Just called and the lady told me I needed to get a flyer from my dr.’s office and then call back?…not sure why, but that’s what she said. I’m already signed up for their Beginnings Program and they have all my info as I’m due in March, but have not gotten anything in the mail thus far. Guess I’ll ask the dr. the next time I’m in…

    • Lauren M

i hung up after reading this….as my wait time was 9 minutes away…lol…..i already have a little one so i’m not heading to the doctor any time soon…

was anyone successful without a flyer?

      • MrsBushey

I didn’t have the flyer when I called, I just said I did. They asked me what was written in the red ribbon which I got from the images online. I’m already signed up for Enfamil online as I’m due in April so they already had all my information. I received it a few days ago just as they said.

  2. Anon

Yep! You need that flier. Thye ask you questions about it.

    • chaney

So do you just ask your dr. for this Enfamil flyer and he’ll know what on earth you’re talking about???

    • Trisha

Is there a special code on the flyer or do they just ask questions about the flyer in general?

      • Anon

        It’s particular to the flier.

  3. J

I tried this a few weeks ago……apparently you have to have the flyer/card thing from your doctor. After I tried to get these with a big fat fail, I searched around and found it that someone had scanned on The Bump website. Im in a rush otherwise Id try to find the link:)

Also the guy I talked to said these would expire in the next few months and do me (due in July) any good. Good luck and hope others have better luck than I did!!!

    • Alea

You can usually get a bunch of these for free to take home with you from the hospital. Both my sons we brought home a whole bunch of nursette bottles with us – they were born at two different hospitals and each time before we were discharged they asked if we wanted to take home any extra bottles, diapers or wipes.

      • chaney

A lot of people don’t realize that you can always ask your Peds office for samples as well. They just have them sitting there and are happy to give them out before they expire or they have to throw them away. So, after we have a baby, I ask everytime I go in for samples until 12 mths…saves us a few bucks anyways!

        • Shelly

I work in a daycare and one of the Doctors in town brings her kids to us. The other day she brought in a large sack full of cans of formula that she was going to throw out and she thought we could either use them or give them away. She’s not a pediatrician either, just a family doctor so you never know-go ahead and ask!

      • J

I breastfed my son so they never offered bottles……I’d love some just on hand in case with this next kiddo, ya know!? I’ll definitely ask when we leave the hospital:)

      • SenoraE

My hospital said NO MORE SAMPLES because they are trying to increase breastfeeding. Doc’s office said the same thing! While I plan to nurse for a year, I like to have samples for emergencies!

        • Shelly

When I had my daughter I breastfed, but the hospital MADE us suppliment with formula while we were there. They sent us home with tons of those little bottles, but we gave them to someone else.

        • Ariel

They said the same thing to me…. I was trying to breastfeed with no success and when i left the hospital with a starving newborn that wouldn’t latch they wouldn’t send me home with any.

      • MommySpendsLess

Mine didn’t offer the diapers/wipes, although I’m sure they ended up throwing away the rest of the jumbo pack (since it was opened and thus not ‘sterile’ anymore) that we didn’t think to grab out of the bottom of the bassinet (I blame pain medication and sleep deprivation 🙂 ).

We used these premade bottles in the hospital and took as many home as they’d give us (they did offer us an Enfamil diaper bag and formula samples) and I was so sad when they were gone (but not sad enough to pay the outrageous price for them at the store). It was super convenient to use them during the night when I was trying to make a bottle without waking up DH sleeping on the other side of the bed.

Long story short, it never hurts to ask for freebies!

    • MrsBushey

Someone else said they were told they would expire in 90 days, but my box (and a few others in my DDC) have Sept 11 as the expiration date. I think they just want it to go to people who are due soon.

  4. Lauren M

ok the wait time is now 24 minutes….geez….think i’ll call later today

  5. Meg

I got the flier, I’m calling now to see what they ask.

  6. varibean

I was going to donate these to our women’s shelter but the woman that answered the phone said the mothers the chapter serves need to pick up a flyer at their doctor’s office. While that seems like a logical request, often enough, the mothers the chapter serves are extremely young and the only doctor they’ve seen was in the emergency room when they went into labor.

  7. Behki

Just an idea for anyone who doesnt want or need formula: you can request it and give it to your local pregnancy center 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I called my local pregnancy center because I bf all my kids and always received samples, they told me they weren’t allowed to accept/give out formula because they are supposed to promote bfing… I’m all for bfing (never given any of my kids formula), but I know some moms need to use formula for one reason or another, and its too bad the pc’s around here can’t help them with that (they did tell me to see if the food banks would take them, so I just put it in the pile at the monthly food drive at my Church when I have any).

      • Behki

thats a great idea too! our crisis pregnancy center here accepts formula and even buys it from you if their shelves are empty…i would never accept $ but they do offer. Great point though that there is always somewhere that can use it if you look hard enough 🙂

  8. Amy L.

I received the flyer from my pediatrician back in December. Yes, there is a code on the flyer you will need. I would have shared this weeks ago, but because of the specific code I didn’t think that everyone could benefit. Enfamil actually ended up sending me 48 nursette bottles! I was so excited because I do have a newborn at home.

  9. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Do you get the flier from your Ob dr or Ped dr? Thanks

    • chaney

When I called the lady said my OB…I specifically asked and that’s what she said.

    • Amy L.

      From Pediatrician.

  10. Cat31302

Gonna have to pass on this one. I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old and don’t plan on having ANYMORE kids. I know it would be great to donate this stuff, but I don’t even want to start ooogling over tiny baby things again. 😛

  11. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

“we have system problems & cannot process your call. Please call back later!!!” All us Hip2Savers are blocking up the phone lines again 🙂

  12. Meg

Just got done.. she didn’t ask me anything for the flier. She was GREAT! She asked when I was due and I told her July so she insisted on sending me a free CAN of powder and coupons since the nursettes will more than likely expire before I deliver. I <3 Enfamil!!!

  13. julie

thank god I know that I had free milk for my babies….(yes my breasts)

  14. stephanie

I think only people who actually have the flyer should call in. I know it’s nice getting free stuff, however Enfamil probably put out a certain number of flyers and that’s how much formula they planned on giving away. Now, if you have people who don’t have the flyer getting some, this means they will either run out before the people with an actual flyer call in or they will end up giving wayyyy more out then thay are suppose to. Just a thought 😉

    • Niki

I agree. I have a son who could benefit from this but since I didn’t receive the flyer, I am passing.

    • MrsBushey

I’m sure they figure that people are going to share the flyer. Like my friend just got one from her OB appointment this week and called to let me know she had it for me so I could get it as well. But I had already called and gotten it so she is going to pass it on to another friend of ours that is pregnant. She said her doctors office had stacks of the flyers. Enfamil is a huge company and every case of formula they give away is a nice write off for them, I’m sure they don’t mind handing it out left and right.

    • Briar Rose

I totally agree, unless you recieve this flyer you should not try calling. I have a 5 month old who uses Enfamil and this would be a huge money saver but I did not recieve any sort of flyer so I am not going to call about it. I do not think it is fair.

  15. Sarah

Also, when you deliver a baby your breasts will make milk for free as long as you regularly let your child do what comes naturally.

    • MJ

Some women can’t nurse. It doesn’t come naturally for all of us.

      • Heather

Actually, only 5% of women can’t nurse. Many are told they can’t or that their body isn’t making enough when in actuality the doctors are failing them. When you give even one bottle in the hospital, it can damage a breastfeeding relationship.
95% of women are indeed able to nurse.

        • Ariel

i tried for two months to nurse, sometimes it just does not work no matter how hard you try!

          • Dawn (CoupoNewbie)

I’m right there with you, Ariel. Here I had a starving child and couldn’t make enough milk for him. And before anyone says “well you didn’t try hard enough,” I sure did try! I tried so much I was a total wreck! I really hate that everyone likes to come around and assume that just because they breast fed, it’s easy and comes naturally and will work for everyone else. I got so frustrated that I tried to exclusively pump around the 2 month mark just to see how much I got. I got 5 ounces. 5 OUNCES!!!! Before you say that my child can get more out of my breast than a pump can, really think about that one. Do you honestly think he can get 20+ more ounces out of me than a pump can? I reeked of maple syrup. I drank so much there was a worn pathway to the bathroom. Regalin wasn’t on the $4 medicine list yet (there wasn’t one yet) and I didn’t have enough money to pay for it. Hot compresses, hanging them to help letdown, nursing on demand, keeping him on for 55 minutes with 5 minute breaks before he started crying again… it wears down a person. Oh, and I got 44DD’s too, so it certainly wasn’t breast size.

Please think before you post random statistics. There are lots of people out there like me that try and try and try but it doesn’t work. To assume that everyone is just lazy is equally lazy on the assumer’s part.

        • babyrn

I was also unsuccessful with breastfeeding and I really tried! I pumped, went to a LC, everything. Even the LC was frustrated…so sometimes it really does not work.

          • Dawn (CoupoNewbie)

The LC I contacted said my priorities were out of order since my son wanted to nursse for 55 minutes at a time with a 5 minute break. I wanted a little longer break so I could do things like eat, pee, or do a load of laundry. She suggested I pee during one break, put a chicken on the next break, take the chicken out of the oven the next break, eat the following break, put a load of laundry in the next break, etc. Yeah, last time I checked it took 5 minutes to prepare a chicken for the oven and 5 minutes to eat said chicken. Just not practical advise. That’s when I realized I was pushing myself to no avail. My son still got breast milk overnight till 5 months old when he weaned himself and he’s now a healthy, strong 4 year old so I don’t regret my decision one bit! Anyone who tries to make me can jump in a lake!

          • Kim

I agree. With my first I was at my wits end, but my body DID NOT produce enough milk! I even rented one of those fancy pumps from the hospital, but I couldn’t make enough milk. I continued to nurse what I could for a year and supplement with formula. Sometimes that’s the best you can do. Luckily with my second, my body seemed to catch on and I didn’t need to supplement. Hopefully with #3 (due in April) we’ll have more success with the breast feeding.

    • Anonymous

When my child was born, I had to use formula because of my medications. So some of moms just can’t use breast milk although really want to do breast feeding. I don’t offended to anyone, just my thought…

    • Mary

So as a lactivist myself, I commend your desire to encourage others to breastfeed. But I must let you know that in a money saving blog, a post like this just doesn’t belong. Let’s keep the lactivism on Kellymom or LLL. Posting it here just comes across as judgemental. And I am sure you understand that there are many, many barriers to breastfeeding anyway…wouldn’t you rather the formula companies give away stuff for free so they are less profitable? Camel cigarettes thought I was a smoker for years because I WANTED them wasting $ sending me coupons and ads. I am planning on doing this and donating it.

      • Heather

Formula companies giving free samples to women who haven’t even delivered yet IS one of the barriers to breastfeeding.

        • Mary

Aaaand, I will say it again. This is not the appropriate forum for discussing something like this. It annoys even me as a lactivist, I can only imagine how people who use formula feel.

          • MommySpendsLess

            🙂

    • brittney

Sorry I would have loved to breastfeed but my son was born with a Severe Heart Defect and had to have open heart surgery so they wouldn’t Let me brestfeed because they had to monitor how much he ate. So although some would love to they can’t

  16. shannon

Anyone getting through today (1-14)? It was giving me the ‘system problems’ message for the first few tries, now it either goes straight to a busy signal or rings a few times then gives me the busy signal. Also, has anyone tried to get them for an over 3 month child…do they reject you? Also, will they bust you if you are already signed up for Enfamil with said infant over 3 months and then say you are due soon (when you really couldn’t be yet?)

Here’s the best ad scan (you can open up each in a separate tab, so they are full view):

  17. janet

this is all they ask u for:
    LA3960 NEW 11/10 2010

    • Jen

      Thank you! 🙂

  18. Leyla

Trying to get this for a friend that is having her c section TODAY! Was listening to hold music for 14 minutes, then got a busy signal. 🙁 O well gonna try again in a bit! Thanks!

  19. Liz

Has anyone gotten through today? I keep getting “call again later”.
I am heading over to the Old Navy sale now, I guess I will try again when the kiddos are napping!

Thanks Collin for the heads up!

  20. megan

i just got through about 6 min ago. i had to call a few times, kept getting the busy signal. they didn’t ask me anything at all about the flyer. it was a really easy process, and it should be here in 5-7 days.

  21. janet

I just sat on hold for 10 mins… but got thru!!! They did not need any info from me…. just my name, address, email and due date!
Keep trying and redial, redial, redial…. it works!
allow 5-7 days for delivery is what she said!

  22. Jennifer

I just called & waited about 10 minutes. She asked if I had the flyer or found the info online. I told her online & she asked for the code. I gave her LA3960 & it should take 5-7 business days.

  23. Linda Dempsey

I can’t get through. I’ve been calling for 10 minutes now and keep getting a busy signal every time.

  24. Quanniece

I totally agree that this freebie should be saved for people who actually has the flyer in their possession and not have obtained the code from online. By doing this we only mess things up for ourselves in the future for more freebies. Companies are getting hip to whats happening on these forums. Especially with TV shows letting everybody know whats going on-more and more companies are going to stop or shorten freebie supplies and stores are going to get more strict with coupon rules-Just a thought!

  25. Bridgette

I just called and she wouldnt give me the formula because my twins are 8 months old and they want to give it to newborns? I told her I use the small nursette bottles still but she said she would send me a sample of the current formula I am using, Enfamil Premium, because she didnt want to switch the babies? It doesnt matter because it is the same that I am using, Oh well. I guess you would have to be deceitful to get this if you dont have “newborns”.

    • Salli

Enfamil Premium Infant is not the same as Enfamil Premium Newborn, which is recommended for babies up to 3 months. If your kids aren’t in that age range, there is probably no need to be deceitful to get it for them since it’s not formulated for them anyway.

  26. Emily

Would anyone please be able to tell me what the number to call is without the letters? My phone has a keyboard on it so the letters do not correspond with the correct number key. Thanks!

    • M

      1-800-222-9123

  27. Emily

    Thank you!

  28. Caryn

It keeps being busy 🙁 I could really use this for my daughter

  29. Lauren

I keep trying and the number is busy and then just hangs up… poo! 🙁

  30. Emily

Same here, it’s busy. I sent in a ‘contact us’ form on their website asking if there was some other way to do this since the number wasn’t working. We’ll see if I get a response. =)

  31. Tracy

I don’t think you should request the sample unless you have a baby or one on the way. This way it gives everybody who has a baby will have a chance to score this great freebie when they really need it. I know its always nice to donate but lets give mom’s who can really use it a chance to score such great freebie.

    • Robyn

I totally agree! People spreading codes and information meant for only a certain number of people are just going to ruin future freebies for everyone. I know some people have good intentions of donating them but if they get too slammed many more people who could use them aren’t going to receive them.

  32. Gail

I called around 7:45 am…. got the automated services which asked me to record my name, address, due date, and hospital……. the service also asked me to answer a few more questions and then the service confirmed that i was enrolled and didn’t ask for a flyer code and told me that i should recieve items in the mail!!!! Thanks Hip2Save….

  33. Dee

This is a great offer, but I think it should be redeemed by expectant mothers, or mothers of newborns 0-3 months. It just seems only right. I am going to let my sister know, since she is due March 9th 🙂

  34. SEH

I got through this morning. They asked about the front of the flyer and what it said and since I was already signed up for their emails, they knew my due date and other info, just said it would ship today!

  35. mrsborah09

This is a good offer, but after sitting on the phone for 10 minutes I gave up. With a 2 year old and an 8 week old they won’t let me stay on the phone for long. But if you sign up online for the new beginning programs they have “coupons” that you can print for a free formula sample from your doctor, and for expectant mothers they have stuff for in the hospial, which is what I got. Even if you plan on breastfeeding it comes with a can of the newborn formula, which I have kept just in case something happens and my husband needs to fix a bottle. They also send lots of good coupons.

  36. Rhonda

Okay ladies here’s a question alittle off topic, but I was wondering when it comes to Rite Aid UP Rewards, is there a limit on how many times you can get one? Not that I am one to clear the shelves, but I have been couponing for about a year now and I assume that UP Rewards are like CVS’s ECB’s. Occasionally there is something that is a favorite of someone in my family of 7 and was just wondering if I could do it more than once.

    • Coupon_Ninja

Initially when the program started, the flyer said limit 1 per household on practically everything, but now it doesn’t say anything, so I asked. The cashier said she thought it was as many as you buy, so I got 6 boxes of zicam and got 6 +ups. Also, on a “Buy $___ of ____ products, receive $__” you will get the reward based on how much you spent. Only thing I’m not sure about is if you buy, say, $14 of a $15 reward goal, if it keeps track and will give you the reward on your next transaction like CVS. You might have better luck posting on a Rite Aid topic if you haven’t already. Hope this helps!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It will say on the ad if there is a limit if it doesn’t say anything there is no limit. I hope this answers your question. 🙂

    • Rhonda

      Thank you so much!!!

  37. MrsBushey

I called for this a week ago and the only question they asked me was what was written in the red ribbon. Which you can see from the pictures here: https://community.babycenter.com/post/a25812331/free_enfamil

Also someone from my DDC said that they told her they are only good for 90 days so your due date has to be within 90 days. My due date isn’t until April 27th and I just told them it was April 1st and had no problems. Also the expiration date on the box says Sept 11 so I’m not sure why they told her 90 days.

  38. Mitch

    Now I am crying.
We could not breast feed as we are 2 guys, so the hospital gave us Enfamil with Lipil 7 3/4 years ago.
I of course asked for more samples and they were pushing breast feeding so they gave me a case like this.
    I loved the convenience.
    This takes me back!
Thanks for the sweet memories, it is just a reminder that we got to adopt at birth which is an extra blessing on top of all the other blessings!
    thanks!
    http://www.gaynycdad.com

  39. marcia

Sounds like they are just trying to get their old inventory out of their hands and into someone’s hands that might be able to use it so I’m not sure why they would be picky about who they give it to. That said, I agree that you should only call if you got the flyer. I also think it’s sad they are marketing to unborn children.

    • B

You have no idea what you are talking about. This is a brand new formula.

  40. Anastasia

Just got off the phone. No flyer required. No wait time either…
I breastfeed and bottlefeed. I love that I can do both. I cant believe the arguements that go on this blog. You shouldnt tell someone to breastfeed or bottlefeed. It is her choice. I’m sure she would love to breastfeed. She has her reasons on not doing it.
I follow a number of these saving websites and if its free they always say to take it so that you can donate it. Although, I do intend to use the formula. I am expecting, and did not recieve a flyer from my doc.

  41. Julie

It took me about 25 – 30 calls before I finally got through. I am grateful for sites like this that let us know about these kinds of offers – there was no sign or flyer when I was last at the pediatrician’s office (2 weeks ago) and with twins coming in the next 5 weeks or so it is nice to be able to get some formula for free. I know that some people are saying that it isn’t fair for us to take this offer if we don’t have a flyer and other people are saying that breast milk is free. I wish my body produced enough breast milk, but it doesn’t produce enough for 1 baby and I am now having 2. And just because my doctor’s office didn’t have these flyers, why should I have to miss out on this opportunity?

  42. Kate Sweitzer

I just called and the lady asked me all sorts of questions about the flyer. Not code specific questions, just anything she could think of, like the bullets that are on the back of the flyer.
I was also reading on other blogs that people were trying to call twice and request another pack through family member’s addresses. I wish some just stopped being greedy. The supplies are limited and other’s might miss out because of some people not knowing their limits. It’s a blessing to a lot of mom’s to get FREE baby items, especially formula as expensive as it is.

  43. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

is the no is 1800 2229 123 ,because its still giving me a busy signal for the past 10 min !! thank you

  44. marcy

Formula companies give away formula to try to create more formula users. This is not saving money when any formula given to an infant sabatages breasfeeding efforts, thus making you relient on forumula. I know this is not the place to discuss formula vs. breastfeeding, just beware that this “freebie” can actually end up costing people a lot of money in the long run. It is all a marketing ploy by formula companies.

    • celticmommie

you’re right – this ISN’T the place to discuss formula vs. breastfeeding. either get the sample or don’t. unless you have info regarding the sample, keep your opinions to yourself.

    • B

How many times can you post this SAME comment…jeez.
