Can you use a $1 off coupon on the paper towels even if it’s free and will the register automatically give you the paper towels for free or do I have to mention it to the cashier.

    • Brooke

My store lets me use coupons on “free with purchase” promos ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Brooke

And the free item is automatically deducted ๐Ÿ™‚

      • gloria

        Thanks Brooke and Chrissy

  2. Chrissy

Usually the register will automatically bring it up as free, but I would recommend checking your receipt before your leave the store just to be sure. Can’t hurt to try to use the coupon and see what happens – just have the cashier scan the coupon before you ring up your other products so the paper towels value won’t be free yet.

  3. Salinia

FREE paper towels??? I couldn’t find any deals about free paper towels from Collin’s post. Thanks

    • Gillian

“Buy $25 or more of select P&G products, Get a Free Bounty Basic Paper Towels 8 pk. ($7.99 value)”

  4. Mitch

The Sobe by me is $1.89, it pays to buy at Target at $1 each. I hope there is a giftcard deal there before those coupons expire!

    • M

It shouldn’t matter with your BOGO coupon…right? CVS gives you one free and so does the coupon, no matter what the price! So that means FREE SOBE….at least for me! I got a great stash!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Melissa R.

I don’t recall..but I think there’s a max value on the Sobe of $1.69, so if her store is $1.89, she’s paying .20 for every 2 bottles. Not a bad deal, but not free either.

        • Melissa R.

i really need to read user names b4 posting LOL. Should have said He, not she. Sorry Mitch!!

      • Sarah

Plus your tax will be more if the price is higher and the item is taxable in your state. I like paying hardly any tax at Target since they subtract their GC from the taxable amount and they have the store q’s on their site ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Aimee

My CVS had sobe for $1.79 and the B1G1 and the coupon has a max of $1.50 so the cashier could only do the coupon for $1.50 but I’m still happy about paying about .15 each!

  5. julie

so if i go today *(saturday) what deal will come up on the sobe’s, this week’s ad of .88cents each or the ad starting sunday buy1get1….i really was hoping to get my sobe’s today!!

    • Anonymous

Next week’s BOGO will come up. At least that’s what happens to me.

  6. Bobby

I tried printing out the South Beach bars coupon two weeks ago when they last went on sale at CVS and it said there were “no prints available for this campaign” even though there’s still a banner on the South Beach website advertising a coupon.

    • ash

i couldnt get the south beach coupon to print either….kinda bummed cause these are actually really tasty!!

  7. Jennifer

Does anyone know the limit on the bogo free sobe?

    • Lauren

      6 bogo deals (12 sobe’s) per transaction.

      • Lauren

i take it back, there seems to be no limit this week. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Rebekah

at mine there isnt a limit ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Amy J

My coupons are for different amounts on the Ragu & Skippy (I’m in Orlando) so I plan on doing:
    2 Ragu
    4 Skippy
    total $10
    – .60/2 Ragu
    -.60/1 Skippy( x4)
    =$7 oop
    rec. $3 ECB
    =$4 (or .66ea!)

  9. M

I went to CVS today and SOBE was not ringing up B1G1 but still $.88. The cashier was really nice and worked with me and worked it out so I scored FREE SOBE! There was NO LIMIT printed in the ad, but I stuck with the 12 bottles like the last time they did it. Don’t want to make anyone mad…since I plan on going everyday this week! So glad to have 5 CVS stores close by!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. julie

just went and got my sobe’s, they rang up as the b1g1, went to 2 stores and split my transaction of 38 total so as to not take too many from one store. the 2nd store tried telling me i could only use 1 coupon (per purchase), i hate how uneducated clerks are. I tried to explain to her that EVERY coupon reads that or they may say transaction, which is what I had on the counter i was trying to purchase. The shift sup came out and took care of me with no problem after I told her i didn’t agree with her. We did this at their store last time with no problems either, it amazes me the difference 1 cashier can make.

    • Ellie

I had the same problem about one coupon per transaction when I was in VA visiting family. The manager at the store came and agreed with the cashier. I was only trying to use two coupons. I was so mad I made her take all four of them off which irritated both of them. HA! They said it was because “people like you abuse coupons”. I had to hold myself back since I was only using two coupons and getting other items without a coupon. I took my coupons to my local CVS where the manager there told me tonight that he loved customers that use coupons because they usually visit his store more than once a week and the more transactions they have the better.

  11. Terah

I went this evening and bought the Sobe water, but at my CVS it was ringing up $.88 a bottle. So the clerk would only take off $.88 (for my bogo free coupon)….makes it out to $.44 a bottle, which isn’t bad. Just a little frustrating when the advertised deal bogo and with a coupon I should get 2 free!

    • MissyLiz

well, technically the advertised deal is for 8/1 through 8/8, you just didn’t get lucky and have a store start the sale early….don’t cry about false advertising

  12. Mila

Hi guys. I’m very new to this. Did my first real coupon shopping at target today. Had a good 60-70 coupons. $138 went down to $67. So happy. Still have a lot to learn.

I have my eyes on CVS now, but much more apprehensive about it. What exactly are does credits? Those it go on your card, but you can’t use them for a couple of months? Not sure what it means for the check out. For example, the Gillette Pro Glide scenario up above says the total after coupons is $5.97. Then there is a $5.00 Ecb bringing the total to .97. This is where I’m confused. Do we still pay the $5.97 at the register and later on enjoy the $5.00 ECB, or do we actually play only .97 at the register? Hope this makes sense.

Also, is that Sobe deal correct? Can we really use a buy one get one free coupon on a store sale that says the item is already buy one get one free in order to get both free?

    • Anna @ Frugal For You

You pay w/ Qs for the Proglide $5.97 out-of-pocket THEN get the $5 ECB to print at the bottom of your receipt. You can do a 2nd transaction and use that $5 ECB for whatever else (not giftcards) or wait until whenever (before it expires). I like to make multiple transactions to keep out-of-pocket expense to a minimum.

Check out Hip’s CVS Follow Me Monday video on the sidebar for ideas.

    • Shannon

Congrats on your Target trip! I usually don’t do that well there, but you will learn to pick and choose.

I LOVE CVS! Yes, you are correct. The ECB (Extra Care Bucks) will print at the end of your receipt and are valid for 1 month. So if you purchase the Pro Glide, you will pay $5.97 OOP (out of pocket), and get a $5.00 ECB back to use on a future purchase. The key is to ROLL these ECBs from week to week so that you will be paying a minimal amount every week OOP. It is a little costly at first to get this stash of ECBs, but you will soon discover how fun it can be! Start small until you get the hang of it.

Yes, the Sobe deal is correct. If you have an intelligent cashier, you should get them both free, and have to pay tax only (I’m pretty sure that these are taxed…). Good luck!

      • Mila

Thanks guys! I think I’m starting to understand. I watched the video for Walgreens. A bit confusing, but I think I’m getting there.

So, if we buy an item that gives you ECB, can we still use a coupon on that item? For example, lets say that Pringles is advertising a $1 ECB with purchase and I go in there with a $1/1 Pringle coupon, will I still get the ECB? I’m assuming that the answer is yes, but wanted to make sure.

I noticed that CVS has an item to coupon ratio for their RRs. Does Walgreens have the same? Will I have to worry about fillers?

Sorry for all the questions ๐Ÿ™‚

        • Anna @ Frugal For You

You can use a coupon for an item even if it wil give you an ECB. In fact you can stack a CVS store Q and manuf Q and Q from the magic coupon machine (price scanner) and a $x off $xx too- just make sure you hand the $x off $xx first. CVS does not have a coupon ration like Walgreens. If your price for the item goes to negative because of the coupons, the register may lower the value of the coupon. But this does not happen often.

        • Melissa R.

A little helpful advice…start with one drug store. Trying to work all 3 you are confusing yourself. Pick one, learn the ins & outs and how to work the deals. Once you get familiar and comfortable, then if you want, add another store.

I used to only do CVS deals, but this past spring (shortly after I started reading Colins blog) started doing Walgreens. It was hit or miss the first 2 months, letting RRs expire b/c I’d forget about the short exp date! Learning to add fillers b/c you need an item to coupon ration. But I kept on and got better, and rolling the RRs pretty consistent for over 2 months now.

This past week I did my first Rite Aid transaction. I spent a little more OOP than I figured, but still overall, not bad for just jumping into their wellness program. Plus, I’ll get some of my money back with the SCR.

Anway, to help keep all my ‘paper money’ straight, I started to keep track on my desk calendar. I write the amount in specific ink in the date box. CVS = red, Walgreens = black. And Rite Aid is blue. Once I use them, I cross it off. And so far none of my exp dates have crossed with the other stores.

Sorry so long. Good luck with whatever store you choose!

  13. Shelly

Anyone able to see the Dunkin Donuts Coffee Q? If so, what zip did you use? Thanks in advance!

  14. Ryan

I went today and got my 8 SOBE.

FYI on the Head and Shoulders BOGO Q. It has a max of 4.74 stated on the Q and my clerk wouldn’t budge. I just put them back.

Still scored very well this trip. Got 8 Sobe, 1 Colgate Toothpaste, and one box of Kotex that they paid me .50 to take:)

    • Shelly T.

I was able to use the BOGO free Head & Shoulders at my CVS. I guess it depends on your store/cashier.

  15. Tina in Virginia

I went to CVS three times this week and each time I scanned my Extra Care card at the magic red machine, I got the same coupons: 79 cents off a Dove candy bar and $1 off CVS Sunscreen. I already have plenty of sunscreen but the Dove bars were 50 cents this week, so each time I got one I made 29 cents. Weird, huh?

Also, did anyone try making the photo book? As a longtime scrapbooker who is considering going digital (mainly due to space considerations!) I was disappointed that beyond the cover page, the photo arrangement is randomly done by the computer! Not in any order, nor can you change the order. But, as my 10-year old daughter pointed out to me, “Hey, Mom, it’s free!” (this week, because of the ECB deal.) I don’t think I will be making those regularly, though. Anyone have any thoughts on those books?

    • Heather

I did the photo book deal at CVS this week. I am a big fan of Shutterfly but thought I’d give it a try since it was FREE. I was bummed that it only prints on one side. They put all my pictures in randomly but I was able to move them around and arrange them how I wanted. I also added text and I could add borders and change the size of the pictures. I was happy with how it turned out but they didn’t offer near the options Shutterfly does and I wouldn’t pay 7.99 for it..

      • jvkom

I agree about Shutterfly! I love them and have made several photobooks on their site. I always wait until they are running a sale. And their customer service is exceptional…my latest book didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted so they credited me with a free book to redo it.

    • Samantha

Yes, you can manipulate the photos, add text, borders, etc. it’s just not super user-friendly. However, they are in the process of doing updates to the Kodak machines.

      • Tina in Virginia

My store must not have had the same machine your stores had…! This one did not allow me to change the photos on the pages. The store employees said they used to have the other kind of machine, but it was taken out! It also did not have the option for the 6×8 book, so they let me do the 8×10 book for the same price instead, which I appreciated. Still, I think I will try Shutterfly next time.

the 3 CVS stores near me in MA all let you move the pictures around…that’s too bad.

Hey Everyone….I am new to RiteAid and CVS since they don’t have any in Hawaii but since I’m back home in CT with my parents I want to try them. So I was looking at some of the scenarios in red that Collin has posted. Can I make my oop even less if i combine some of these scenarios and then use a $5/20 or one of those type of coupons? This is my question for both CVS and Rite Aid. So do I buy items that ring up to that amount before coupons…then hand the cashier that coupon first and then all of my manufacturers coupons too? So then my oop is alot less and hopefully I have some ecbs to use for my next trip or some single check rebates (for Rite Aid)? Thanks for your help!!!

    • Anna @ Frugal For You

Yup, That’s right. Use the $5/$20 first.

    • Bobby

Erin–just F.Y.I. Longs Drugs is owned by CVS/Pharmacy so you can still do CVS deals in Hawaii. ^_^

  17. Christy

Buy three Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection Oral Rinse (33.8 fl oz). Regular price $5.99, on sale for $3.99. Use three $2.00/1 in today’s PG insert. Pay $6 plus tax and get a $5 ECB back for a net cost of about 0.33 cents each (plus tax)!

    • Lisa

This is a great deal on the Crest mouthwash…heads up on the scope/oral B scenario – the scope coupon is only 75 cent off each and the oral B coupon is 75 cents off two manual brushes so it doesn’t work out the way it is listed.

      • Melissa R.

coupons are regional, so that scenerio will only work if you got those coupon values. My Scope was also .75 and the Oral B is .75 off 1 Pulsar, Cross Action, Advantage OR any TWO Indicator or Cavity Defense TBs

    • LeAnna

Krissy thanks for the crest pro health tip. It is a great buy and I was out of mouthwash!!!

  18. Jennifer

I ran to CVS this morning to get B1G1 vitamins for the kids (with coupons from today’s paper!)….while there I noticed the Gallon milk was on sale for $3.19 with a $1ecb reward.

    • Ronni

I’m in CA and the Milk is only $2.79..but there is no mention of ECBs, I’ll have to check, Thanks.

I am having a hard time getting the Sobe coupons to print off the game website. It tells me to redeem my prize. I hit print coupon and nothing happens. It just brings me back to the beginning of the game? What am I doing wrong?

    • beca

check to make sure your popup blocker is off and look at the coupon help link below the ‘print your coupon’ link. there are certain quirks with different browsers they clarify there. good luck!

  20. Anonymous

Never mind…I tried it again and it worked this time. The only thing I did different this time is picking a different character. I am just excited to be getting free sobe!!

  21. Erin

Could someone tell me where I could find a $5/$20 CVS coupon?

    • maria

if you give them your email, you can get a 4/20 coupon. just go in the store and give it to them.

  22. maria

the toothpaste is a great deal because at .24 cents, its almost like its free. the way i figure it, every four times i go, i get a dollar. so every one time i go, i earn a quarter. so if you scan your green bag tag, you really are earning a quarter, so your not paying that for the toothpaste—you’re accumulating enough (a dollars worth) to get back in a lump sum of a dollar. i just wish the limit was higher!

i also have a question: I have a ECB card that i lost and i had eleven extra bucks on it, attached to that card number. is there any way i can get those bucks back??

    • Crissy

I was able to call CVS & request a replacement card after I lost mine. Its the same card # & had all my limits, bag tag scans, etc..just like my original card. The bad part was that it took a few weeks to get it. I was able to provide my phone# to the cashier & still make purchases as if I had my card…I just couldn’t use the magic coupon machine & that was frustrating.

    • Samantha

I coupon quite a bit and have gotten to the point where I don’t get toothpaste unless it is totally free or a moneymaker unless I am trying to use a $5/$25 coupon or something. Keep in mind you are paying tax even on free items. That being said, if you are just getting started out and don’t have tons of toothpaste, .24 is a good deal!

On the EBs, if your store doesn’t take expired EBs, you might be out of luck, anyway if it has been very long since you lost the card. According to, you can order a new card with your same account number by calling 1-800-SHOPCVS.

Whenever I sign up for a program, I put one keychain card on my ring, give one to my husband if it’s something he will use and keep the wallet card in my firebox as a backup.

no they wont give you back any ecb that print in store last time when they had the shick razar deal and you get $10 ecb it was we had a storm that came down pouring out of nowhere as i came out of the store and i made them aware of and proof of it and that proof that it was not spend cvs says they are sorry about the lost of my ecb but they cannot issue an in-store printed ecb earn from purchases i also send an email and i was told the same thing that after an ecb has printed out on your reciept they cannot get you another one if it is lost or destroy even when there is proof you have not spent it i felt so bad as i did that deal just because it has an ecb back as my savings. so good luck maybe you will get a nicer person than whom i got.

I had a huge issue with CVS today. I tried to buy 12 Sobe using 6 b1g1 free coupons. The cashier told me that she had to call a manager about the coupons. The manager stated that the coupons are copies and so they can only accept 1. I was annoyed, obviously they are not copies, as each coupon has a unique number on it. Then she told me that they state only one coupon per transaction. I told her that I didn’t want them then, and took my CVS card back. The cashier got real snippy and yelled at me, “you didn’t have to snatch it out of my hands!” I told them I have use these exact same type of coupons before in this store and they refused. I can’t believe how each cashier makes up their own rules. Has anyone else had issues with this at CVS?

    • jvkom

I have not had this issue but I’ve had issues at Target. It just gets me bc it’s not like we are doing anything wrong. The cashiers act like we are taking money out of their personal pockets. Why not be glad that people are able to save money…especially when the economy is the way it is right now.

    • Jess

I had exactly the same issue!

    • Juliene Bubeck

I’ve never had that issue with CVS but I have had it at Target. I would go home and call CVS main # and get their coupon policy and take that with you and try again. Some people are just not informed.

    • LeAnna

send them an email. I did…and they had the district manager call me. Tell them how embarrassed you were/are. If I go in and mildly embarrassed, I don’t play it up. But if a person insults me or is that rude to me, I pretty much expect them to do something! I don’t always expect monotary value…but I do expect things to change. They can limit the amount of b1g1 q’s you can use-it says that in policy. However…I would then stand there and do 10 transactions. Why in the world would they not be nice to you? so irritating…

  24. Shelly

Anyone able to see the Dunkin Donuts coffee coupon? I so, what zip are you using?? Thanks!

  25. Betsy

Does anyone know what zip to use to get the Dunkin Donuts Coffee coupon? It’s not showing up when I click on the link. I tried 90210 but that didn’t help…

  26. Wendy

I’ve played the Sobe game several times now and always win the BOGO coupon. I played today so I could print a couple of coupons and won a $10 Itunes gift card. Woo hoo – Happy Birthday to my soon-to-be 16-year-old son!

  27. Kris

I had the strangest CVS experience today in Columbus, OH. The CVS closest to me said that the Sobe manufacturer told them the B1G1 coupons were not from them and not to accept them. I told her I printed them from their website, she said I know but we can’t take them. Then I told her, the Tails game that we get the coupons from is advertised right on the Sobe bottles, she still wouldn’t take them. So I everything in my cart back and drove to another CVS, thankfully they took the coupons no problem. I got 10 Sobes, four Ragu sauces and two Skippy peanut butters. I used the $4/$20 coupon I found in my inbox and that expired today, 5 B1G1 Sobe coupons, 2 $.60/2 Ragu, 2 $.40 Skippy coupons and one ECB I had from a couple weeks back, my total came to $3.44. I LOVE CVS!!

    • Anon

I had a strangest day at CVS too!! I tried to do the free Bounce paper towel deal with TP and 3 hair color. I had 3 free coupons for hair color and $4off/ $20 CVS email coupon.
The hair color coupons took off $9.99 each. My total went negative so the cashier scaned one of the hair color twice then told me only I have to pay is tax. Mmmm…? (My receipt show one extra hair color which I didn’t get)
I don’t think thats right but its OK cuz I got 3 hair color, 16pk Charmin,Dawn hand renewal,8pk Bounty Basic and 8 sobe for $2.52.

    • kodi_lynn

Kris, which Columbus OH CVS did you go to? I frequent the New Albany & Polaris area ones & was going to hit them up this week. I might avoid those if they are giving people issues…

  28. lisa

Thanks all. I just sent CVS an email about the situation. We will see what happens:)

  29. Rebekah

Went to CVS this morning got 32 bottle of Sobe Life water and 10 24 Ct Excedrine and the total equaled after coupons 1.19. ๐Ÿ™‚ good way to start the week.

  30. Andie

Check out the Oral-B toothbrushes for clearance! I found some ringing up for 1.49 AND they worked with the Crest Pro-Health deal! Also, for those of you having problems with the BOGO deal, I have an email from CVS corporate regarding this I could forward you. Just leave me a comment on my blog.

  31. Jackie Simpson

I can’t find the CVS body wash coupon. Help appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚

  32. Lisa

    Just did this….
    1 Gillete Proglide used $4/1 = $5.97 + $5 ECB
    2 M&M’s Pretzels used $.75/2 = $.25 + $1ECB
    1 Colgate Total Advanced used $1/1 =$1.99 + $2ECB
Paid $8.21 and got $8 in ECB
Then turned around and bought 2 – 16 count pkgs of CVS AAA batteries B1G1 for $9.49.
    I used the $8 in ECB paid $1.49! = everything for $9.60

    Thanks ladies!!! This is fun:)

  33. MsKittyclipsinVA

will CVS accept my $4 off $20.00 if it expired on Aug. 1st (today is Aug. 4th)… I’m just checking my e-mail ๐Ÿ™

    • Amy J

  34. maku1dr
