by the way, your clothes look awesome. it’s great that you can dress so cute on a budget!

  2. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

She’s absolutely right about scanning the clearance prices. We had a trip planned last year and needed additional luggage so I thought I’d check out Target’s prices. I happened upon a 5 piece set that was marked in the 75% off section, and thought the price on the tag was great until the cashier rang it up and it came up another $20 less. I wish I could remember what the original and final prices were, but I do remember walking out just astonished at how cheap I got them!

  4. Michelle

You HAVE to try the French Manicure style of the Incoco nail appliques – they are wonderful!!! I I bought one set on clearance for $1.97 at Walgreens and went back for 8 more. They look very professional with hardly any effort, and are obviously a fraction of the cost of a salon manicure.

  5. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Great video and loved all the lemons. My favorite was the shot of the lemon on the Starbucks cup. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Janet

    You’re AWESOME! Enough said.
I tried to send you a message but it won’t let me for some odd reason. Anyway, I found a blog about a lady who uses organic ways to clean and she did a little blog about how lemons are good for cleaning. Here’s her site https://www.moneysavingmaineac.com/2010/01/thursdays-yucky-stuff-is-lucky-stuff_28.html I hope you’ll be able to incorperate some of her tips in next Mondays video! Hahaha

  7. Traci

We (my 3 year old and I) loved your video. He thought you were talking to him. He said let’s go to Target and find her. Sounds creepy when I’m typing it, but it was really cute when he said it. Love it! llkliklikili–from Teddy –mmmmmmllkmnmnnhbnjuu

  18. Shelly

Hey, You crack me up. So as I was watching this video, my kids came up and watched it with me. We were all laughing and my kids were saying “yeah Mom go get some more stuff on clearance, we need some golf clubs and basketballs.” And what is going on with the lemons? There must be some reason you had a lemon on your coffee cup, holding lemons in a box and a lemon in your shirt!! Too much fun. Thanks for the tips and the great laughs… oh, and my husband walked up at the end of the video and said, “don’t you get tired of this couponing stuff and why does she have a lemon in her shirt?” Me and the kids just laughed and laughed>>> THanks again, Shelly

  19. Zara

  22. amy

The Incoco nail appliques are A M A Z I N G!!! I used to buy them a lot when they first came out! I am not a do it yourselfer mani / pedi girl but these things made it so easy that i became one. (I also used the Avon ones but have always thought these were so much better) Anyway they used to have a $1 off q on their website so if they still do that would be one hek of a deal. Also on their website is a video of how to put them on.

Collin …. your the ‘zest’ to my day, you never ‘drop’ the ball, you ‘ade’ me at couponing and you never ‘sour’! How’s that for beating around the lemon bush?

    • amy

yep … just went on and looked … and their $1 off

  23. amy

    whoops! … (con’t) … is still there!

  24. Tasha

    Love the video….as always.
For some reason I have the strange craving for lemonade now…..
    : )

  25. Stephanie

Collin, you are amazing! I think all your kids should dress as lemons this year for Halloween, LOL!!! You’re so cute and fun to watch. I think you could have a career in television. Anyway, thanks for another great video! My Target doesn’t have all those cleaning products (which I have coupons for! grrr!) on clearance!

  26. Vicki

Just a HOOT! Now everytime I see a lemon I’ll definitely think of you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Judy

Ok…. I’ve watched the videos and read the comments ever since the first “lemon” incident, and this is my first time commenting. I think making your own lemonade is a great idea…. for at HOME. At a restaurant it is not frugal, it’s “cheap”. I am a server, and basically we make our living on tips. If you want water to drink with your meal… totally fine! But if you want lemonade, then order one. Every little bit helps us! If you can afford to go out to eat, I would think you could afford a glass of lemonade. I know you said you gave the waitress a good tip, and that’s GREAT! But a lot of people do not look at it that way. They will tip based on the bill, not based on the bill if they had actually ordered lemonade, thus taking money out of our (the waitress’) pocket.

So with that said, and I know I’m the minority…I do not find the lemon “jokes” funny, I find it offensive that you are encouraging your readers to cheat a waitress out of a would-be higher tip.

Just because there is one thing I don’t particularly agree with, doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate ALL that you do, Collin. I just hope you understand my point, and maybe encourage your readers to tip accordingly if they are going to follow your “lemonade” advice.

    • Anna

I’m glad a server said something. And I hope you don’t get ridiculed for saying what you said. I’m still not sure what I think about the lemons, but people should be able to state an opinion politely without being thought of as a hateful person. If someone says they don’t agree with something, people on this site like to jump all over it, as if the original poster is so against Collin. Not true! Everyone loves Collin. We love her personality and what she does for us. And I think because we love her so much, she feels like a friend to us. And we feel like we can express ourselves to our friend. Some things certainly get out of hand and things get a bit heated on these threads, but overall, I believe everyone really means well in what he/she originally says.

      • Anna

I just finished watching the video, and I did laugh at the lemon parts. I have to admit it was funny ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I would gladly tip more to a server that gladly brought me my lemons instead of making a huge deal out of it! If you complain about having to bring me what I want…guess what…you may not even get a tip AT ALL!!! It’s your job to serve, so quit being a baby and do your job! goodness…you must be a democrat!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

or maybe…you are just upset because you are a server and don’t make any money?

And “would-be higher tip?” How much higher could it be with a lemonade? A lemonade is maybe $2.50 + tax, then 15% tip. How much “extra” would you make? Oooooo an extra $.40-$.50 from your tips. If it’s that big of a deal to you, then go get a better paying job!

      • Judy

I am a stay at home mom, and work a few hours a week as a server. I am very blessed to have the option to work as a server just for extra cash, and am not forced to. My comment was on behalf of ALL the servers out there, and some do struggle. Take that .50 times two people per table, and say 5 tables do this a night. That’s $5 a night, $25 a week for someone working 5 days. $100 a month being taken away from a hard working server. Again, I’m not saying don’t order water, or you can’t put a lemon in your water for some extra flavor. I’m saying that ordering water and some lemons for the purpose of making your own lemonade is distasteful. And that is a very shallow and immature thing to say “go get a better paying job!” Were all adults here, let’s be respectful of eachother.

        • Jenmarie

How do you figure saying that if someone is able to afford to go out to eat, they should be able to afford a drink is any better than someone saying get a better job?

      • Kim Harris

        Suck a lemon ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Kim Harris

        Suck a Lemon.

      • Jenmarie

I agree. I could see if it was going to make that much of a difference in a tip, but less than $.50 from the maybe one or two people that may do this in a shift? Talk about being cheap…

    • Jamie

I have to admit, I’m on this site about 20 times a day! I L-O-V-E it! Thank you Collin for all your hard work. Someone mentioned earlier that we all feel like you are our friend. So true!!! And you know what friends do? They try to lift each other up. Let’s all rise above the lemons together. There is no point in festering over a topic that brings hard feelings to this site. This site is about empowering us and connecting positively with other frugal men and women around the country! How awesome is that?!?!

Thanks again Collin. You have given me the ability to provide more efficiently for my family and have provided a way for me to be able to give to others more abundantly.

      • Jamie

Jamie this Jamie totally agrees with you!!!

    • MamaBear

OMG OMG OMG!!!! are we still really going through this- really??? quit digging up old bones!!!! you are just really mad at the cheap-o’s who dont tip you!! seriously people! let it goooooo!!!!
im going to have myself a cup of lemonade…..

    • Missy

So should we order the dinner that is a few dollars more to help servers out, too?

I respectfully disagree that ordering water and adding two lemon wedges is somehow rude to servers because they won’t make as much.

      • KP

I think it had more to do with the fact that she was GIVEN a little cup full of lemons. I say that because I don’t know what she ordered.

Personally, I like to put a couple of wedges of lemon in my water …I don’t use sugar to make it taste sweeter.. I just like lemons in my water. Last time I asked for some lemons, the server brought me out a little plate full of them. Unless you were at dinner with her, you have no idea what she asked for so you can’t really judge.

I also think it’s childish to tell someone to get a better paying job.. In this economy, we should all be thankful to even have a job. We are all adults here and should act accordingly.

    • Lacie

Personally, I don’t see an issue with the whole lemons thing. It’s not like you are actually squeezing lemonade from the lemons your restaurant buys. The lemons the restaurant provides for you to serve are solely for the purpose of being put in water or tea. Now, on top of that, the restaurant probably buys a TON of lemons that then go to waste because they go bad before they are used. It doesn’t matter how they are given out or wasted, the restaurant spends the same amount of money either way. So…it’s not really as big a deal as you are making it. Also, the average table of people out to eat are paying on one bill, so $25 a week lost is a HUGE exaggeration. The restaurant isn’t really losing money by giving customers lemons, and neither are servers. I don’t tip based solely on the bill, I tip based on the kind of service I get and whether or not my server is nice to me. So if you give great service, you will probably make up that extra 10 cents in the tip anyway. If I were a server I sure as heck would not care about giving someone lemons.
Please, bury the issue and STOP digging it back up. I think it’s funny, and a good idea.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

personally I don’t think the customer should have to pay the servers’ wages! I think the employer should!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I am sorry! I shouldn’t be feeding the fire! This topic kind of bothers me though!

        • bonnie79

I have been a sever for 9 years..in all sorts of places…I find that giving your guest/customer what they would like to enjoy their meal with a kind attitude can only help your tips…I mean come on…it’s a simple request…that’s kinda my job; fulfilling simple request that help my guest have a nice meal. I am more than happy to take care of any special requests my guests ask of me. I find the more “special” the request…the bigger the tip. It’s called customer service and that is what i am being tipped for. All sorts of people ask for lemon…and it is no big deal.

          • bonnie79

lol “server”…sorry I just had to put my 2 cents in…

    • eckelly

you are a server. you are to food what salesmen are to cars. so sell it! if you can’t sell a high priced drink, then work on your salesmanship!! if you can’t get people to tip big on a low check then whose fault is that??? not collin’s!!

  28. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

OH MY GOSH! You CRACK me up Collin! I needed a good laugh! I just LOVE the lemons throughout the video! I had a handmade lemonade just for you at Souplantation the other night! ๐Ÿ˜›

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      good job on the lemons

  29. Tamara

The lemons CRACKED me up! So funny!
I am planning a trip to Target tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!

  30. Jen

Collin—I was laughing so hard at all the lemon props!!! You really do have the personality to do television. Thanks for all the great tips and for making it so fun to watch. I had already went to Target and was able to get most of my son’s birthday presents in the outdoor section. Unbelievable deals!!!

  31. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Do you know why some people put lemon in their water? Because they don’t like the taste of the chemicals in the water. When you’re home you know what the water tastes like but when your out you don’t know.So putting lemon in the water changes the taste.A wedge of lemon in no way- makes lemonade.A lot of restaurants have the server bring wedges of lemon to the table.Does your seafood restaurant bring lemons at the end of your meal so you can freshen your hands.I don’t think it is regional as I have traveled and had the same experience. As a matter of fact first class(on a plane) brings hot towels and lemon to refresh your hands.Just saying….pretty interesting.

    • flipfloppingmamma

really this is why I do the lemons in the water…to cover up the water taste. My water at home is filtered and when I go out it seems to taste SO different!

  32. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

you took the other comment away now mine looks odd and I can’t delete it.oh well ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. Elizabeth

Thanks Collin for another LEMON FLAVORED Video !!! It cracked me up. LOL

  34. gwen

Wow! Did someone really left the purse on the cart, or was it part of the joke? :/

  35. taty

Collin I have been following your blog for awhile now. You have help me start to understand that there is a way to have my money go farther with coupons. One question that I do have is that I been noticing the disclousers on my local coupon blogs that the owners were required to post that they were actually getting paid to blog. The reason I am asking is that is there really a way to earn money by blogging about something you love to do as long as there are people that are intrested???????

  36. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I love your video?s, I watch them every week. I promise you that we don?t care about the lemon situation. Don?t let it get to you and leave it in the past.

  37. Kim Harris

Thanks Collin, Great Video and really good tips. Keep up the good work. Love ya, Kim

  38. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    OMG Collin,
You are soooooooooo funny! I thought the first lemon appearance was kinda funny and you got a chuckle from me. As I progressed through the video, I could not contain myself. By the last shot where you are wrapping up with the lemon tucked under your shirt strap, I was practically peeing my pants! Thank You for the awesome laugh! ;D

  39. lisa

I came back this morning, to try to find out about the purse, was the woman found?

  40. eden

LOVE the lemons. And LOVE the clothes. Don’t worry about what other people say. I appreciate you finding humor in the situation & not getting mad. We LOVE you! Keep it up…Oh & yeah. What happened to the purse lady? Now I am wondering!

  41. Stacie

Collin, I am laughing so hard that I’m absolutely in tears… your videos make my week and you’re absolutely killing me with the lemons – sooo funny! Thanks for all you do… we definitely do love you!!!

  49. Jessica
