I have a question I hope someone can answer for me. At Target today I had a problem at the checkout and I have NEVER had a problem. I had a BOGO coupon and then a $1 off coupon and the cashier and the manager told me I couldn’t use both since they were both manufactors coupons!!! I know I’m not crazy cause I have used both before without a problem. Am I wrong the BOGO coupon applies to the one I’m getting free and the $1 off applies to the one I am paying for right?

    • Craig

Shoulda been fine unless items you got were a BOGO deal maybe??

  2. Erin

I also found maybelline pulse perfection mascara on clearance for $2.48 with a save $3 now peel-y coupon on the package!! They only had it on clearance in the one shade… but I’m a huge fan of free mascara! 🙂

  3. tracy

At my Target today, they wouldn’t let me use the $3.00 Target coupon along with the gift card coupon because they both clearly state Target coupon. Oh well, still a good deal.

    • Smith Denise

Same here. Couldn’t use 2 Target coupons. Still a good deal but now I have to clean my windows, doh!

    • Elektra

Glad the Scrubbing Bubbles deal worked for you. I have not had luck. 1st attempt clerk and supervisor said no. Tonight I tried again and decided to not use the $1 off coupons. It was a nightmare. Computer said item not found, clerk went to adjust amount and did $3.99 instead of the starter kit price. Took that off and could not get it to work. Supervisor came over and said it was because coupon says 1 per purchase. I explained several times what a purchase was. Eventually it got straight. It worked out fine in the end though I got
      2 prescriptions paid $6 got $10 card
4 Extend a clean trigger bottles
      3 toilet starter kits
      3 toilet gels
      3 hydro 5’s
      3 hydro 3’s
2 40 count bags of pizza rolls
      1 box of bagel bites
Total after coupons $54.24 (paid that with previous GC’s)
      Got $55 in GC’s (9 x $5, 1 x $10)

so Target paid me 76 cents to take the stuff. That toilet bowl deal though has been a nightmare for me, glad it’s works for others.

    • SaraJC

target said… either take the $3.00 of coupon or the giftcard… when he rang both all the q’s the gift card coupon beeped saying no item attached. bummer… i had trouble with the scrubbing bubbles deal aswell. grrr so frustrating when everything comes out wrong

      • teka

I was not able to use the gc coupon and the target coupon either….I found this a little frustrating because to me the gc is no different than a catalina reward or a register reward. Target says one target coupon per item, so your choice the gc coupon or the $3 target coupon…bummer!

  4. Emm

I’m sure my head will get bit off for this…but I think it’s wrong to use a BOGO AND another coupon. I know one’s for the free one and one’s for the one you’re actually using…but I still feel that that is stretching it a bit.

    JMO.

    • Emm

Especially since a lot of coupons state, in the fine print “Not to be combined with any other offer/coupon.”

      • Michelle M

The manufacturers could EASILY code the BOGO coupons to attach to 2 items if they want to, like a $/2 coupon that attaches to 2 items. So if the manufacturer’s don’t like the stacking, then they can fix it. I’ve even used some BOGO coupons that do attach to 2 items, so an additional coupon can’t be used. I think it’s okay to stack as long as the register accepts it, because the coupons are coded that way.

        • Emm

How many times do cashiers just push it through for you though anyway? I’m just saying, it’s up to us to be honest…

    • Sarah Gaspar

But, the store will be reimbursed by the manufacturer for BOTH coupons.

      • Emm

Not if the fine print states “Not to be combined with any other offer/coupon.”

        • Tilla

the manu will not know if they were used in the same transaction, coupons are packaged and mailed to the clearinghouse. They are not sent with documentation of use

          • Emm

            It’s still fraud…and that’s wrong.

  5. Christine

I wasn’t able to use both the $3/1 Target and $5 Gift Card deal since they both say Target Coupon on them.

  6. Marissa

I got really lucky and they let me use both the $3 Target coupon and the $5 giftcard coupon. I had a really nice young male cashier and as he was scanning the coupons he said he didn’t have any giftcards at his register and asked if I would mind if he just took $5 off right away, making it free. I’m not sure if beepage was avoided because of that…if it was I sure did luck out! It’s still a great deal even without the $3 coupon though.

  7. Michelle M

I did the Scrubbing Bubbles deal today- it worked great.

  8. tiffany

I’ve been able to use both T q’s (as long as one is a GC offer) before without any problems. Been trying to do the SB toilet gel and Fresh Brush deal but my darn T hasn’t restocked on the Starter Kits!!! IMO the q’s will work if you hand the GC q after all other q’s that way the cashier may not remember what q’s she just scanned, if that still doesn’t work then go up to CS afterwards and tell them the cashier forgot to scan your GC q and see if they’ll do it for you. That has worked for me in the past.

  9. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The Windex coupon link is not working. Does anyone have a new one?

  10. Alley

Random Question about SC Johnson Rebate. I just got one in the mail today. I was going to deposit it in my bank account but there was nowhere to sign on the back of the check. Do I just sign it anywhere or do I need to sign it at all. i was just asking because this is the first rebate check I have ever gotten. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated =D

    • Michelle M

I get rebate checks all the time that don’t have a line for signing. Just sign in the same place the line should be- that’s what always works for me.

  11. Tilla

Target’s cash register has really been programmed to crack down. Tonight, many transaction I have done in the past, would not work. I had some of the buy the toilet gel get the brush kits free, buy the spray starter kit get the refill free, the superviser had to override every coupon. It was a nightmare! THey were so nice though, so I appreciate that. My 100 transaction got knocked down to 46 even though they forgot to scan 1.99 coupon still pretty good.

    • Anon

100 transactions?!?!?!?!?!? Are you freakin serious?????

      • Melinda P

No, I think she means her $100 transaction got knocked down to $46, meaning she saved about $54…

      • SaraJC

thats funny that ayone would think that .. 100th transaction lol…. I have issues with one or two transactions and last at least 30 min. when i use coupons and things go wrong. 100 transactions would would be insane. lol

  12. Tilla

On another note…wish we had a general comments section so I could rave about Safeway there, but i’ll do it here. I had over 135 dollars in groceries and paid 45 out of pocket plus received 6 dollars in RR to use later. 4 giant new york steaks, 2 packs of thin cut steaks, 2.5 pounds 7% fat ground beef, 8 boxes of 100 calorie nabisco packs, 5 betty crocker cake mixes, 5 betty crocker frostings, 5 betty crocker brownies, eggs, granola cereal. 3 packages klondike ice cream bars, and 3 dove deodorants. great coupons, preloaded club card offers, and additional 10% off purchase

1 thing to note, the 100 calorie packs are on sale 2/5 but coupons take off 3.49. also the dove deodorant is 1.99 when you buy 3 and i used 3 2.00 coupons. Safeway is extremely coupon friendly and though we don’t have doubles, I don’t feel too sad with deals like that!

  13. muser

    I’m confused at this deal:

    >>Windex Outdoor All-in-One Starter Kit $12.99
Use the $5/1 coupon from the 5/9 SS
Plus, stack with the $3/1 Target store coupon from here
    Pay $4.99
Get back a $5 Target gift card (ONLY if you use the Target gift card coupon from the 5/2 SS)
    Final cost FREE!<<

Isn't this using 2 Target coupons on one purchase? My Target won't even let me stack 1 Manu w/ one TQ (until I bust out the coupon policy, and even then I get sneers and jeers.) How does anyone get away w/ stacking 2 TQs?

    • Angelia

According to my Target (Colorado) yes they are both considered Target coupons so you can only use one coupon. The manager said that if it’s an in-store promotion to get a GC than you can use both the manu. coupon and a Target coupon, but if it’s a printed coupon for a GC than you can not use another Target coupon. Since the printed coupons for getting a GC are relatively new a lot of stores were pushing them through because you can use a store coupon on a GC store promotion. They have since cracked down on it and instructed their personnel that if it’s printed it’s only one store coupon per item. Hope I didn’t confuse you more…..

      • muser

That makes perfect sense, Angelia. I thought I was missing something there. I’ve done the $5 gift card in-store promotions before and I’ve used the $5 gift card coupon before, and always assumed the coupon counted as one Target Coupon since it says that right on the top. I wish people wouldn’t try things even though they know they are against the store’s coupon policy. I think that makes it more difficult for everyone who uses coupons in the long run. Just because a coupon gets pushed through by a careless cashier or a customer service desk that doesn’t want to deal with an obnoxious customer doesn’t mean that it’s okay to do it. The past few weeks I’ve been met with defensiveness when I use a lot of coupons at the Target in my town and I’m starting to wonder if maybe it’s because the cashiers are accustomed to couponing customers who really ARE doing something wrong…

  14. Denise

I can’t find the Target Gift Card coupon in my 5/2 SS. I am in Jacksonville, Florida, do anyone else in my area have the coupon in their circular?

    • Amber J

not all books had them I get a Sun paper and it was not in there but when I went to the corner store and bought the same paper it was in there????

  15. anon

Hi Denise, I live in Jax, Fl. I got the coupon in my inserts on Sunday.

  16. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi – last night I was able to do the Scrubbing Bubbles and Windex deals. A manager did have to override the coupon for the 2-n-1 starter kit but did so happily. The only thing that didn’t work was the $5 gift card coupon for the Windex. I just went to the CS desk and they got it to work just fine.

So excited about the gel sticks-I’ve been wanting to try them!

    Good luck!

  17. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The Air Wick device is actually 6.99 at my store, not 5.99! – still a great deal at 99 cents though

    • SaraJC

the other imotion kits are actually $5.99… the ultra freshmatic is $6.99. I found some vanilla i motion kits on clearence for $3.98

      • SaraJC

lol oops i meant the ultra freshmatic is $5.99… for some reason the i motion spray kits are $6.99 but the i motion scented oil kits are $5.99. At least in the target i go to is how they are selling for.

  18. LisaM

the s c johnson rebate I have sent in 3 the limit everyone came back saying I had already reached my limit, that can not be true because I have just started really doing rebates, but all my others have produced.

  19. Samantha

The Windex deal worked for me and my cashier was really double checking all the coupons, not pushing them through. Had I thought about it being 2 Target Qs, I probably wouldn’t have even done it, though.

Scrubbing Bubbles deal was a no go. I tried the following:
2 of the 2 in 1 starter kits
    2 Toilet Gels
2 refill packs for starter kits

Tried to use 2 – $1 MQs for the toilet gel, 2-free starter kit WYB toilet gel 2- $1 off starter kits and the $5 GC wyb 3 participating products.

Somehow, the cashier wasn’t able to key in the free starter kit b/c it wasn’t up on the screen at all and she said it exceeded the max value of the coupon, anyway. May have had something to do with the order I handed over the coupons, but I just got her to take them all off.

I did find the Hydro razors for 6.99 and made an extra dollar on those!

    • Angie

This was a nightmare for me yesterday. I did the SC toilet deal with 4 SC toilet gels and 2 SC toilet scrubbers. I had the same problem with her not being able to give me the scrubbers free. She had the manager come over on the 1st one and she pushed it through. The 2nd one wasn’t even on the screen to enter as free. She was about to give me the only item there, which was the $3.94 gel. What happened was the $1 on the gel attached to one of the scrubbers and that’s why it wasn’t on the screen. She tried to tell me that it was one per purchase. The manager told me the same thing. I finally convinced them that all my coupons said that and that I was only using 1 per purchase. Then, I get home only to realize they overcharged me $10! This was for the gc’s that were to be free. I called and she tried to tell me that she’d leave a note to refund me $10, but I’m so afraid when I go in they’ll be all confrontational with me again. I would suggest giving the q’s in this order…BOGO free scrubber w/ pur of gel, $1 off gel then $5 GCq. What ever you do, don’t give the $1 off gel q 1st!

      • Samantha

Once I got home, I thought that maybe I should have handed over the GC coupon first so that it would appear ( to the computer LOL) that I was paying full price for all 3 products. Even if the coupon attaches to all 3 products, it’s a Target coupon so it just might work…… maybe I’ll give it a shot and report back. HA! Isn’t it funny how we all swap being guinea pigs for the rest of the hip2save readers? =D

BTW, Collin — I LOVE the drop down archive menu.

        • Amber J

This same thing happened to me except I was purchasing the extend a clean bottles used a $5 off coupon which attatched itself to the bottles plus I had a buy the bottle get a free refill I tried using the $5 gc coupon and they said it wouldnt go through> She pushed it for me but when I had another bottle and refill she said it wouldnt do the free refill b/c it wasnt on the screen so she gave me a body wash free which was the same price? Is this a new system I have never had trouble like this???

          • SaraJC

thats exactly what happened to me… grrrrr

  20. suzanne

Yes! I bought the Green Works on clearance…washing now…love it! The Lavendar smells great (the other scents, well, not so much)

  21. Kim

Tried the scrubbing bubbles deal in Nashville (3 gels and 3 kits). Wouldn’t allow the cashier to give me the 2nd $5 GC and so I just cancelled the transaction. I did think about it afterward and wondered if we had tried to do the $5 GC Q first if it would have gone through???
