I just found out some exciting Target news… they are going mobile and with that I mean you can now score mobile coupons! Just go here to sign up and check out all the details. Basically you will start receiving exclusive Target store mobile coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even more savings!

Once signed up, you will start receiving monthly offers via text message (standard text messaging rates do apply) with a link to a barcode that can be scanned at checkout. All the cashier needs to do is take your phone and scan the barcode. It’s that simple! Plus, the same barcode can be used for multiple one-time-only coupon deals throughout the month. I’m assuming these coupons will be the same as the ones on their website, but that’s not too clear yet.

How awesome is this?! The first thing that came to my mind— I will be able to use less of my oh so precious printer ink! Yay! …And my other thought was how convenient! Do you know how many times I’ve forgotten a Target coupon at home? Now my little phone will be filled with Target coupons! Yippeeee!

What do you all think? Are you as excited as me?

(Thanks so much for the heads up on this, CouponingToDisney!)

I’m not so savvy with my phone…does that mean I would need a data phone plan in order to pull up the barcode for them to scan?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

IT SAYS DATA RATES MAY APPLY AND MY PHONE PLAN CHARGES FOR DATA SENT; NO THANK YOU

  2. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’m excited because I can never get the Target printer installed correctly to print them!!

  3. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

There will also be catalina-type printers at the registers very soon. How fun is THAT?!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Mine have had them for months! It’s great. They don’t print $$$ off catalinas, but they do print GREAT coupons. Some for free items!

  4. Brittany

That is a little too weird. I don’t like changing up things…LOL. Besides I always am afraid what kind of charges will occur when they text message you? I have Verizon unlimited mobil to mobil and like 1000 a month other txt messages, will that cover it?? Or will there be additional charges? Thanks!

    • Cathy

it says there are only 5 text msgs a month. So if you have 1000 messages, it’s safe to say you’ll be fine! PLUS you can text “stop” at any time if you think you’ll go over or if you don’t like it.

  5. Jennifer

I dont have a smart phone or anything just a standard slide phone with a keyboard when I slide it so I have a black background on all of my text messages will I be able to see the barcode?

    • Valerie

They will send you a link, and the bar code will open up in your web browser when you click on the link, so you will ba able to see it! 🙂

  6. Brittany

*left the “e” off of mobile

  7. Maria

I just signed up. You will need a phone that has access to the web in order for the coupon to be displayed for scanning. The text charge is what you are normally “charged” for a message.
I love this idea. I currently use an application called Cardstar that you can enter all your store’s bonus cards that the store just scans. It makes the pocketbook so much lighter.

Collin thank you so much for the info.

    • Kathi

      THanks, that helps!

    • tammy

cool-I just looked up cardstar! I’ve never heard of this app….going to download it

  8. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    LOVE IT!!!!

  9. Rhonda

    AWESOME:)

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

not excited! I dont have text or data plan… I know I’m probably the only 20something that doesn’t, but I just didn’t want to spend the money. Will they still have paper ones?

    • Jenn

I’m in the same boat as you. I really hope they still have paper ones!

    • momwhocares freesamples

Me too, no cell phones here with text 🙁 We only use my hubbys work cell for a cell phone.

      • Christy

We don’t have texting either…not because I’m not tech savvy…but because I am too cheap to pay for it! (and I just turned 30…so I know how you feel!)

    • Jenifer

Probably about 9 years ago I got a phone plan that was $10 a month for 100 minutes. As long as I don’t cancel I keep the plan. Therefore I don’t have texting or web.

      • Krista

Jennifer – you can get just as good a deal (better I think) with T-mobile’s pre-paid plan. Get the one that doesn’t charge $1 per day used. If you buy minutes $100 at a time, it’s only 10 cents a minute. It’s the same cost as your plan except you can go over 100 minutes if you wanted without a penalty, and if you are under 100 minutes, you only pay for what you use. The minutes are good for a year, and I find I can stick to about one $100 refill a year, so less than $10 a month. Target also has the refill cards on sale sometimes for $90, and I try to match that up with my 10% off day for using their credit card.

  11. Jenny

Not sure what I think of this. I currently do not have internet on my phone and do not really see a need for it. Being a SAHM I am around my computer almost all day. I guess I will have to see what coupons they offer and see if add internet to my phone.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

by the time I have to pay for texting – I will not be saving anything with my coupons

I want the paper coupons :o)

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have text but not a data plan. Data plans are 15.00 a month for my carrier. Not sure it would be worth it to add it. I will wait and see but at this point I will pass. Thanks for heads up though Collin.

  13. maureen

so does this mean we can do both? paper and text?

  14. Bianca

anyone else having trouble I cant enter my enitre number with area code…hmmm is it my computer? Its only letting me put 6 numbers

  15. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You are totally right about the printer ink, Collin! I worked for Catalina Marketing several years ago (the company that makes all those awesome Catalina deals!) and it was always a concept we discussed as the wave of the future. So cool that it is now available!

  16. I Heart Coupon Deals

    No cell phone here…boo hoo!

  17. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Off topic…I’m new to shopping Walgreens and am wondering…do the in-store ads vary by region? Twice I’ve gone into the store thinking that a certain item should be on sale (based on what I’ve read on someone’s blog), but when I get in there I can’t find it anywhere in their ad. For example, today I went looking for the Swanson’s Broth on sale for .69 with in-ad coupon, but couldn’t find that coupon in the store ad and there wasn’t a sale sign near the broth. Am I missing something? Thanks!

    • mtnhoney

There are long ad’s and short ad’s, so it is possible that you saw a long ad and your store is a short ad store.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh, that makes sense. I didn’t realize there were 2 kinds of ads. Thanks!

  18. Christy

Can you do this with the iPod Touch then?

  19. Brianne

Maria~ Thanks for the CardStore info. I have never heard of this before. I can’t wait until the blackberry app is available! Awesome!!!

    Thanks for sharing!

  20. Julie

Just worried about limits, does that mean 1 coupon per phone? or unlimited?

    • D

The reply I got said up to 5 texts per month

      • Julie

I meant coupon limits, they can send me as many texts as they like!

  21. sara

LOVE this! Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 I haven’t been able to print the Target coupons so it will be nice to get these instead. Hopefully they fix their coupon printer though, I hate feeling left out!

    • Brenda

I have Windows 7 and I am able to print the coupons from Targets coupon site without a problem. The first time I tried after we installed Windows 7, I could not print them, but I just printed 4 coupons from their site before posting this reply. Hope you will be able to also.

  22. Julie

Hmmm… excited to try it, I already signed up but I’ll reserver final judgement until I try it out. It would be great to save ink but I don’t have a data plan…

  23. Nicole

I did this last month & they sent me a txt with a link to mobile coupons on feb 1st & the coupons didn’t load. I found out later that verizon doesn’t support their platform yet. Yes btw you do need web access on your phone 2 get them.

    • Tim

I am on Verizon and upgraded my phone and plan 2 weeks ago to add the connect plan to get internet on my phone and I already have unlimited texting. I have an Envy touch cell phone. Are you stating that I still will not be able to take part in these text coupons?

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

did you get your coupon….i did and i have verizon….i just had to enter the “target.com/save” on the search engine that starts with http/……do you follow…..???

  24. Heather

The very thought of this gives me a case of the vapors. I am SUPER excited about this for many reasons! However, I think the best reason is that this is a much more eco friendly option. I’ve always felt sorta guilty using all that paper printing out coupons when I knew there had to be a smarter, more eco friendly way. I LOVE THIS!

    • DD

i am the same way about paper, but since i’m in the if it’s not in pieces small enough to print on, i can reuse it. so i have all these smaller pieces that will fit only one coupon on it. i decided to tape two small pieces together and cha-ching, it won’t get caught in the printer at an awkward angle or get stuck. i also use them to write my deals on and when i get something free in the mail and i get a sheet of paper, usually the back side is blank, i use that to print coupons on too. and those little scraps are then thrown in my recycle box, that i will take to recycling when it’s full. yay, no waste 😀

  25. Ann Dee

My first thought was a sarcastic “REALLY”? My local Targets here in Sandy, Utah already won’t accept my regular and internet coupons. I KNOW this is going to be a joke to the fiesty cashiers AND MANAGERS here. Oh well. I’m excited for the rest of you. (o:

    • DD

if you got the internet, you might be able to upload the target coupon website to show that it’s not fraud. and i think at that point if they still refuse, i would definitely be writing to corporate.

  26. Kris

    Thank you!!!!

  27. Heather

i am so excited about this. it really made my day. <3 <3 <3 i can't wait till sunday morning now!

  28. Janet Snyder

is it me or is anyone else having trouble trying to enter their phone number into the form… the internet hates me today i think

  29. Vicki H.

i have unlimited texting (helps communicate w dh so he can glance at my message at a moment w/o having to dial up his voicemail and listen) but i don’t have data. If i could save the difference with these coupons, i’d add it. i would love to hear reports of what savings and coupons come available from those of you who use it.

  30. Vicki H.

Oh btw our Target in Tulsa (71st st)has the catalina machines — i got a $5/$50 purchase when i bought a million Smart Ones last month 🙂 . They’re great! Used it first before my other coupons and brought my total down from $74 to $29. Headed in the right direction Target! i don’t know if the other Targets in the area have them though (new Super Target on 101st and Memorial or regular Target on 9th street in Broken Arrow).

  31. Candice

Did you all know there is a Target App for the iPhone? I love it! I use that to see the ad deals because they categorize it.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

can i sign up my husbands phone and use the coupon off my phone and his phone in the same transaction???

  32. Christa

Did anyone get a text today for this today? I received the “Welcome to Target Mobile Coupons” text when I signed up on the 5th but haven’t received anything yet today.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I just called Target again this morning(2/9). The person today had NO idea what I was talking about nor did her supervisor. Lovely :~). I directed her to the sign up page and she pointed out that it sates “Your first coupon will arrive within two weeks of sign up. ” So I’ll wait and see what happens. It looks like I won’t be doing any Target shopping this week. I really wanted those razors and lotion!

  33. Jennifer M.

    Me neither

  34. Heather

Me neither… I got the one that said 5 txts… and nothing since 🙁

  35. Savnformyzoo

i didtn get that text. i signed up but havnt gotten any… what did i do wrong

  36. Jenny

I have a 4 year old flip phone (I know, in mobile phone terms, an antique!). The screen is only about 1.5×1.5 inches. My guess is the barcode wouldn’t display right.

I dont have a text or data plan and I have At&T – I could maybe justify the text message fee (I already do, at .20 a text for one or two texts a month) but the data would be too expensive. When I accidently get on the internet on my phone I’m charged a LOT per minute. –way too much to bother with it.

My hope is that once we get some debt paid off we will be able to get new phones with data plans – I would LOVE that and totally do this!

  37. Rebecca K.

I was ready to sign up for this, but them saw in a previous post that Verizon doesn’t support the platform. Bummer…I was getting super excited…guess I have to wait a bit longer for technology to catch up with me.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i have verizon and i got it just fine….what did you mean by it doesnt support the platform????

  38. Priscilla

Hi all! Can someone forward me the text for the most recent Target text coupon? I signed up yesterday and didnt get the coupons 🙁 I just called target and they said they are still working on the issue. Email me if you dont mind forwarding me the text csufgrad@ymail.com Thanks 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I signed up yesterday and have not got any text coupons?????

  39. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I didn’t know that you need to access the internet, I thought the coupon was in the text message, so how do I stop the text messages now that I signed up?? Please help.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just reply with stop to the text you received and it should stop you from receiving anymore..

  40. Sara

So I signed up for the texts and then typed the link address that they sent me on Sunday into my home computer. It brought up the webpage that you would see on your phone, but instead I printed it, the barcode is at the top. I took it to my Target and they took it with no problem! The customer service lady said she did the same thing herself. So that is how you get around not having internet on your phone.

    • Dianne

What link did they send you? I just got an initial “welcome” text that said “welcome to Target Mobile Coupons! Up to 5 msgs/mo. Send STOP 2 end, HELP 4 info. Msg&data rates may apply. I just have a standard flip phone – is that why I didn’t get any link??

  41. Anon

Ahhhhh! I am seeing so many exciting coupons…but I can’t make use of them b/c I have no cell! BOOOO!!!

  42. Liza

Where is the link in the message.

I do not have internet. I will like to open the link on my home computer.

    TIA

  43. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

does anyone know if there is a coupon limit for the tx msg coupons……???? or is it like a computer where you get two per ….??/

  44. Laura

    not crazy about this idea!

  45. Carrie Bush

I have Verizon. We have unlimited text, but not the internet. So will I be charged for the internet if I sign up for this everytime they send me a coupon? or will it come under the unlimited text?

  46. melissa

So I signed up but haven’t gotten any coupons sent to me 🙁 Can someone forward one to me for the razors? Im excited about this and would really like to participate in the razors since my hubby is in the military and has to shave everyday! LOL Just leave a message if you are willing to forward Thanks 🙂

  47. Janis

Is it only me that’s not too excited about this new mobile coupon stuff. I already struggle to manage my cart full of groceries, my coupons, my gift cards that I’m paying with (as well as those I’m receiving from deals), my wallet, etc. If I have to also get out my phone to swipe a mobile coupon, I’m sure I’ll drop something else. It’s especially NOT worth the effort if these Target mobile coupons are truly only one-time-use coupons. I’m wondering if these mobile coupons can be stacked with other Target coupons?

  48. Jana Biel

my store does not accept mobile coupons : (
