Have You Found Your Favorite Printer?!

Due to the large number of emails that I receive related to printers and ink, I thought it only appropriate to ask all of you to help me out with this topic of discussion. Although my printer works just fine, I am definitely not impressed with it enough to advertise and promote it on Hip2Save. So that brings me to the question at hand…do you have a printer that you absolutely love (or hate..it is always important to know what printers to avoid in the future). Here is an example of one of the emails that I recently received about this topic from reader, Amy…

I would love a post asking people what the best printers are out there. Since we are all frugal on this site, I would love to take into account purchase price, price of toner, and how long toner last. My boss lets me print some at work because we have an amount we are charged for regardless if we hit it (and we never do) but at home is a different story. I only print the ones I DEFINITELY want. This would just be a great way for everyone to help out each other when certain excellent printers go on sale. I love your site and thanks!

Do YOU have a favorite printer?! If so, please share the brand name, model number and about how much you paid for it. What do you like about this printer?

Where do you purchase your ink? Do you have any tips for snagging cheap ink that is not of poor quality?

For all you experienced couponers, how much do you spend on ink each month printing coupons (this is great information for new couponers who often wonder if they will spend more printing the coupons than what they will save using the coupons)?

If you have ideas, suggestions, feedback etc, let us know in the comment section below.

I absolutely LOVE my new printer! I just bought it after my lexmark went out. It is a Kodak ESP 3250all in one with printer/scanner. It was $80 ,but the ink refills are dirt cheap! $9.99 for the black and 17.99 for color and if you buy the double pack it is only 23.99! I print ALOT and with the lexmark I was going trough 2 double packs a month at $40 a pop! It prints fast and I have barely put a dent in the ink since I got it, and I have been printing like a mad woman just to see how it prints! It also prints fantastic photos and you can put your sd card directly into the printer to print them. It did not come with a usb cable, which may deter some, but I just used my cable from the lexmark. Most of us have a ton of them from other printers anyway.

I have a HP Officejet 6500 Wireless. It is always out of ink & the HP cartridges are $10 each. I hardly ever print anything in color but one of the 4 cartridges is always out of ink. I definitely would not advise anyone to buy this one!

love HP – Epson is horribly expensive.

I just ordered a printer. I ordered a DELL (I really want to love it—it is beautiful). It works fine with my DELL computer but I have yet to figure out how to get it to print from my MAC! 🙁

A little bit off track, but will save on paper. I work at a school and use the back of paper that old notes or quizzes are written on to print my coupons.

I have a Brother MFC9420 and I HATE it. It is very loud and super slow. I order my ink and paper products from a company called Medical Arts Press. It’s a medical supply company, which I own a medical based company, but I think everyone can order from them. They office supplies are about $30 cheaper than Staples – but they are actually ordered FROM Staples. Gotta love it!

We were EXTREMELY blessed when we found our printer (Canon S300) at a yard sale for only $5. Since I mainly use it for coupons, I have it set to only print black. I order the cartridges from abacus24-7.com in multiples of 5 for ONLY $9 including S/H. It may not be the fanciest out there but has worked nonstop without any trouble for a year now.

We don’t like our HP Deskjet 5740 printer, which we use with an apple computer. After being away on a trip, when I came back, it wouldn’t print coupons from coupons.com. We tried everything to no avail. We’ve been thinking about getting a new computer, so I hope people will leave comments here. BTW, my son got a Cannon computer at Good Will – it seems to work OK.

I have a Brother HL-2040. It is a laser printer and prints only black and white. It is VERY fast and the toner cartridge has lasted me about 3 years, even printing tons of coupons! Ran me about $100 when I was in college a couple of years back. I love it!

I have a Kodak ESP3. It was $89 at walmart and ink is super cheap. I usually buy online at 123inkjets and get black ink cartridges for $6 each and color for $9 each (have to order 3 of each to get that price). It doesn’t do as well printing pictures but is great (and cheap) for printing coupons.

Is there a new post on printers? Mine is about 4 years old & needs replacing (HP tech support says the error code is indicating a print head issue)

I would greatly appreciate if you could share what printer do you use, I have my old HP psc 1209 all-in-one printer and lately when I print coupons the barcode seems to be too close to one another and it is not scanning at stores…
