Have you heard of TenThousandVillages.com? Well, I posted about this awesome site back in December. Ten Thousand Villages offers unique and handmade gifts, jewelry, home decor and personal accessories from artisans in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. They have some amazing items! Currently, you can score FREE shipping on ANY order– NO minimum! Just use coupon code PICNIC at checkout.

I LOVE jewelry… especially unique pieces, so I’m very excited that they’re offering up FREE shipping again! I scored quite a few pieces of jewelry last time they were offering free shipping and was really happy with each piece! If you’re looking for a unique gift or even a little treat for yourself, I would highly suggest browsing around Ten Thousand Villages!

Here are some of my favorite finds:

Wrapped Bead Earrings ONLY $2.50 (were $10)

I have these and love them!

Brass Spiral Earrings ONLY $3.50 (were $14)

Rose Choker ONLY $3 (was $12)

Frosted Glass Bead Necklace ONLY $3 (was $12)

Mango Soap $4.50

These soaps make great, very unique additions to gift baskets!

Beaded Cuff Bracelet $18

I own a similar looking bracelet and always get compliments on it!

If you decide to snatch up any items, I’d love to hear what you choose! 🙂

  7. Nicole

page not found…so they are SOLD OUT?

  8. Jess

I think that the site is experiencing some technical difficulties or is updating. After clicking on the “shop” button, I got a message saying to “select a department to begin shopping.” However, there is is no list or drop down to select a department.

Site not working for me either. Will try again in the morning. I’ve never bought anything from them directly, but a little local fair trade store carried a lot of their stuff and I have bought TONS. Always thought their stuff made great stocking stuffers.

A little about Ten Thousand Villages, one of my favorite places to shop……There are a series of these shops in the United States and Canada, and they are part of the Mennonite Church. Specifically, run through the Mennonite Central Committe, essentially , i guess, a social justice, community and peace outreach part of the Mennonite Church. They buy goods from artisans in third world countries, paying them a fair wage for their goods. They support Fair Trade. I have shopped at Ten Thousand Villages for over 25 years, and love the place and the concept! So it’s a win-win situation…artisans from developing countires earn a fair wage for their work, and you get a unique item (jewelry, clothing, ,usical instruments, etc) for a good price.

I’m in PA too and just realized there is a store right in my town (Media!) I can’t wait to check it out in person. 🙂

I started to get something, but then I thought, wouldn’t I rather have a story behind such a unique piece? I’m going to Peru next year, I think I’ll get a piece while I’m there so I can remember the circumstances behind how I got it. 🙂

Thanks for sharing 10,000 villages with your readers. We have a local store here in FL, and I love any excuse (gifts for all occasions) to go in. I’m never disappointed, and people love the fact that they get a nice gift and know that the money spent on the gift will go directly to the artisans. This is my favorite place to pick up a new, inexpensive piece of jewelry that looks like it came from a high-end boutique. Hope everyone enjoys their purchases!
