My response, “So you are telling me that if I am standing in line with 5 coupons, I could be denied and the person next to me with 7 coupons could be accepted, just based on the percieved number of coupons in my hand? Where does it state this in your coupon policy”

The response from Target CSR, “Yes, that is correct. It’s like going to school. When two students hand in papers, one may get an A and another a B. It’s not fair, but that is life. Again, it is up to the discression of the employee.”

My response, “Are you kidding me – that’s not fair!” To which the employee said, “Yes, it’s not fair, but that’s the way it is.”

After being on the phone with this rep for 30 minutes and being told, “It’s people like you that has made Target change their coupon policies.” and other statements, that I was highly concerned about Target’s customer service and training of their employees. It’s a shame, but they did send me a $10 gift certificate.

So my advice – shop with the Target coupon policy in hand. Oh . . . make sure you have Target’s corporate number in your cell phone too . . . the CSR I spoke with told me it was my fault that I did not have this number with me and it was my responsibility to settle any disagreements before leaving the store.
