New mom here… serious question. Can you not use a microwave to do this? Expecting my first in July so I honestly don’t know if there is a reason you shouldn’t. Thanks for the feedback! 🙂

    • Laurie

No, a microwave creates hotspots and can scald the baby. A large bowl of warm water works too, though 🙂

Congratulations Jamie! I have a 3 months old and use the Tommie Tippie warmer in our bedroom. It saves us a trip to the kitchen. Definitely helpful for nighttime feeds.

Because of the plastic in the bottles and hot spots! Chemicals from the plastic in the microwave can seep into the milk- and even if you use glass bottles it won’t heat evenly! Congrats!!!

Honestly, I found the easiest way to warm a bottle was running it under hot water and then testing it on my arm. I got one of these warmers as a baby gift…I used it a handful of times. It was definitely something I did not need.

Yes! I agree Jennifer. The easiest is under hot water. We have the munchkin warmer and it has worked out great for us!

Wow! Thanks for the feedback and congratulations, ladies! I appreciate it. Obviously a novice here trying to figure this pregnancy/baby thing out still. 😉 It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all of the different baby products on the market, so I’m really just trying to figure out what is essential vs. overkill.

I’ve got a 2 month old and think I’ll grab this for when my husband has to heathe up bottles. Jamie, congrats on your baby! If you breastfeed you should not microwave breast milk so this would be helpful for that too

    • Jamie

Congratulations to you as well! So exciting. ♥️ Breast feeding is definitely in the plans, so I’ll have to keep that in mind.

Thank you! My hubby told me to buy this, but couldn’t bring myself to the $40 price tag to use it for less than a year. Baby stuff is not cheap. ☺️

We had this and loved it.

We had always used the microwave to heat up the bottles for our 3 kids with no problem! The key is to use a bottle that can be microwaved (we used Dr Brown but with the top off completely) and figuring out how long to do it for and how warm to the touch you want the milk to be.

I forgot to add that before you give the bottle to the baby, swirl or gently shake it side way a few times. From a logic standpoint, there is no hot spot if all the liquid is mixed homogeneously. We never had any problem and many other parents we had talked to also use the microwave!
