Important: Disney Movie Rewards Update!

First of all, I want to say how sorry I am for all of you who currently have your Disney Movie Rewards accounts blocked due to some of the codes I posted yesterday. I just spoke with a Disney Movie Rewards representative and here is what I learned…

The codes that I posted yesterday (i.e. GOOFY, LIGHT, TINA etc.) were old codes that had been invalid for quite awhile. When Disney recently created a new site, the codes were recognized as new and valid codes by the new Disney Rewards site. However, Disney realized this system glitch and changed the codes to be invalid sometime yesterday. As a result, those of you who tried to enter several of these invalid codes ended up having your accounts blocked by Disney. (I had absolutely no idea that these were outdated codes that somehow became valid when the site switched over; I just thought that they were old codes that new readers could benefit from using). I know this is so frustrating for all of you and again, I sincerely apologize for the confusion!

So here is how to fix the situation….
-Call Disney Movie Rewards at 1-866-246-8646; they are open Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Central Time. I was on hold for over 30 minutes so be prepared for a long wait time!
-Explain that you were entering what you thought were valid codes and ask that your account be unblocked
-According to the representative that I spoke with, your account can often be unblocked immediately and you should not lose any of the rewards points that you have accumulated
-If you do not contact them via phone, your account may stay blocked for an undetermined length of time

      I entered these yesterday and my account was not blocked. All the other codes I had previously entered. So these ones are probably still good.

        The new update codes aren’t working for me. I just opened my account when Collin posted the codes. I entered the 10 older codes. When I tried to enter the new ones, it told me that I can only enter 10 in 24 hours. So today I tried the updated codes and it says the codes are not live yet. Anyone else getting this message??

      You’ll get an error message saying your account is blocked when you try to log in.

    My account is not blocked though I entered several of those codes yesterday. I would imagine it is b/c I have a large amount of points that came from movies we own and not bonus codes.

    Given the situation, I’m surprised they don’t just unblock all of the accounts, or set up an automated option of unblocking your account instead of having tons of people call in & sit on hold for 30 minutes to request it. I’ll probably just leave mine blocked for awhile to let the volume die down a little. Thanks for getting the scoop!

    I read on another site that after 24 hours the account won’t be blocked any more. I don’t know if that is true, just what I read.

    I entered many of the codes (I had already entered some) and had no problems – my account is not blocked and I was able to rack up around 250 more points! I am nearing 3000 and am trying to figure out what reward(s) to get. Its a great program!

    i was actually just coming onto this site to ask collin what happened to the codes. when i try to add them in, some say that the codes arent live yet…whatever that means…
    although my account is not currently blocked, and i added 10 of the points that were mentioned the other day, some point codes that i saved to enter later, arent going through. thi is why sometimes i dont bother with these reward programs: either it takes too long to accumulate points, or i forget about them, or they end up not working 🙁
    the onlu one i keep up to date with is swagbucks, cuz its super easy!

    Yeah my account was blocked yesterday too. I spent over a 30 min. waiting to talk to someone and they were not able to unblock it. She sent a message to tech dept. hoping they would be able to fix it. I’m hoping I don’t loose my points….I have just under 6,000. I’ve worked really hard to get them, so I hope it’ll be fixed soon.

    Both my mother and I have an account… I entered a bunch of codes yesterday, (even the ones collin mentioned) and had no problem and got through fine.
    My mom tried to enter some of the same codes, and her account was blocked!!
    I tried to enter 2 more codes today, and NOW my account is blocked 🙁 Sat on hold wiht them for 15 mins with no response. Finally sent an email. hopefully that will get a response as well! how frustrating!

        I got an email reply today but no help. I will have to call. I lost over 1000 points when I signed into the new site. That’s without putting these codes on.

    Anyone know why some of the codes are saying ‘isn’t live yet’. (i.e. PAPERS, SUPERBARK, etc.)? Just tried again today.

    I entered these yesterday, some I had used before but other were accepted and as of right now my account ins’t blocked. I do have a fair amount of points from movie purchases, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

        Also meant to say that most of my 2000 points are from movies. I think if you enter 10 codes that are no longer valid or you have already entered your account will be blocked.

    I wasn’t blocked but I had tried entering a few more codes I couldn’t get on the other day since there was a limit of 10 and I kept getting a message that the codes were not live. I tried a few of them now I’m blocked for too many invalid attempts. Ugh! Guess I will be calling them! LOL!

      that code doesn’t work- it’s a one-time use code. I tried it, and it said it has already been used. Thanks for posting and trying to help though! I just wanted to let others know it doesn’t work so they don’t try it and end up getting blocked from too many invalid attempts.

        You can’t share your codes from movies you buy. They are one time use only!

    Mine is blocked from the codes too! I sent them an email a few days ago and still haven’t heard back. Now I need to find the time to call! Oh well….

    I stay logged in on my computer, if I log out then back in will I get blocked out?

      I got kicked out of my account immediately with a big message saying my account had been blocked for too many invalid attempts, so you won’t miss it if you’re blocked. 🙂

    I just logged on to swagbucks and I type Disney rewards, and I’m like what the heck????? FISHNET REWARDS??? I look at my keyboard and the letters D and F and Y and T are right next to each other!! and I actually spelled fishnet!! LOL

    My total phone call lasted 22 min and some odd seconds. The lady was very very nice and said my account should be up and running soon and all my points should still be there. Thanks for the tip on calling them

      I’m deaf, too… I emailed the other day but haven’t gotten a response. You could just use VRS or relay to call them. I know it’s a pain to use relay service (either via video or tty) but I think making a call would be the best. I plan to call later today myself because I’ve gotten no response via email.

      Oh phooey, didn’t see that you don’t have a phone. Not sure if you have video phone but if not, you can always use one of the relay service via internet… something like iprelay, siprelay or something like that. They’ll ask you to create an account but once you establish your own account with phone number, you’ll be able to make calls via relay using internet instead of a phone call! HTH

    Wow, they are probably the friendliest phone customer service that I have gotten! It was almost like a Disney Brainwash thing! Was only on hold for less than 10 minutes. They did say it would be 1-2 hours before I would be unblocked…oh well!!

    Okay, I just called and was told that this is a huge maintenance issue related to the new website and not account specific … she didn’t take my personal info to see that the account gets unblocked. Anyone else get THIS message upon calling?? Want to make sure I don’t need to call back since I was definitely not told my account would be unblocked within an hour or two. Thanks!

    The codes were active for a certain period of time yesterday. Both my mother-in-law and I were able to use 10 codes for our accounts. However, once DMR realized what was happening with thousands of people entering a ton of codes, they made the codes inactive again. A code listed as “Isn’t live yet” is actually inactive. If you enter one or two inactive codes, you’ll be okay, but if you enter too many (invalid attempts), your account will be blocked.

    The code you receive with a brand new DVD/blu-ray is one-time use only. Every DVD gets a unique code, so if you use it for your account, it can’t be used for anyone else’s. Also, if you have two different codes for the same title (say, your child broke her Toy Story 2 DVD and you bought a new one), you can’t enter the second code in your account.

    It’s interesting that Collin had to call to get her account unblocked, since there are many people on the DMR Facebook page who say that the accounts will unblock themselves after 24 hours. I had a friend who called yesterday and was told that basically, it was her mistake and her account would not be unblocked. I’m going to tell her to try calling again. Maybe she’ll get someone who’s more friendly.

    I spent 20 minutes on hold for 30 seconds to be told that it’s only blocked for 24 hours, but the CS agent will try to unblock it earlier for me. Entering too many expired codes will block your account. HTH!

      I can’t remember when it got blocked yesterday, but I’m still not able to log in. I guess I’ll try tomorrow.

    Collin, quite apologizing. This isn’t your fault. If everyone would read the comments a little more often, they would realize that a lot of people were having their accounts blocked for trying to use the codes, and then would have known not to try them too, thus locking their account. I hope no one gave you a hard time! We all choose to either use your advice, or not. And if it doesn’t work out, well it was our choice to do it. I hope you aren’t beating yourself up over this! 🙂

    I was blocked for using the codes…After calling… the lady told me it’s only for 24 hrs..but I’m still blocked and it’s been over 24 hrs?? I don’t want to call and spend another 35mins. on the phone.

    I am blocked to, but they where great. This is not a big deal, so many of us benefited from all these codes before we were blocked. It will all work itself out. We must sweat the big stuff, not this minor inconvenience. Thanks for giving me 495 points Collin. You are awesome!!!!

    Ok I’m frustrated. Someone please weigh in on this…I went to the site to redeem my 2 free tickets for Toy Story 3 that I had gotten inside the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 DVD/Bluray combo packs. The DMR site gave me a “page not found” error message. I hit my back button and it said “you have already redeemed this reward.” UGH! No I haven’t! So I called them. They were no help. They directed me to a different website (hollywoodmoviemoney.com) and told me to go to the FAQ page and email them. Somehow I got to another site (activaterewards.com) and still couldn’t get the codes to work. So now I have 2 emails in to different websites and NO movie tickets. This is beyond frustrating!!!

      If you look closely at that flyer it says the free movie ticket offer ends on 3/26/10. At least that is what mine said.

        If you go to the disney movie rewards website it says that the codes don’t need to be redeemed until July 31st of 2011 (which is silly since the movie won’t still be out then)…but I totally freaked out when I read what you wrote since we would have missed out too.

    I called and the wait was only 1 min. They are super nice over there and the representative said that he will pass along my acct. info to their technical department and it should be straighten out/unblocked in 24 hours. Just have to wait and see.

    Thanks Collin! I just called the number you provided, selected the last option in the automated menu and someone picked up right away. The gentleman was very apologetic because of their new site and the issues that have been occurring. He said that I should be able to access my account tomorrow. Thank you! 🙂

      I did the same thing and it does appear that it wasn’t our problem, but Disney’s. They were super nice about fixing this as well.

    Firstly, IMO Disney had no rights blocking anyones account. If the codes worked on their site then that is THEIR problem not ours. Sorry but that is how I feel. I don’t think any of this is Collin’s fault or anyone elses!

    I used the codes Collin gave us the other day and waited until today to get the additional codes (because it only allowed 10 in a 24 hour period). I was able to log in, but the codes weren’t valid anymore. I don’t think I am blocked, but I haven’t tried getting in again. I was so frustrated with DMR before all this because I didn’t realized I opened an account awhile back with a different email account and just recently opened another one. Well they forced me to close the account with the most points. Annoying!! I decided the DMR program wasn’t worth calling about. Sucks to hear people who lost thousands of points.

    i called and got right to a rep…dial “0” to get to a customer service rep. she said she will pass this to her manager and that there is a glitch in the system. They will unblock my account. It should be fixed by tomorrow
