Need creative yet simple gift wrapping ideas?  🎁

If you’ll be gifting items and truly want to package it up in a unique way, here are a few EASY and cute holiday ideas to get inspired! Wrapping even the simplest items in a thoughtful way can make an ordinary item extra exciting and fun to receive as a gift!

1. Simple Reindeer Wrapping

Get this super cute looking reindeer by gluing a red craft pom pom to a gift and using a Sharpie marker to draw simple reindeer details to the top. I re-purposed my kids’ roll of drawing paper as wrapping paper for these gifts. If you have a roll of Kraft paper on hand that could work also!

2. Gifts in a Jar

Jumbo storage jars make excellent gift wrapping because you can fill them with whatever you’d like just like a gift basket. They look so pretty, are fairly inexpensive, and super functional to use after Christmas. To create, simply place faux snow or white tissue paper on the bottom of jars, and fill with desired gift-able items.

Tip: You can always use this same idea for small gift items in dollar store mason jars. Check out how to create a DIY Gift Card Snow Globe.

I was able to create a holiday baking-themed gift with lots of goodies, and then one for my daughter’s teacher with a cute little sign and bath & beauty items. So fun!

3. Starbucks Cup Gift Card Holder

Love giving Starbucks gift cards? Fill a frappuccino cup with candy and stuff a gift card inside. Then, top it with some white tissue paper, secure lid back on, and finish with a bow around the straw. Such a cute way to give a gift card!

Tip: I used Hershey’s Almond Chocolate Kisses because the packaging was more of a coffee color, but you can definitely use whatever candy you’d like!

4. Candy Gift Toppers

Know a candy fan? Top a gift with their favorite candy for a sweet and easy gift topper! Simply wrap the gift with a ribbon and tie a piece of candy at the top. Holiday related candy would be fun too!

Tip: I’m awful at tying gift wrapping ribbons, so I’ll often use curling ribbon and run scissors at the ends to “curl’. Looks festive and is super easy!

5. Paint Can Gift

Your local hardware store has a unique gift wrapping option to consider—a paint can with paint chip gift tag! I found my empty can for around $3 at Home Depot.

Simply decorate it with wrapping paper, scrapbook paper, ribbon, or any materials you may have on hand for an adorable way to present a gift! Cut the paint chip card into a tree shape for a fun tag idea.

I filled my bucket with a couple of cute mugs and hot cocoa supplies as a special gift for a friend. Get the Merry & Bright free printable image. I just love how this gift idea turned out!  So cute, easy and festive!

BONUS IDEA!  Zip Ties Gag Gift Wrapping 😂

Need a funny/silly gift wrapping idea? How about wrapping and then tying your gift with a ton of plastic zip ties!? LOL 😁 That’s one way to draw out the suspense of what’s inside! Ha!

Can anyone give me some gift ideas for a kindergarten teacher? Thanks in advance!

    • Courtney

Alot of times my daughter has multiple teacher’s so I’ll get a Christmas oven mitt with a pack of cookie mix, and a cookie cutter. I usually can find all of the items at the dollar store. And I tie it all together with cute ribbon or string.

      • Lina D

        Yes love this idea!

    • AG

I always recommend gift cards over “stuff” for teachers. I’m a parent volunteer and I’ve seen teachers buy coats, shoes and other things for their students. They also spend a lot of their own money on their classrooms. I always get Amazon or somewhere that they can buy a variety of things. Another idea is to ask them if there is anything they need for their classroom. This year my son’s teacher is asking for PVC pipe for a classroom project. I’d rather buy that than a knickknack or something they don’t need.

    • Rita

I am a kindergarten teacher. I am always spending money for my classroom. A Dollar Tree purchase here and there, and $20 later there’s another season or holiday when I’m back there spending even more. Then there are other things: fine motor toys and containers to store it all in. Any gift cards are greatly appreciated. I know it’s the thought that counts but the knick knacks do become plentiful after years and years of teaching. Craft stores, office stores, and Target are all great teacher stores to get a gift card to so the teacher can use it for the classroom. If going the personal route, be careful if you do gc for Starbucks or other places. In one year I accumulated $125 to Starbucks but I’m not a coffee drinker. Again, it was so kind, but I was finally able to use them on expensive tea ice tea since it just isn’t my thing to go to Starbucks.

Cute ideas! I’ve seen paint cans in the party supplies section at hobby lobby. With the 40% off coupon in the app, it would probably make for a pretty good deal.

    • Lina D

Oh nice! Thanks for sharing 😊

    • Kim

I have purchase several of the paint cans at Michael’s for gifts for my daughter’s friends. These cans are clear, and I load them with lotions, pedicure items, soaps, washcloths…anything that will fit and put the lid on it! I call it the Spa in a Bucket kit! The girls love it and I think it’s even more fun to receive the way it’s presented!

      • Lina D

Oh how cute! Thanks for sharing Kim!

  10. Angelica

Does anyone have a burlington code for a free calendar? I need one please. if you do, can you email me at aguilar_jelly08 @ yahoo dotcom. Maybe we can negotiate something! please and thank you!!

  11. Deb

All of them are cute, Lina, but I just don’t get the charm of the zip tie one. Even as a gag gift…

    • Lina D

Ha it’s ok – just supposed to be funny. Skip it if it’s not for you 😊

    • amy111

I love it! Perfect for that teen that needs a challenge while the younger kids open gifts.

    • Christine P.

My daughter and her uncle compete every year to make each others gift the most difficult to open. Lots of duct tape has been used. Lol. Zip ties are probably next now.

      • MommySpendsLess

My dad and brother did that for years, each year they’d get more creative and the presents harder to open. It finally stopped when my brother got my dad a gift certificate and decided to weld it inside a metal box. The certificate caught on fire…
Growing up my parents, especially my mom, were notorious for re-using household boxes for gift cards and other hard to wrap items. My brother and I started oohing and aahing over the box, thanking them profusely for the crackers, oatmeal, etc. It became an ongoing joke.
        All fond memories 🙂

  12. y

I loove the zip tie so doing this. Thanks for the fun on xmas morn ha,ha, .

  13. Me

I love the Starbucks idea. Maybe a stupid question, but do you wash out a used one or do you just ask them for an extra cup/top when you buy yours?

    • Lina D

I think you could do either. I just asked for a couple when buying gift cards – I’m doing some for teachers

      • Me

Thanks. I usually buy the gift cards wherever there is a promotion, so I usually don’t buy it at Starbucks. Any promos if you buy the GCs there?

    • Me

I guess I’m just asking because I was curious if they will just GIVE you another brand new cup/top? Some places are weird about that…..

      • Lina D

I only asked for two while buying other drinks so it may be just up to the person

zip ties would be fun and totally would make my family laugh. dollar tree has zip ties. cheaper than home depot. I know because I had to zip tie my cupboards for weeks after my son came home from hospital on a liquid diet.

    • Lina D

  35. Mel

I go to a Christmas party every year where we have one of those gift exchanges where you can steal someone else’s present. There is one guy who always picks a present with wrapping paper and tape (not one in a gift bag or a present already opened) and then proceeds to take 5 minutes to carefully open the package. I don’t even know how it is possible to take that long to open a package, but he manages it. Drives everyone at the party crazy. I hope no one at the party I attend ever wraps their present in zip ties!

  36. Sheri D Watson

Can you get the frappacino starbucks cups from starbucks empty? or where did you get the cups?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

When I purchased the gift cards in store, I just asked nicely if I could have the cups and they said yes.
