they will also cut it up for free if you ask.

    • Meganโ™ฅ

OK – stupid question alert!!! lol

Is it raw or cooked? They cut up the raw chicken?

      • Katy

I would imagine it’s raw. Cooked chickens are generally sold at a set price, not by the pound. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • wendy

If you ask the butcher, he will cut it into either 6 or 8 pieces and rewrap for you for free.

        • Nikki

if they repackage it for you after it it cut up, how do they price it out?

          • aysha

they price first then cut then put a new sticker on it.

Thanks for posting! I love to get to Whole foods and stock up on Organic meats when I can. I will ask them to cut it up as well.

  3. Sue M.

There’s no Whole Foods where I live. I bookmarked a few of the recipes though. Thanks!

  4. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

bummer, my daughter is down town today, right by there.

I wish I had time to drive the million miles into the city to shop at Whole Foods, darn! Their meats are awesome too, I highly recommend them if you have one nearby! They also have lots of expensive but oh so yummy gluten free foods if you are looking ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Randi

thanks! I planned on making a whole chicken this weekend and I prefer to get natural/organic meats!! yeah!

  7. relovitz

Lucky enough to have a Whole Foods nearby. Will check it out tomorrow. Thanks.

  8. Tara

  9. Mitch

    • momoftwinboys

what i meant to say.. was how many pounds are these usually sized by? lol
      am i making sense? LOL

      • ANDREA

Organic chicken is usually 6.99 lb or more. I so wish we had one closer than 100 miles away ๐Ÿ™

      • Leah

Usually I see whole chickens for around 4-6 lbs each.

    • Carla

The guy told me today they are normally $3.99/lb

  11. Kelly

check their website for coupons on products too – just search coupons. You can stack with manu. coupons. I work there so I also get 20% on top of all that so I always stock up with sales like these.

    • Heather

Can’t stack coupons at my Whole Foods……. ๐Ÿ™

      • Mae

I second that…And it sucks royally to the high heavens…Maybe us hip2savers [with Collin’s help, just maybe] could possibly request a Whole Foods “nation-wide” coupon policy ?

  12. Amber

I usually see the organic chickens around 2-3lbs at the most.

    • ANDREA

We have very little Organic meat around me. It is so sad and so expensive. 7.99 lb for hamburger and that is when they have it.

  13. Julia

gotta love a sale on organic foods!

  14. linda morrison

going to get many of these tomorrow, organic on sale gotta love it!!!!

  15. Lisa

For those that cannot find organic meat around them, I urge you to please visit your local farmer’s market. That is how we found the farm where we buy all of our meat now. Their prices beat the organic meat in the grocery store and it’s local, all of the animals are grass-fed, sustainably produced, etc. I like having the peace of mind when I feed my family meat that none of us are going to get sick. Plus, the taste is 100% better IMHO.

I hate Whole Foods, they’re so snobby there. But for $1.69 a pound for organic chicken, I’ll suck it up and go. If anyone gives me ‘tude though, I’m off to Trader Joe’s. ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Danielle

I just bought 7 chickens at Whole Foods. They were on average 5.5 lbs each.

  18. denise

Funny, I thought it would me a mad house and there would be nothing left when I got there. Instead, I was the only one and they had a ton in stock. Didn’t even see anyone else buying any. Had to stop at 8 chickens though due to lack of freezer space.

  19. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just got back from WF, it was only $1.29/lb! We usually buy organic chicken from Costco for $2.29, so this is a stock up price for sure, we bought 8! Yeah!

  20. Kris

Wow, I got to my local store a little after 5 pm today and they were completely wiped out. Luckily, I got a rain check for 10 whole chickens. I have up to 30 day to use it. I was glad to get it because I have no room in my freezer as it is.

    • Dinahmite

Kris I wish I went to your Wholefoods. I too went after 5pm (from work) at my local one and they were totally sold out. I then called today after seeing your post of getting a rain check, then they told me that “Wholefoods” don’t give out rain checks:( Next time, I’ll have to go during my lunch break, LOL! Make sure your raincheck shows the sale price of the chicken or you might end up paying full price at check out.
