out to air dry before reassembling for storage or use. Way more sanitary than other options with parts that don’t come apart.

Now for adults, I love the tervis water bottles…two total parts that go into the dishwasher. But until my kids reach that point, these camelbak eddy cups are the next best option 😊

My 2 kids have about 15 of these cups and we couldn’t be happier! We’ve had them all for 2+ years and never had any issues. Plus camelbaks have a lifetime guarantee

thanks for honest feedback got two yeah

That’s such a good price!! I have loved these for my kids, only for water. We have had one for 5 years! We replace the mouthpiece every now and then but they are the best. Way better than contigo.

  8. Shannon

The contigo kids ones are usually $7 with code at kohls and waaay better imo. I have both and I never use the camelback one because it leaks and made a stain on my kids backpack.

  9. Trish

Mine had mold stuck inside and cracked, I threw it out then found out there was a lifetime guarantee…so bummed because tbey said I needed to have the bottle to get another one 🙁

    We love these bottles!!

We have 2 that are about 15 months old, used daily, no mold and take it all apart and toss in dishwasher, I check for mold every time due to those negative reviews I’ve read, never once have I see mold!
