Make sure you call the restaurant before printing your certificate to see if they accept it. I ordered 4 gift certificates to the same place and when we went, they wouldn’t accept them. After a week of trying, I finally got in touch with Restaurant.com’s customer service who credited my account (they don’t refund your money – exchange only policy) so I was able to find a different place that accepted them. After all that, I have used these certificates twice now and got a ton of food for about $20.

Just wanted to let you know about the experience I had with Restaurant.com. I purchased gift certificates to a local restaurant only to visit the restaurant and find out they were no longer accepting the certificates. Thinking I was out of luck, I called Restaurants.com to tell them about my experience and they immediately offered to exchange all my unused certificates for any other restaurant on their list. What a pleasant surprise!

That’s really good to know! Now, I know to give the restaurant a call before going there!

Don’t forget to go through Ebates first… They give you 15% cash back on your purchases with restaurant.com. I know it’s only pennies – but it WILL add up. My husband and I are taking a trip in a month for our anniversary – we’re having to go on the cheap and this is really going to help out!

Would this be possible to give as a gift? Or is like an account you use? I’ve never used Restaurant.com and thought it sounded like a good gift idea. I did check out the previous post and just wondered if anyone else has done that. thank you for your help!!

Use Shop At Home…they are giving 25% cash back!

    • Donna

What is the difference between Shop At Home and Ebates?

      • Crystal

Nothing, same kinda of site…both give you cash back. Just some days one site offers more cash back than the other.

Is it an actual gift card they send you or is something you just print out? Thanks!

Its a gift certificate you print – it is good for a portion of your bill not all. For example – some have a min purchase of $35 or $50 on a $25 gift certificate – just depends on the resteraunt.

So, if it is a min purchase of $50 – then you will have to buy $50 worth of food and drinks(some exclusions apply – like alcohol) and then use the GC to pay $25 and then you pay the remaining amount which will be $25 or more. It depends on what your final total is.
Plus, if you have a server then you pay tip on the pre-GC bill.

Keep in mind – youshould always read the terms of that resteraunts GC policy before requesting it. I went to a place with my kids and then realized that kids meals were not included in the discount. So, we had to pay for them on top of the $35 bill. That place was min of $35 on a $25 GC. So, we had to buy $35 worth of food and drinks (for my hubby and myself)- then my kids’ meals were added to the above $35 total. So, our total was about $42 minus the $25.

It’s something you print out. Note that all of these certificates have stipulations. You’re not spending $2 on a $25 gift certificate, you’re spending $2 on a coupon that is good for $25 off when you spend X dollars (e.g. many of them are $25 off a $50 purchase). It’s something you can give as a gift, but unless you give it to a fellow couponer, the recipient might find it a bit tasteless.

I’m not trying to be negative about it, it’s great if you were planning on spending the money at that restaurant anyway. I just want to warn you to not buy it thinking you’re going to get a $25 meal for $2.

I am actually glad you said all that you did. I actually thought it was like spending $2 dollars and getting a $25 dollar meal. Now do you know ahead of time if the $25 dollar is for if you spend $50 dollars or more before you pay for it? I was going to get the deal for me and my husband but now that you said that, me and him really don’t ever go to a restaurant and spend past $50 but I guess if you get $25 dollars off, means your basically spending $25 dollars plus the $2 for the coupon isn’t a bad deal.

      • Krystal

Yep, you got it right. Took awhile to respond, sorry. The restaurants set the standard for the value of food that has to be purchased before you get the discount off. For example, my boyfriend and I love a restaurant that is spend $40, get $25 off. With tax and tip, we can spend about $23 for $40 of food and wine. Not all will let you use it on alcohol though.

  8. Sophie

sure you can use as a gift. all you do is print out the certificate and anyone can use it.

  9. Sam

I just bought three (3) of their $100 gift cards for only $24!!!!

cool thing – I bought that dinner of the month club package for like $2 or was it $18 (?? dont remember) a year ago – in september and totally forgot about using it. I logged on 2 days ago and was fresked out because it had passed 12 months – I noticed I did have the $50 gift certificate there that you got extra for getting the package.
Well, GOOD NEWS! I never activated it – so I went ahead and did so and it gave me my first $25 gift certificate for this month and I stillhave the next 11 months left! THis place is awesome that they have you activate it first!

To bad the closest restaurants are more than an hour away and I haven’t heard of any of them. 🙁

When I went to checkout it offered me a $50 restaurant.com certificate for for $20 but with the code it was only $4! It may be a dumb question but that means I can buy more certificates with that right?
