Wow, I could eat that whole bowl of Guac. Yum.

    • Les

Everyone should try NEWMAN’S OWN BLACK BEAN CORN SALSA! This is the best salsa ever! Would go great in Guac too! You can use it in soooo many recipes 😉 Truly has a unique yummy flavor!

I emailed the Commission to find out if California avocados are available for purchase on the east coast (i’m in PA)… I’ll let everyone know what I find out! 🙂

    • Rachael

p.s. my husband must have been Latino in his former life, he makes THE BEST Latin food including the most delicious guacamole EVER! 🙂

      • Kiyomi

        what is his recipe?!

  3. Kelley

I may be wrong, but I am thinking that the Haas avocados are the California type… we are in Florida, and while I really don’t like the Florida grown Avocados (they are much higher in sugar content for some reason), the Haas type are available here. I am going to try to use these coupons tonight at Publix and we’ll see what happens!

    • Heather

I would love to hear if it works in the Florida Publix stores. I’m in Florida too! 🙂 🙂 Love avocados!

      • Kelley

Ok, bought four tonight at Publix… worked just fine. The stickers on the Hass avocados will say they are from California.

  4. Kelley

sorry… that is Hass, not Haas…. and apparently this type can come from California, Mexico, Dominican Republic and elsewhere. Wonder how we know if it is from Cali or not?

    • Jennifer

Alot of times, the little sticker on them says where they have come from

  5. Lisa

I JUST USED THIS COUPON AT MY WALMART, THEY WERE $1.28 EACH BEFORE COUPON. PAID $1.56 FOR 2.

    • Mary

  6. deb

Zipode 90210 also works for this.

  7. Tiphanie

Can someone tell me what it looks like? I’ve looked 3 times and can’t find it.

    • Cindy H.

make sure you are using the zip code Collin mentioned.

    • Trailyard

      I’m with Tiphaney, I can’t find them … I tried 90210 and 85003? 🙁

      • Shelly T.

There is a button on SmartSource that you can click to choose the product and California Avocado is there. I found it using 85003.

Most avocados sold in stores are Hass avocados. They are the ones with the thick, purply black skin and the creamy texture. The majority of the avocados grown in the US are grown in Southern California but avocados are also imported from Mexico and Central and South America. California grown avocados are available everywhere, you just need to look for the little sticker that says California on it. I am pretty sure stores have to disclose where produce is from by federal law. I live in Southern California (about 40 miles from Fallbrook, which is the avocado capital of the world) and usually the large avocados are california grown and the smaller ones are grown elsewhere. The Hass are in season right now and many of the thinner skinned varieties are out of season so you probably don’t need to worry about those. Just look for the sticker.

I could not get it to print, came back later and said I had printed them.

my local SuperWalmart (Sacramento) has been having avocados at 3 for $1 lately…they aren’t always top quality though….there must be a bumper crop of avocados this year…

  11. Trailyard

    Yeah … I got’em this time 🙂

  12. Megan♥

I wish the ones my store sells looked as perfect as the one in that pic! 🙁 I stopped buying them because they are so bruised and nasty.

    • BrandyK

Here’s the secret to a perfect avocado:

Buy a hard green one and let it sit on your counter for two to three days. When it turns black and soft to the touch (but not mushy!) cut it open- I promise you will have the perfect avocado!

      YUM!!!

  13. Tiphanie

I STILL CANT FIND THEM AND YES I HAVE USED BOTH ZIP CODES MENTIONED HERE. oH WELL.

    • Tiphanie

OK i am an IDIOT i found them.

  14. TrishaS

It tells me I’ve already printed them, tried both zips 🙁

    • Les

You have to go to smartsource.com on ur own. DON’T use someone’s old link! 92124 is another Cali link. Just incase.

  15. Kris

Thanks!! I love avacados with just lemon juice and salt and pepper! The zip Collin gave worked for me…..

  16. jen

  17. jodi

    Works with my zip 85205

  18. Kimi

I don’t know if they’re the Cali variety, but I see avocados at 2/$1 sometimes — free avocados here I come! (hoping…)

  19. marcia

What is the exp. on these??just womdering how long i could hold out for a sale 😛

  20. Maria

They expire 8/4/10 so you’ve got just under a month…
I was just temped to buy some avocados yesterday at my local fruit market, and I decided to wait, for a coupon I guess! Yea, I love when that happens! Thanks Collin!

  21. CeeCee

Thanks Collin!!! Avocados are a summer staple on our table. Thanks for making them a little cheaper this week! In July and August, I’ve seen the large ones in my area for as cheap as 3 or 4 for $1.00. I heard this year is suppose to be a bumper crop for Cali Avocados that the season is going to start earlier than usual.
