walgreens not accepting manufacturers coupons with store coupons, anybody knows?mess with walgreens shopping everytime

    • Mo

Hey – I just had that happen (doubt you’re looking back at this post now though LOL) – the lady tried to tell me she couldn’t take the store and a mfr together… So I said that it was my understanding you could stack them. Then she got huffy and said that the computer would decide but that she didn’t think it would take it because I had three items, three mfr coupons and then the one store coupon from the August booklet (that should apply once to each item). It went through though… she seemed surprised. Never had that problem before… I guess I may have to start lugging store policies around with me 🙁

  2. julie

is the ink refill a deal good??? does refilling it work well & do you get your moneys worth??

    • abigail.sefkow

I have found that the ink refill work well for black ink, I have never had luck with refilling my color ink. What is nice is they do a test to make sure that it will work, and you don’t pay if it doesn’t pass their “test.” I have found it to be a lot cheaper in the long run. I hope this helps!

      • Kate

I’ve had mixed luck with ink refill. One worked and the other leaked all over the inside of my printer. I tried doing this when they were running their Earth Day promo, so it was super cheap. Not sure if I will do it again, I think saving my empty cartridges and doing the $3 rebate at Staples is for me.

    • Carly McQuillin

yes refilling your ink at walgreens it totally worth it! it takes like 20 mins to filup you can shop in the mean time. and best part is you can use your register rewards to pay for it 🙂 I do it all the time! 🙂 I never buy ink again

  3. Katie

Can you use the coupon in the Ad and the coupon in the August booklet together on the same item?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      yes you can (:

      • Katie

wow…thanks. I didn’t realize that and I have been “couponing” for about 7 months now. Yippee!! 🙂

        • Megan

I wish my walgreens did that! I tried to use a manufacturer coupon with a july booklet coupon and they wouldn’t let me!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

What do I say when they say they can’t take two walgreens coupons for same product?

        • kathy

ok so if you are using the MFG and the July coupon book Q adn you are only bying that 1 item throw in a pencil or somethign cheap so that you have 2 items to 2 coupons and see if that will work…

  4. Dana

On the pampers deal, is it okay to use the coupon for free wipes with purchase of diaper if you’re already using a coupon to purchase the diapers? I thought coupons usually say only one coupon per item purchased or something like that. Thanks

    • kelley-nc

Dana, it really depends on the store. I can’t ‘stack’ coupons at my Walgreens 🙁

    • laura

I have done a similar transaction before at walgreens, and yes you should be able to use both. The BOGO FREE coupon is applied to the cost of the wipes, and the other coupon is applied to the diapers, so you are still only using one coupon per item.

    • Lisa

      Thanks!!!!

  5. Lpmousse

Thanks so much Collin. I often copy and paste your Wags deals into the notes section of my phone, and then shop the sales with that in hand. You are amazing! Just think of how much money we are all saving through these great deals! I’m making up backpacks for refugee kids, and will include the school supplies in those, give the contact lens cleanser to someone else, and keep the rest for myself!

    • Amanda

That is such a great idea! We have refugees where I live and I’ve been trying to find ways to get involved. Thanks for the idea!

  6. Ashly

Actually, if you bothered to READ, it is shortened, and you click the link to see the rest of the post. It’s done to cut down on scrolling. No reason to call names, especially when you obviously are in the wrong.

  7. Amanda

For the Pampers deal…is that $25 spent BEFORE coupons?

    • vmat

      yes

  8. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How could you be so rude to Collin, after all she does to help us score great deals???
You should do your homework before mouthing off!!!

  9. Collin

I have removed the comment. I’m trying to keep things as POSITIVE as possible on my site. 🙂 I hope you all understand. Thanks!

    • Tiffany Bray

of course we understand and we appreciate it. it would just make me mad anyway! thanks for all you do. ur the best!!

    • Kira G

It’s to bad when someone gets their panties in a bunch over silly things! IT’S COUPONS PEOPLE, SETTLE!!!! 😉

      • Holly

LOL at the ” IT’S COUPONS PEOPLE, SETTLE!!!! ” comment. You and I both know that some people take this mess sooooooo seriously. I am a pretty hard core couponer, and tend to chase a couple of deals a week minimum but it is all in fun. I have been at the store when a binder toting fiend is giving the cashier the what for, oh lordy it is $0.50!! If you need it that freaking bad I will give it to you myself!

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

If you haven’t done the schick hydro mail in rbate yet then save it for next week for CVS
    Starting 8/8 at CVS:
    Schick Hydro 3 or Hydro 5 Cartridges 4ct. or razor 1ct. $8.97 Get $4 ECB Limit 1
    -$5 Schick Hydro 3 or 5 SS 8/8
    = pay $3.97, get $4 ECB
    submit $8.97 MIR
    $9 moneymaker 🙂

    • megan

Thanks Amy! I bought the razor when the MIR first came out, but accidentally threw out the receipt. I’ll wait until next week to get the deal…again!

    • Kathryn

I have just gotten my MIR for the Hydro back. People were wondering if you would get the price before or after coupons. It is the price before the coupon (7.99 on my receipt) hth

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

it says on rebate rebate for what u pd well i got it at target and the 5 q is clearly takin off so i hope they still give me the full price

        • Sara

Not sure if you’ll get the full price back if you used a Target coupon, I’ve noticed that Target coupons usually ring up the same way a sale price does, so if the item was $10 and you had a Target coupon for $4 off in the price column it shows up as $6 not $10. If the cashier has to ok the coupon in the register then the item shows the regular price with the coupon amount deducted at the bottom of the receipt. Hope that made sense. 🙂

      • Elizabeth

I got my rebate check last week (I think) and it was for the full price.

      • Veronica Francois

I got mine rebate last week also. Woo hoo

    • Tina

I got mine also, it was full price. One poster awhile ago claimed to have called the company and was told coupons would be deducted. I couldn’t figure out how in the world they could do that considering most people didn’t buy just that one item and didn’t use just one coupon. And if that is the case how can they not give the same to the people who did only buy one item and used only one coupon. Just saying….

    • Niki

I never get my Schick rebate. Last time I file was around March and the second time was around June or so. Never got any of those. i lost hope with them.

    • Rachel

THANKS a bunch for the heads up!!

  11. Tara

For the monthly deal on buy $20 or more on select Nestle products = $5 RR, does anyone know if Purina cat food is included? I have two kittens and was thinking this would be a great deal if it included kitten food too. I never understood where the monthly deals come from. Any help please?

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’ve used the ink cartridges refill service. It seems to work better if as soon as you use up a cartridge you take it right in for a refill.

For some reason the ink dries out on the “head” or elsewhere and it won’t pass their test.

I’ve had about 2-3 refill work for a black ink cartridge. I’m very picky about ruining a printer, but have had good luck in general with Walgreen refill.

I’ve had many more problems with color ink cartridges.

When my cartridge won’t work any more, I go to one of those ink refill places and buy a refilled one the first time around and then use Walgreens to continue filling my “new” from the ink recycler store.

Don’t let cartridges sit around, then they won’t refill. Also, I saw a post on Colin’s ink feature a few days ago about “cleaning” ink head with alcohol, but didn’t exactly understand what to clean. I think if we could get more details on this, it might perserve cartridges so they could be refilled.

    • Elektra

You are right about refilling them right away. Color cartridges are especially notorious for drying up quickly, might have to do with the size of each colors reservoir. I’ve been refilling mine for years. The cost on the bulk ink for black works out to around 40 cents a refill, color around 70 cents. It takes very little time (1-2 minutes). All that is involved is drawing ink into syringe and squeezing it into the cartridge. I do this until a small amount comes out and then suck a little back into the syringe. I have refilled my black cartridges dozens of times and rarely have problems. Color on the other hand after a few refills the printhead seems to go bad. I buy generics online for around $5 so it’s not too bad. Usually when I loose my color, I just print in black and white until I get around to getting another cartridge.
If the color cartridge dries out it is pretty much toast (my experience) unless you are willing to put in some time. I’ve tried various methods to unclog them with limited success. Everything from soaking the head over night, using a steamer on the head to taking the cartridge apart (which works but is a pain).
Those of you with nice printers that don’t want to risk problems, just go to yard sales or thrift stores. I pick up printers for $1-3. Makes for a cheap coupon printer or a MM if it has both cartridges and you can take them to Officemax 🙂
I only use HP printers as I find them easy to refill. Before buying one google “how to refill HP XX cartridge” putting your numbers in the XX. See if there are any special things that need to be done.

  13. Rochelle

My Wags does accept the in ad and booklet coupons together but can you tell me how should I count my coupons? Do they both act like store coupons and do not count toward my total coupon count? I am trying to use up rewards but don’t know how many fillers to use 🙂 Thanks!!

    • OiOi

Count every store, manufacturer and RR as a coupon:

If you are purchasing 3 items and you have 2 Walgreens coupons and 3 Manufacturer’s coupons and 3 Register Rewards ( for a total of 8 (2+3+3) coupons) you will need 5 more items (fillers). hth

      • Rochelle

By store you mean the coupons out of the Wags Aug booklet? What about the in-ad coupons? Do those count in the total? Thanks for the help!

        • OiOi

Count them each as one coupon (the IVC (August coupon booklet) coupons or the In-ad coupons) you will need 1 item per coupon no matter what kind of coupon it is.

          • Melissa R.

Not true. Walgreens ad coupons and IVC are considered ‘store coupons’ and do not count against your product to coupon ratio. Just need to make sure RRs & manf q’s are = to your product count.

          • Lisa

It depends. Last week at my usual store, the helpful clerk 😉 beat me to the Wags coupons. So when he scanned my manufacturer coupons, they would beep. I told him he needed to scan the MAN Q first, and he said it didn’t matter. I suggested we try it, the manager came over as well and said, yes, scan the Man Q first always. So, it kept me from needing fillers on a transaction with 2 items, 1 man Q each, and a Wags IVC coupon.

          • Amber

I am confused by your count. If you use the in-ad and Aug Q’s that would not count towards a MF Q item. Now with the scenario she had there was also a MF Q. So for the Listerine deal you would need fillers for each RR you wanted to use. If you did not want to use RR’s you would just use the 3 different Q’s she mentioned.

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

At my Walgreens ALL coupons & RR count towards your total of coupons and they will count your coupons and items in front of you and will tell you need more items if you have more coupons than items. If your Walgreens does not have this rule then consider yourself lucky.

          • Sara

Your mfg coupons (RR count as mfg coupon) cannot exceed your number of items purchased. Your walreens store coupons do not count in your coupon total. If you’re buying 3 items and have 3 mfg coupons plus a RR then you need a filler item because that’s 4 mfg coupons. Since walgreens allows 1 mfg + 1wags coupon on the same item, so for that same transaction you could purchase 3 items and have 3 mfg and 3 wags coupons, and have a filler item in order to pay with a RR.

  14. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Collin – I just wanted to point out that I’m not sure if we would be able to use the $2 coupon for Complete solution because it looks like it’s a coupon for Canada.

    • Jande

Good point, I am curious if it will work.

      • Collin

You guys are right. It is a Canadian coupon. 🙁 I have since removed it… sorry about that.

        • Tina

Ha ha, was wondering why it said money maker! Now I know the coupon was deleted!

          • Melanie

            Was wondering the same thing!

        • CouponMama

I was wondering about the MoneyMaker too. If it is no longer a MM (since there is no coupon), why is it still listed as such?? Is there another $2/1 coupon out there???

          • Jande

I have some $2/1 that I think came from a safeway booklet at some point. I already clipped them so I am not positive which one it came from but it was pretty recently.

  15. Mel

in-ad coupons do not count towards your coupon total

  16. Michelle

The Complete coupon is a Canadian coupon. I don’t think stores in the States will get reimbursed if we use it.

  17. Kelly

Hi, Just LOVE your site. Thank you for all your hard work to save us all money!!!

Just wanted to let you know today I had a GOOD purchase day at my regular Walgreen’s and a BAD “no purchase” day at a different Walgreens.

Just thought maybe if you time (funny I know) but could start a list of Walgreens that will take all the coupons without trouble and the ones that won’t to save all of us couponer’s time, money and less frustration. I would like to add my GOOD Walgreens to the list if you start one. It is the one at North Oak Trafficway and Barry Road, Kansas City MO 64155 location – I just love them there! The one at Antioch Road and Vivian – well just say I will not be back to that store.

    Thanks,
    Kelly

    • Collin

Kelly, What a small world!! My hubby and I were stationed in Kansas City, MO a couple years ago. He was on recruiting duty. Anyway, I lived in Gladstone, MO right by the Walgreens you’re talking about! I LOVED that Walgreens too… the cosmetics cashiers were awesome and very coupon friendly! 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I agree! I thought it would make a great iphone app – you could check in like on foursquare and see if they are coupon friendsly

    • Holly

LOL I would be scared if I shared which Wag’s that I love in Memphis I would have trouble finding items. I go to a Walgreens in the HOOD that happens to be on my way home from work (also located in the hood unfortunately) and I never have any issues with coupons or with them being out of products. Sad to say but they don’t get many couponers so when there are great deals no one even notices.

  18. Kathryn

Does anyone print their coupons in black ink only? I’m wondering if it’s worth it for me to continue to buy colored ink? tia

    • kerstin

yes i do…. and never have problems…. hth

    • starfish5

I only have a lazer printer so my coupons are always in black/white. Never had a problem.

    • Mary

I have only ever printed in b/w and i’ve never had a problem yet. I even use the reverse side of paper that sometimes has stuff on it and no problems from that either!

    • Patti

same here….lazer printer, so black and white only. never had any trouble!

    • Bridget

I only print black and white. I also use my prior weeks documents (notes from hip2save ) and use the back. When started I used only color until m pinter went out a week later!

    • Stephanie

I sometimes print out my coupons in black and white depending on what computer I’m on. However, I was in line behind a lady who was using black and white coupons at Walgreens and they wouldn’t take it since it was in black and white and the manager claimed that they don’t get reimbursed for black and white coupons.

    • Kathryn

Thank you all so much! I have been couponing for months now, and have to buy in ink about once a month…..

    • Suzanne

several of our stores will ONLY accept color coupons.

  19. Gillian

In Collin’s scenario the Visine Eye Drops are a $1 moneymaker. Does that $1 count toward overage?

    • K

Is this the same visine that there is a rebate for?

  20. Brianna

Yes Gillian, as long as your store lets you stack an in-ad store Q with an IVC Q, you will receive that $1 in overage to go towards other items in your purchase. hth.

  21. Monica

My Listerine was $6.49. I also had 2 $2 manu coupons from my dentist. The in ad coupon would absolutely not go through, even alone, so may manager price modified it to $4.49 then took off the $2 manu c and the $2 booklet coupon, so I got 2 bottles for $0.49 each (huge bottles). I think Walgreens figured out that they put out 2 $2 coupons and cancelled the in ad one for the Total Care?

    • Melissa R.

No, I don’t think thats it. The employee said the ad coupons give you the sale price w/out needing a store card (like cvs or your grocery store). It was probably not entered in the system correctly.

  22. melissa

Walgreens marked down food items. You can get 3 packs of Act II popcorn for 50 cents. Use the 40 cents off coupon from the 6/20 SS and you’ll get a 3 pack of light butter popcorn for only 10 cents!!

  23. Melissa R.

Was going through my coupons last night to get my deals together and forgot I still had 2 $1/2 Sugar Free Jello IPs! So that makes for 4 free boxes with the 2/$1 ad coupon!!

  24. Moms Thrifty Deals

If you have a Safeway Coupon booklet from May there is a $2/1 Complete Multi-purpose Solution coupon you could use to turn it into a Money Maker 🙂

  25. Amber

Did anyone try the listerine deal? Did all 3 Q’s work?

  26. Tarheelgrandma

If you’re like me, I didn’t receive an Orville Redenbacher popcorn coupon in my Red Plum Q’s today, but I went online to the Redenbacher website and you can print out a Q for $1.25 good for one bag of M&M’s and one pack of Orville’s popcorn. Good substitute.

  27. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I bought the Special K Red Berries for $1/box (6 boxes, 2 Walgreens)! They have a peelie on the front of the box (only at one of the stores) $1/2. They are on sale 2/$5 – $2 RR -$1/2 q = $1/box 🙂 ((I buy these for my ex’s wife – only cereal she eats – so that we can keep on good terms))!! I know there is a coupon available on coupons.com or Red Plum – I printed those out also… this is a stock up price!

Question: I bought the markers/$3 for the rebate (which prints out of the RR machine). It says a copy of the receipt. Just wanna make sure I can send a ‘copy’. Thanks.

  28. Robyndeals

What is the coupon that makes the Multi Solution that is free after RR a $2.00 money Maker?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Robyndeals – Post #14 let us know that it was a Canadian coupon and can’t be used here.

    • Moms Thrifty Deals

Safeway stores put out coupon booklets. The one they had out in May that said $25 in savings has a $2/1 Complete coupon in it that is a mnf. coupon. It is no longer out so if you don’t already have it you won’t be a ble to find it but if you do you can use it – I did today. Hope this helps!

  29. cormackmn

I’m wondering if the checks for Similac, Enfamil, & other formulas are considered manufacture coupons or not. They must be endorse and they use them at the time of payment. I need to know for my coupon limit as I plan to use them with the Pampers deal.

    • Kristen

When I use them, it’s a form of payment, not a coupon…meaning you need to submit all other coupons first. I had to learn that the hard way, lol. At my store, once I’ve submitted the formula check, it considers the transaction complete. So, I would guess it doesn’t count toward your item total.

      • cormackmn

THanks! I’ve always wondered about that.

  30. K&J

Seems the Organix Shampoo or Conditioner is Buy 1 Get 1 Free, but the rebate was not found on that product. I did however find a “try me free” rebate on the Organic shampoo. Very close names, different brands. Anyone else see the same?

    • Julie

I didn’t see a rebate on the organix products either. Maybe this is regional? I was happy to receive a rebate for the renpure organic shampoo/conditioner this week. Hooray for free (or nearly free after tax).

  31. DanaB

I tried the pampers diaper and wipes deal today! I purchased 3 packs of diapers and 3 wipes using the 8/1 PG coupons (3) $1.50 off for diapers and (3) buy one pack diapers and get one wipes for free. I should not have been shopping with my kids, because I realized when I got home the cashier only gave my one wipes for free. What can I do because she took my coupons? My friend also went to the store and tried the same deal and had to fight with the manager to get it. Should I email or call corporate even though I have no proof I gave them the coupons…

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It’s always worth a try – good luck!

  32. Rochelle

I found a peelie for $1 off on the contact solution for a $1 money maker! WooHoo! Austin, TX

  33. Lili

Anyone knw if the deal is before coupon value of 25? I was thinkin of gettin 2 ea as my wags in Irving is selling the 72ct wipe for 3.29

    • kathy t

Yes, it has to be a subtotal of $25 before coupons. That means that you should buy a total of $25 pampers products (before taxes). Then you can use your coupons which will bring the total below $25 and you still get the RR.

      • Bethany H.

I went tonight & used my 15% off and bought 4 packs of diapers & 3 wipes. It still didn’t print out for me. I spent over 28.00 before coupons & the manager argued that the total had to be after coupons. I argued that no it NEVER works like that. That I use coupons all the time. But the machine just didn’t print. Any one else having problems with the pampers deal? (just a side note….I returned it all on the spot…..:) )

  34. Sarah

Incidentally, facebook says there will be a friends and family deal this week (should result in a printable coupon for 15% off). Be forewarned, the RR deals that require you to spend “X” amount in order to get the register reward does not work the same way coupons do. You’ll have to spend “x” amount after the discount is taken off.

  35. Melissa

I went to my Wags yesterday and there was a huge sign by the checkout that said they were limiting 4 coupons per transaction. I don’t understand why, am i missing something? I guess i wont be able to do the Pampers deal. I’m going to try a different Wags, that one always seems to have a stick up their butt 🙂

  36. Laura

At my store, some of the Complete boxes had a $1 peelie making it a money maker. Also, stock up on the Paper Mate highlighters – if there are any left – at $.19 each. They’re great for kids, to put on top of kid gifts, and the Operation Christmas Child boxes. FYI: My Walgreens started to limit to 8 per person (the ad did not have a limit) but still, for me, 8 packages of highlights for $1.60 was a bargain!

  37. Trung Nguyen

Does anybody know if the Listerine in-ad coupon and the Listerine August booklet coupon will work for the Listerine Whitening original and Listerine Vibrant? The coupons state it is for the Listerine Restoring only, however I was able to use them for the Vibrant in the past.

  38. Lili

Jus gt bk fm wags, tried the pampers deal but rr wasn’t out.

I bought 2 pk of pull up at 8.99 ea n 3 pk of 72ct wipes total to 27plus before tax then use for mq.

Then rr was not out, so lady who was the team leader say, I could not use mq else rr won’t be out. So I told her this is the first time I’m hearing that I could not use mq else no rr. Wat the… So I return all back to her

  39. Mila

I’m confused. How are we able to use 2 different Manufacturer coupons for the pampers: 3 $1.50/1
    and
3 buy one diaper get a wipe free

  40. Mila

Have you guys had luck with the Listerine deal? The $1/1 SS coupon says that it’s for Restoring Anticavity Listerine while the Walgreens in ad coupon says it’s for the Total Care, Advanced, or Natural Citrus.

  41. Mila

Sorry for all the questions. I’m new and just trying to understand things better.

Wondering about the Nestle scenario. If one does the Proglide Razor transaction first and gets the $5 RR, can they then turn around and use that in the next Nestle scenario with all the coupons? If so, wouldn’t that bring the total out of pocket for the Nestle bunch to $2.50? Can one use RR that quickly? Am I thinking this through correctly?

    • Mila

I would need a filler too, right?

  42. sneha

Hi Plz tell wht is rebate limit for crayola supertip markers ?

    • Crystal

I am looking for same thing. Rebate that printed did not say the limit… anyone know???

  43. Stephanie

I did the Pampers deal today, but unfortunately found out the $5 RR didn’t apply to the 72count wipes (the ones you get free with the coupon purchase of diapers this week). It had to be the big refill packages of wipes to apply towards the RR. (at least that’s what they told me) I used my 15% off coupon, so it was still a good deal. I’m just always disappointed when I don’t get RR’s I’m expecting. 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

the same thing happened to me tonight. is everyone else getting RR’s for the pampers deal that collin posted?

  44. Mila

So, I can use a Walgreens in ad coupon with a Walgreens coupon from the coupon book? I ask because I found a $5 coupon in each for the Johnson & Johnson first aid kit. I think I saw it discounted to $9.99 by the register the other day.

  45. Mila

    Me again 🙂

Just watched the Walgreens video again. She mentioned that if you have one in ad coupon, it can be applied to two of the same item? Is this right? I have an in ad coupon and a booklet coupon for a first aid kit. I do have an extra booklet coupon for the same item. Could I buy two kits and use one in ad coupon and two booklet coupons?
