Do you know if they’ll let me use my Staples rewards with this? I have a $30 staples rewards to use and if I can use it with one of these it’ll be awesome.

I used the coupon today on an item that I purchased Monday (I had them do a return and purchased the item again using the $10 off $50 coupon and used my Staples rewards. The item was 59.99 before the $10 off $50 coupon and my rewards brought the total down to $43. dollars (Not bad for an item that orginally cost $139.99)

Keep in mind these new coupons have an awful disclaimer on them. The amount to reach must be BEFORE any discounts, including rebate amounts! Yuck! 🙁

I don’t think that items that have a rebate are excluded, just “instant savings” offers.. at least that is how the coupon reads.

P.S. The 19690 code does not work online!

We’re sorry, but this coupon is not valid online. To use it, you must pay at a register. Please ask a store associate for assistance.

That is what I get for both the $5 and $10. FYI

The Office Depot coupon was awesome for me at Staples – my son’s school supply list requires a 2 inch binder which costs $8 for a nice and sturdy one that he is actually strong enough to open. I was dreading that purchase so much that I kept procrastinating it. But, by getting two of the 9.99 photo paper which are 25cents after rebate, the $8 binder, two penny glues, and a handful of the other 25 cents items we could use, I was able to use that Office Depot coupon and everything works out to free after the Staples rebate!

A heads up with the Office Depot Coupon when you use it at Staples. I attempted to use it Sunday at Staples, and the store manager said that he could not take off the $10 off a $25 purchase if no item in my order was $10 or more. He explained that in order to deduct the coupon, he would need to deduct it off an individual item, not deduct it from the total. I asked if he could downgrade the value of the coupon to $9.99 since that was the highest $$ item I had, and he said he couldn’t. I just added a backpack to my order so I could use the coupon. This almost makes me wonder if he was blowing smoke!!

You got a bum deal, he could have just taken that amount off as you asked, or he just needed to keep adjusting prices of various items until your total savings was $10. My Staples has always applied the Office Depot coupons for me even without an item over $10. Yes, they reduce the price of the item(s) you purchased. It is easy if you have an item over $10, but often I don’t and they will just adjust two (or more) items in order to reach a total “coupon savings” of $10. In my last shopping trip I mentioned above, they charged me $0.02 (-9.97 from sale price) for one photo paper and charged me $9.98 (-.01 from sale price) for the other for a total “coupon savings” of $9.98 (I didn’t argue the 2cents). Since I was dealing with rebate items, I know they make sure you pay a penny or two for the item so that it will still trigger the rebate. I don’t think there is any rhyme or reason as to how they decide which items to take the amounts off, but as long as they come with a few pennies of the $10 and my rebates still trigger, I’m a happy couponer.

Yeah, what the Staples did here, was take $5 off 2 of say a $9.99 item or whatever to make it work! Yay. I would go back and tell em that. HTH

    • Marcie

he was totally blowing smoke! My staples store manager said that it didn’t matter what price range my items were as long as I reached $25. I would complain to a districit manager if you can and point out that there are a lot of other Staples who don’t make up rules like he told you.
      LAME.

    • Dee

I knew that it sounded kinda awkward. It just did not make any sense. $25 bucks is $25 bucks! I am definitely going to contact corporate and ensure they know about this. That was just not right!!
