Perfect. I was waiting for this to go on sale again. My younger sister recently got married and since they have 1 income, everyday items are a strain on their money situation. For Christmas, I am making her a gift basket with everyday items for her and her new husband! I am saving money on these items (and this is her FAVORITE dishsoap)!

got mine, i hardly ever have to pay for dish soap or underarm deodarent, or my nivea body wash…..thanks to you collin

I don’t shop at CVS vey much do you guys know if they will adjust the pice of the item up to the $1.00 coupon? Do I need to get a filler item to cover the cost of tax?

    • DonnaTN

Depends on your store. The computer will automatically adjust it down for you if it won’t let you accept overage but then I had a time where it took the full amount. Either way, it’s free.

    • Renee

I bought one today-nothing else- and paid .04 for tax. I’m not sure what she did cause our tax is 7%…….

      • Mitchell Wischmann

I had the exact same thing happen. She gave you the 3¢ overage and since tax was 7¢, 7 – 3 = 4¢!

Sometimes for me they adjust the coupon price down and other times they don’t..

Dawn is also donating $1.00 for every bottle to save wildlife. All you have to do is enter the number from the bottle at http://www.DawnSavesWildlife.com Their goal is $500,000 they are currently at $490,469. If you have any bottles currently at home you can enter those, too! You don’t need to have your register receipt. It is just the number that is stamped on the bottle that they want. The animals will love you for it!

    • Mollie

Thank you for the link. I just assumed that with your purchase the donation was automatic. I should have looked into it more, but I was able to add 6 codes from bottles I had stockpiled! Every little bit helps! Thanks again!

      • Chris M.

WTG, Mollie! Wish all donations would be this easy. Makes you feel good, doesn’t it?

    • Histengr

I had 11 bottles around the house. Way too many, I know, but I donate them and give them to friends and family who need them. So an $11 moneymaker for the animals b/c I got them for free from CVS at previous sales. 🙂 I always wait for them to go on sale for $.97. I love free. 🙂 One time, I even had a cashier push through (3) $1 coupons even though I didn’t have any fillers or anything, so I ended up paying less tax. I didn’t notice it ’til I got home b/c it was a last minute Saturday night run. I love it. Being able to give back makes my world a better place!!!

I got my dawn yesterday 🙂 And the BOGO Sobe water is still free this week-limit 6, so I got those too and the magic machine spit out a $4 off Huggies Jean diaper that were on sale for $8.99 so I was super excited this trip!

Darn, I just used this coupon last weekend at Kroger. It was $1.49 at Kroger and with coupon it was $0.49. I should have waited for a deal like this. 😉

    • Donna

You can hope they are out and get a raincheck so that you can wait for your next coupon. Although these go on sale alot..lol Just a suggestion though

I found the really large one on clearance at Target yesterday marked down from $3.49 to $1.77 and so you get get it for .77 cents.

Is the Home Made Simple coupon booklet free?

    • Sha

yes the booklet is free. it also resets from time to time and you can request it again. I’ve gotten 3 booklets over the last 3 months

      • L. H

hey were do you go to request it? I have one book that I got a couple months ago, but I have signed up for all sorts of free samples and stuff that I don’t know which ways is up

  10. DonnaTN

Went to the link and signed up for another booklet 4-6 weeks.

I am so excited. I went to CVS and scored 2 small cans of the Emerald nuts for 25 cents each. I got my Dawn detergent for FREE and the magic coupon machine printed $5 my next $15 purchase 🙂

  12. Nancy

Just requested my book. Thank you for posting the information.

Anytime I’ve tried to use a coupon that has a greater value than the item, the cashier always says its a no go. I don’t think I’ve tried CVS though (I wil this week). I was wondering what chain stores you’ve found that you can use such a coupon (whether they lower the value of the coupon or not). I know if can depend on the actual store — but was wondering as a starting point.

Also, in my area, most CVS’s are now converting to almost all self-checkout (maybe 4-5 self checkouts, and now not that easy to get a real person. I’ve done a few easy coupons with the self-checkout, wonder if those super douper couponers have used it.

    Thanks.

    • Mitchell Wischmann

It all depends on the cashier you get, unfortunately. 🙁

I tried the self-checkout once and I was buying Ivory Soap for $0.99. I had a $1/1 coupon that would make it FREE, but the self-checkout beeped and wouldn’t adjust it down. There was nobody there to help me, so I just paid for it and left.

My local Walmart has the larger size Dawn Hand Renewal for $1 — it was out of stock yesterday, though…

  15. joan v

I went to my local northern ca cvs and luckily they restocked the Dawn Renewal, I had 5 coupons so it was time to stock up. My concern is… for the first time the cashier told me she couldn’t accept my $1.00 off coupon when it was on sale for $0.97, she explained that the store would lose $0.03 for every bottle I “purchased”. I explained that I have used the coupon with no problems in the past (no beeps and no comments from other cashiers) so she accepted them but she told me this was the last time she would allow it. Has anyone had a this experience?

    • Christy Myers

She’s full of crap. They don’t lose any money, if anything they are reimbursed the $1.00 so they make a slight profit from them. Next time print off their coupon policy. It states that they adjust it.
