so how does this program work? do you submit for a check? is the stuff just free at checkout? I’m not familiar – thanks collin. 🙂

  2. Jessica

To the above poster, you have to pay for the items, but then you get back a reward card with the same amount you paid (minus taxes). They send out reward cards once per quarter I believe.

Collin, are you sure it is 2 of each item each day? I read it and it sounded to me like it was a limit of TWO ITEMS (total) per member per day for the 100% rewards.

Also, do you know if these reward cards roll? So we would be able to use the reward cards for another promotion like this? Thanks!

    • Kathy

Recently, I had a problem with Office Max Rewards, not Office Depot. I was told that you cannot use a rewards to get a rewards. You won’t get the rewards back the second time.

However, I don’t know if this is the case at OFFICE DEPOT. I was told that you can use a rewards to get a rewards at Staples.

Office Depot withdrew from my area. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS FREE SHIPPING ONLINE? If so how much do you have to purchase?

Like the previous Jessica, I would like to know CAN REWARDS BE USED TO PURCHASE FUTURE REWARDS?

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I did not have this problem in my case. I have been able to “roll” my officemax rewards twice when they had several free items. pursue your case with the customer service if you encounter this problem.

    • collin

      Hi Jessica-

The on-line ad states “Limit 2 of EACH item per member per day.” 🙂

      • Kiesha

Yes that is what the circular states however on this page about the rewards program https://www.myworkliferewards.com/loyalty/promotionView.do?code=100percent

“Offer is valid in store, online, by phone or fax from 4/11/10 – 4/17/10. Must provide Member Number at time of purchase to receive additional Rewards. Offer is not available in Canada. Limit 2 products per member per day.”

I have a feeling the circular is a mistake and I’m not sure they will honor it since it conflicts with the rewards terms/conditions.

The office depot worklife card is a gift card. They send it out quarterly. You just have to use it by a certain date. I got $27 from my last paper purchases that I am going to use today and get back that same amount plus whatever I buy that equals that amount.

Good program, but don’t buy anything there that has a mail in rebate. I have not got back about $75 in rebates from them.

    • Samantha

I have had no problem with mail in rebates from Office Depot. A couple have taken a little while to process, but I recently got a free calculator and case of paper after rebates.

  4. Joleen

I don’t like how the card is only valid for 90 days.

  5. Aimee

I just signed up for this and they instantly email you a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase but it’s only good in the store. A $50 purchase gets you free next business day delivery online and then if you enter this coupon code 11610387 you get 15% off your total and it still qualifies for the free shipping even after your total goes below $50.

    • Marci

How would they issue the rewards if I purchase $50 worth of the qualifiying items and use a $10 off Staples coupon and a $1 off Energizer coupon? Would I get the rewards card for $50 or would they adjust for the coupons?

  6. Cindy

    Hi all,
I understand how the card works normally, I am just interested in this April 11-17 deal. Do they give you the rewards card at the register like Target does, or will I have to wait until the next quarterly pay period? For instance, can I go buy enough “free” items to turn around and buy myself a new printer?

    • fran

Cindy, you will not get the reward gift card immediately…you get it at the end of the next quarter. Let’s just say you have a $25.00 card to use, and you purchase ink cartridges with this card, you will not receive the 10% from your ink purchase. If you spend $50.00 on ink and use the $25.00 card, you will still get credit for the remaining $25.00.

  7. heather

Looks like what we buy this week will earn us the credit mailed back between Aug. 15-31 (as long as we spend $10 min.), which is good timing for school supplies. Then we have 90 days to use this $$ before it expires. And the policy states that they will NOT roll for another deal at that time, as stated in their policy:

Purchases made with Office Depot Reward or Merchandise Cards do not qualify for Rewards.

  8. anu1c

so after all that being said…. is it worth it then???? I am not a huge office depot shopper, I find their prices high, so I dont know how much benefit I would get for using the credit towards something else that would cost me cheaper else where. Not sure if I am making any sense. Any thoughts?

    • Kris

I understand what you are saying and actually i have even thought about this alot in regards to the ECB and RR at the drugs stores, because what you are saying is if you pay (more than you normally would) for say post it’s but then they give you a gift card and you spend it on something you didn’t really need then what was the point of buying overpriced post its Although unlike groceries, you can stock pile post it’s until the cows come home and not have to worry about them going bad. so i guess the question is how much office supplies do you need. never mind i’m rambling in circles.

  9. Laura

Thanks, but no thanks. I got burned on the Staples rewards thingy like this back in November. I was supposed to get a reward certificate for the Duracell batteries. Haven’t gotten it yet!!!! I called in FEb and was told “oh they’ve been mailed, you’ll get it anytime.” I’m not willing to try this anywhere else for that reason. Give me my reward or gift certificate at the reigster or no thanks.

    • Linda

I understand your frustration with Staples. I had a similar experience where I bought all of this stuff, and was told that I could get a full rebate, and it never showed up. I just called, and they said they’re sending me a check.
Office Depot on the other hand has always been great in my experience. You can track your rewards online, and they always show up. I’ve been a rewards member as long as it’s been around, and always get a nice gift card at the end of every quarter. Last time I got one, I wondered what I could purchase with it. At the cash register, they suggested forever stamps. Genius! Buy lots of them now before the price goes up. It’s an investment in the future, but who doesn’t need stamps for all of the refunds we send in?!

      • kimberley

are you sure you can use it for forever stamps? I know you said the cashier suggested it but was she supposed to?

        • kimberley

Found out the answer to my own question, they are not supposed to be used on stamps.

          • Linda

Hmmmm. . . I totally did. I guess that’s not supposed to happen. I’ll have to ask at my local OD.

  10. Julie

Keep in mind you must spend at least $10 per quarter to receive rewards. Account balances less than $10 will not receive a reward (per letter from Office Depot received in March 2010).

  11. Lori

I was hoping that the reward card could be used to purchase gift cards at the store. Spoke to someone at my local Office Depot and they told me that you cannot use the reward card to buy gift cards. Too bad. If you were able to do so, you’d be able to buy an American Express gift card with the reward card and use the American Express to shop anywhere you’d like. But no go according to this Office Depot. Tomorrow I’ll be calling their corporate office to see whether what I was told is true.

FYI: I recently purchased some items on rebate at Office Max.com. I was told that I could use the rebate amount (that will come in the form of a reward card) to buy anything in Office Max stores except for Office Max gift cards. I was explicitly told that I could buy any other gift cards with it, including American Express. Long story short – I was told by my local Office Max manager (in Denver, CO) that their cash registers could not do the transaction. After many calls and conversations, the District Manager called me. He apologized for the internal confusion Office Max had, telling me that they had changed their policy but apparently some of the stores were still in the dark about it. He assured me that one can indeed buy any gift cards except for Office Max gift cards with a reward card. So . . . if any of you have any issues with this in the future at Office Max, ask to speak to the District Manager!

  12. Mark @ ink cartridges

If you run a small business then all those small savings really do add up over a year, I calculated what I had saved in a year and it was over a thousand pounds!

  13. Cathy

At my elementary school, the PTA collects used ink cartridges. I recycle them at Office Depot (receive $3 each), and then use the rewards card to buy supplies for the teacher’s classrooms. (Teachers request items that the school district does not supply or parents have not donated. This was really great before they imposed the limit of 20 per month.) Back in January, I used the rewards card to purchase a VISA gift card to donate to PTA member that experienced a fire in their home. I called the local store and corporate ahead and both said yes about purchasing a VISA gift card, so I did it. Maybe the rules have changed, or it depends on the local store. I think some of these “free” items could be saved an donated at start of the school year when schools request a backpack of school supplies for needy students (highlighter, stapler, tape, post-its, pens, writing pads, batteries..)

  14. cjs

FYI…check the bottom of your Office Depot receipts now for a coupon of “$10 off a purchase in May of $30 or more”. One printed at the end of my receipt last Thursday, and I happened to catch it. Could make for some cheap printer ink!? Also, most of the office supply stores let you use other ‘office supply store’ coupons – but check with your store to be sure. Hope this helps!

  15. Marci

The wording in the ad and online are different. I was reading on SlickDeals.net that some people called Office Depot and asked which was correct. They said that the Office Depot employees told them that the online ad was correct and it was 2 products per day and not 2 each per day.

Well, I just called Office Depot customer service and the lady told me that the online ad was wrong and the newspaper ad was correct (2 of each per day). So tread carefully with this deal since it seems like Office Depot people are not on the same page. I wouldn’t open any of the packages you have bought until we get some real clarification (hopefully by the end of this week).

    • Stephanie

Thank you Marci. I actually just came from Office Depot and asked two different employees about this as the wording was different online than in the ad. They assured me that it is two products of each per day, not 2 products total per day. With all that said – the did tell me to keep the ad in case I have any issues……but they did not think I would. So how is that for clear and easy to understand. LOL!

  16. Linda

So, I asked 2 different managers today about the ability to buy postage stamps with the Rewards Gift Card, and they both said that that was perfectly fine. You can purchase anything with the Gift Cards except Office Depot Gift Cards. Yay for free stuff!

  17. Samantha

I just got some Office Depot coupons $10/$50, etc. in the mail today. Does anyone know if these can be used on the reward items and, if so, will I still get the full amount before coupons back ( making it a moneymaker) ?

    • Marci

I’ve heard that you will get back the money after coupons and discounts. It’s still a good deal to use the coupons because of less OOP and less you have to spend in the store.

  18. A.D.

Anyone else notice that the list of products is different online than in the store ad? For example, I see the Dymo Labelmaker in the printed ad, but not in the online ad with the other Free after Rewards items…hmmm…
