HOT! Getting Toasty! Lukewarm Starting To Melt Ice Ice Baby

I love embracing each day with all that I’ve got. I love seeing the good in everything and everyone. I am an eternal optimist.

It’s so easy to get caught up in life. Sometimes it’s good to slow down and maybe even take a step back. I know from experience that couponing can become all too consuming at times and even start to take over way too much precious time. I touched on this in my video yesterday. Just like any hobby, you have to learn to balance it with everything else going on in your life.

Another part of couponing that takes up ones time is focusing on others. You see, when you have a skill (yep – couponing is a skill), it’s easy to critique others… even get frustrated and devote your time to teach them “right”. Well, the problem is that the person (who you are teaching “right”) may not think they’re doing anything wrong. And so then, of course, the conversation can turn into an argument – which, in my opinion, means you are wasting your precious time.

YOU can control what YOU do, how YOU feel, and if YOU want each day to be a great one!

If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.
~Mary Engelbreit

To be upset over what you don’t have is to waste what you do have.

A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.

Collin, Thank you so much for this post. When I started couponing, I had just been laid off from my job. I started couponing to save money and I got really consumed with collecting coupons, seeking out deals and stockpiling my finds. It’s been about a year since I started couponing and as of lately, I HAVE been feeling unbalanced and at times as if I’m taking time from my family. (They are the most important thing in my life, and afterall that was the reason to even begin the couponing!) I’ve taken a step back, and have come to the conclusion that I DON’T HAVE TO get every deal out there. There will always be another sometime down the road. I enjoyed reading your perspective on this subject, as it has also been on my mind. I love your website and all of the valuable information you share with us all. Thank You.

Thank you sooo much for this post. There are days that I only check your site and there are days that I can spend more time on couponing. We have to find a balance and not let it consume our lives. ( I do think I have a larger stock pile than you, but that’s what works for us.)

    Keep smiling and thanks again!!

I was telling this to my hubby last night – we are so stressed over his family (his mom and brothers)and the pressure they put on us all the tim and they are so iggnorant and high almighty they think we’ve got the problem all the time and it is never their fault for judging and critizing us and everyone they incounter – Problem is: we have done everything to make our lives with them around better and nothing works – they always find a way to make a move against us and make themselves look all innocent.

We tried moving out of state away from them and boy was it a relief untl the recession and his job brought him back here as we went homeless due to him getting laid off. We can’t run away with out him losing a great job and our financial securities and such we have regained in the last 2 years – so, we are at wits end and if we ask them to leave us alone – they tell him I am making him think that way and blame me for everything, even though I am the only reason he has been speaking to them in the last 4 years. But, truth is – we have 3 small kids and very little family members – (heck, we both don’t know what having grandparents are like, we really didn’t know ours) – and in the end, we know they are the only family either of us has that can help us in the event of an emergency with our children. So, for the kids’ sake – we stay. But, I have told my hubby last night – we definatly need to stop allowing them to have so much control over us and find our happiness again. Unfortunatly, we do not have a whole lot of support as most everyone we know (even the ladies in the mom group I am in) all have issues of their own and little time to help others.

Thanks for the positive post – it does help me feel like we are not alone on the journey to maintain happiness and stressfree days.

I just had to write you. You are not alone, there are others who experience’S are similar. I have no parents. He really dont either. A ma that cuz me we where around but it was horrible. My children have no grandparents. I had to stop seeing my entire family because no matter what I did it was never good enough, they had to find something. Too much stress and negativity. Though I am sad my kids dont really know them and the ones they.did we r not around. They r the reason for this. My kids did not need to be around it and now their mom is better. Less stress and less endless rivers flowing from her face. It is ok to put your family first. My kids have a better mom now.

Thank you. Your reply really means a lot – especially because you’re in support of your wife, not just a wife replying. I wasn’t expecting a reply, I only came back here to tell my hubby about my comment and how Collin made her post right after his and my converstation; you’re reply was a nice surprise and has only helped us so much more!

AMEN! There is so much truth in Collin’s statements. Sometimes the best way to “help” someone save money is to show them just a little bit without burning them out and then back off. Eventually they will see the enormous amount of money you are saving and give it a try themselves or NOT. And YOU cannot change that. Just be happy with your savings and share what you can.

I love that quote “I love embracing each day with all that I’ve got. I love seeing the good in everything and everyone. I am an eternal optimist.”
That is so me, I wake up in the morning giving thanks and asking myself, what can I do to make a difference today.
