The other day I tried to use 1 target coupon from hot cocoa, and it was supposed to make it free...I was told that they can't take coupons if it makes an item free. I was so mad..It was a target coupon! and they said..no we just can't give things away for free. ?! then why was there a coupon in the first place?! It is really hit and miss at target. I've had wonderful experiences and horrible experiences.

So ljohnson, what is the deal with the Target thing w/the coupons? I was SO upset that I had a whole cartful of items bagged, store coupon policy in hand, and the cashier & manager went on & on how it couldn't be right because Target's policy had "just changed." (regarding using more than one Target coupon in a transaction)I didn't even have very many coupons, but I had planned out my trip & had both 1 manufacturer coupon & 1 store coupon for each item. I'm all about being legal & ethical, but I agree with Lynne totally. I'm planning my shopping trip out for tomorrow & don't know if I even want to fool w/Target anymore, especially when my local CVS manager is the one who told me to check the papers so I could use coupons w/my extra bucks! Its about the principle-why shop at a store that treats people like criminals for trying to save a dollar that they will get reimbursed from the manufacturer anyway (and they do create their own coupons, with a print limit, so what is the deal).

I have had some cashiers do this to me (and some great ones who just take them all at once, all in the same store) if they tell you this, smile sweetly and tell her that you would like to do all your coupon purchases as separate transactions...that should get you through. And don't be afraid to ask for the front end manager, I have found them to be very customer friendly.

I feel that Target and other stores who use "discretion" of individuals are discriminating. It wouldn't surprise me if some day they are sued for not following their own corporate coupon policies.
I work for target and here is the deal!!! you can use one target coupon and one manufactures coupon per item. As far as price matching....we don't match clearance, door busters where there are time limits nor %'s, it has to be a regular priced item thats on sale. Example: dvd 19.99 at target but on sale for 14.99 at best buy, we will match!!!

I shopped at Target today & had an experience similar to those above-I was told that I could only use ONE Target web coupon per transaction. I had a whole stack I'd matched up w/manufactures coupons. The cashier & manager wouldn't budge. Since I had a whole cartful of items already bagged up, they pulled out my web coupon items & let me pay for my items separate transactions, but only after I had become visibly upset. I had coupon policy in hand & everything, but they just kept saying "this policy just recently changed." I agree with those above. I think it depends on who you get what day. But I was so frustrated that I am quite turned off w/shopping at Target at this point. No one seems to give a consistent, straight answer! (they are worse than the pain of Walgreens and RR-at least their rules are consistent throughout!)

Carissa I think it's the way you think it is. It's 1 Target coupon per item not the whole transaction. That would be kinda stupid if that's the way they really did it. The cashier wasn't reading that one right at all! Next time ask for a manager to come over and go from there. Remember what Colin says "Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself!" We aren't taking money away from them they get it back for goodness sake's. I haven't had any problems with them and the coupons, yet anyway. I did print out their policy though & would suggest everyone do that when they go shopping.

Today I was shopping at a Target store that I am not familiar with, and the cashier pointed out that on the new Target printable coupons, it states that you can only use ONE coupon per transaction. The cashier told me that I could only use ONE Target printable per transaction. Not sure if this is correct or not, but this is what she told me. The coupon does state "Limit one per transaction." I am thinking that this means only one of each particular coupon per transaction.

Yikes . . . I was told by a customer service rep at Target's home office, "It is up to the discression of the employee or manager to accept or deny any coupons. Even if the coupon meets the criteria for use, they can be denied." Okay, this is corporate headquarters talking.

My response, "So you are telling me that if I am standing in line with 5 coupons, I could be denied and the person next to me with 7 coupons could be accepted, just based on the percieved number of coupons in my hand? Where does it state this in your coupon policy"

The response from Target CSR, "Yes, that is correct. It's like going to school. When two students hand in papers, one may get an A and another a B. It's not fair, but that is life. Again, it is up to the discression of the employee."

My response, "Are you kidding me - that's not fair!" To which the employee said, "Yes, it's not fair, but that's the way it is."

After being on the phone with this rep for 30 minutes and being told, "It's people like you that has made Target change their coupon policies." and other statements, that I was highly concerned about Target's customer service and training of their employees. It's a shame, but they did send me a $10 gift certificate.

So my advice - shop with the Target coupon policy in hand. Oh . . . make sure you have Target's corporate number in your cell phone too . . . the CSR I spoke with told me it was my fault that I did not have this number with me and it was my responsibility to settle any disagreements before leaving the store.

Ugggggg!!
