Apparently when you redeem your RR’s at the register, it will not print new ones even if the items have RR’s on them. I found this out yesterday and was so disappointed because it screwed up my other transactions.

    • Jennifer

You cannot use RRs and receive RRs if the RRs are from the same manufacturers. However, if you have a RR from Post cereal, for example, you can use it to buy razors and receive a RR from Proctor and Gamble. Does this make sense?

  2. VRK

Last week there were always napkins on sale at Walgreens $2/6 and i was supposed to get $4 RR. I used $1/2 coupon ,but the register did not print my $4 RR. So the lady called the manager and the manager said that because you used coupons thats why you did not get RR.So I returned the product and bought it again without coupon to get the $4RR.There were some other deals too like Oral B, and Colgate toothpaste . The Manager again said that if you use coupon you would get the RR. But I prefer not to buy them at Walgreen. I better use my coupons at CVS or Rite Aid get EB.
I always get frustrated at Walgreen’s coupon policy’s.

    • cynthsherm

The manager was incorrect. Collin has a link to the Walgreens Coupon Policy available here. It is highly recommended that you print it and carry it with you. I have one for each store that I shop at…if they have one! Anyway, what the manager was probably thinking is the RRs…a new RR will not print out if you are using a RR for that transaction for the SAME product…here we go…
You buy 2 Always Pads for $6.00
      You use a $3 off 2 coupon = $4.00
You use a RR from last week when you bought Always Pads…you will NOT receive a new RR.

You do not use the RR from last week when you bought Always Pads, BUT you DID use one from the Reach Toothbrushes…You WILL get a new RR for the Always Pads.
It is very confusing! That’s why it is so important to be prepared…
Carry the Coupon Policy with you. Not to be a know-it-all, but to help the store managers/clerks. It can be as confusing to them as it is to us.
Carry a smile and a positive attitude. Unfortunately, recently, many people are looking down their noses at couponers. We need to keep out image pleasant and positive.
Anyway, sorry I rambled on.. Hope this helped!

  3. Kierra

Oh Thank you!! Thank you! This is awesome!!

  4. Eileen

I’m sure others as well as I do appreciate all your efforts in getting the scenarios together, BUT too often the Walgreens supply is limited and sometimes you cannot get one of the deals so this really messes up the sequence and it doesn’t work. Prices also vary from store to store on nonsale items so what works one place won’t another. Thank you again for all your hard work. I get a kick out of your videos too!!!

    • melissa

I love the sceanerios because I am new at couponing and it really helps me out

  5. Stinawired

I do like the scenarios, and this may seem nit picky, but whenever a deal requires a snail mail rebate, I think the cost of the $0.44 stamp should be factored in.

  6. Sarah

    This one was on savingaddiction.com:
    Transaction #1:

    Stayfree Maxi Pads $2.99
    3 Splenda 100ct Packs $2.99 each

    -(3) $3/1 Coupons (from the 4/17 RP)

    Transaction #2:

    1 Nexcare Bandage $2.99

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I can’t find the splenda coupons. Can someone help me out.

  7. brooke lane

do you not need a filler item for the splenda deal?? I was planning on buying 3 or 4, with coupons for each.. would it beep without a filler?? I still dont understand the whole filler deal :-/

    • Dani

You wouldn’t need a filler on Collin’s transaction one. You are purchasing 3 Splenda and 1 Luster, so four items. You are using four manufacturer’s coupons.
4 items = 4 mfc coupons = GOOD. Pay out of pocket $4.46.
Now, if you had a RR from a previous transaction that you wanted to use to bring down the out of pocket, then you would have 5 manufacturer’s coupons. (RR are mfc coupons). This is when you would throw a filler on to keep your item to mfc coupon ration even.

The monthly booklets, infant care, diabetes, etc. are Wags coupons and should not affect your item to coupon ratio. However, looking at the posts you will see that Wags isn’t real keen on consistency.

One other thing to note, I have never received a RR when it was the same value as a coupon. For instance, the coupon is $2.00 off a tube of toothpaste and I am supposed to receive a $2.00 RR. The RR will not print. I was told by the catalina people it was because they are equal values and would have worked if my coupon was $1.75 or $2.25. Just something to look out for and I am surprised I see any comments about this more often. I believe I have gotten sidetracked. 🙂 HTH

  8. Anita

So so so helpful!! I work a lot of hours and have 2 small kids. Finding extra time is hard, bless you!

  9. Steph

    Oh, you are good!

  10. Katelyn

Quick question! If the Tilex is on sale for 2/$5 and you use (2) $2/2 and (2) $1/1 wouldn’t that equal out to $6 off? I get so confused on these things, thanks so much!

    • HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

🙂 she means use the $2 off of 2 in the april book (not two of them), hope that helps

      • Katelyn

Ohh! LOL I must have been reading it wrong, I woulda looked so dumb with two of them in the store, haha, thank you!!

        • HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

OOps should help you to know you only use one of every coupon book no matter how many you have. They usually scan it out of book or off the one they stick on item, because they dont put them in the drawer. So if you where to buy 4, it would take off $4. Same if off $1one item. Say you buy 2 scott naturals papertowels and use two $1.50 MQ off the website, the Wags book has $1 off, it would take off $2. I didn’t know that either until my favorite cashier clued me in and told me I was wasteing books that the store book Q’s go in the trash or they tape them on the product, and I felt dumb 🙂

          • Katelyn

Wow I didn’t know that either! I was getting like two books every month, but I guess I don’t have to worry about that now, thanks!

  11. HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

I think the tilex reset, I know I printed those not long ago and I was able to print now, worth a try if you think you did too 🙂

  12. Fan

Even if I were to buy stayfree along with 3 splenda, would the 3rd coupon ($3 splenda) beep?

    • anna

yes it would beep. i was able to get only one this week with one $3 coupon and it beeped. so i told the cashier to reduce the coupon amount to 2.99. and i had other items i was buying with it.

  13. Heather

Yes, thank you so much for the deal scenarios Collin!!! I think that this would be SUPER helpful if you had the time to do these every week!!! I don’t always see the big picture, so I’m not always getting the best deals possible.

Thanks again for all your hard work. =)

  14. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I love your site, but I don’t think long, complex transactions like these are helpful. Walgreens just has too many out of stock items. Even when I go on a Sunday noon, somewhere around 50% of the items will be out of stock already. I appreciate your attention and devotion, but I am afraid this type of scenario wouldn’t help me at all.

  15. debra

Wahooo! Rushed out to Wags this am to get the Splenda deal! Bought 12 boxes and made $18!! Preordered with my awesome manager last week so don’t fret! Shelf was totally stocked! Will go tomorrow for more deals but wanted to grab this one first. Left the kids with their awesome bunny baskets only to find plastic grass all over the living room when I returned! LOL! That’s what I get for leaving Dad in charge! LOL!

    HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL!!

  16. Carmel

Thank you Colin. You are very helpful. I’m trying to turn on my co-workers to couponing and your site is a big help when I’m trying to explain a senerio. Thank you I’ve learned so much and enjoy share with others.

  17. lynsharp

I would love the deal scenarios weekly. I don’t usually have time to put them together, so I’m sure I miss a lot of deals.

  18. mycatbutters

I like seeing the deals set up this way. For those that don’t, It’s really just the same thing as seeing them all separate. Each of the coupons she has mentioned is only used on the particular item. So if you go into the store and they are out of Splenda, you can still get the other item and use the coupon for it.

No matter how it’s presented, I always write each item out separately Cost , any coupons, final cost, any RR to expect. That way if something is out, I don’t get confused, especially when doing the buy $20 worth type deals.

  19. Jacque

Just a heads up — I stopped in a Walgreens yesterday that posted a sign limiting 2 RRs per person/per RR offer/day. That means, for those who like to do so, no one person could clear the shelf of 2-3 items just by rolling the rewards between the items. Personally, I like the idea so its a fair shot on any given day when a shipment of items (like razors) come in. Also, the Walgreens in my community will not allow 2 coupons to be used on a BOGO deal, like the air fresheners a few weeks back. I don’t like to confront people, so I just complied and politely asked them to return the items back to the shelf.

    • debra

Where r u located? Just curious and soooo happy that’s not my Wags. I never do more than 2 deals for any given item unless I have preordered. Just today I did 6 transactions on the Splenda dea l(I preordered 12 boxes) paying .12 cents OOP each time and receiving a $3RR back. Love my Wags this week! My store has never run out of razors and your store is incorrect on a BOGO. You should take a copy of their policy next time. Good luck and Happy Easter.

    • guitardayle

Jac, I had a horrible experience at my walgreens today on the BOGO razor sale. I had my two manufacturer coupons for $3 off each razor, trying to get the deal, and the cashier accused me of coupon fraud and told me to come back tomorrow to talk to the Store Manager!!! She was very rude even after I showed her the coupon policy and I was very kind to her! Can local stores boycott the corporate coupon policy?? I didn’t think they could. I’m trying to decide if I want to go back tomorrow to talk to the manager and get my $3 off with the coupon she wouldn’t let me use; or if i should suck up my pride and just shop at CVS from now on… it is just right across the street. LOL. Please help guys!!!

      -Severely disgrunted…. 🙁

      • Autumn H

I’m not sure about them being able to choose whether they compile by the corporate coupon policy or not but I did want to give my two cents on what I would do if I were in your shoes. I most definitely would go back to the store and have a chat with the manager tomorrow, also I would contact corporate and let them know of how you were treated by the cashier, there is just no excuse for anyone being rude to you just because your using coupons…ya know the way I see it, it’s your money you get to do what you want with it and if you want to save more of it by using coupons then who is anyone to judge how you use YOUR money…sorry for rambling but it really drives me crazy when anyone(cashiers, managers, customers in line behind me) want to judge and be rude about the way I choose to use my money!

  20. stacia

  21. Tabitha

Yes this is very very helpful! Thank you very much and HOPE to see more scenarios!!!!!!

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

how do you go about finding rebates that may be available for products that you buy? is there a go-to site? thanks!!

    • Autumn H

Michelle I know of one site that has a great “rebate database” couponingtodisney (dot) com. She has a database that she keeps current she even includes the link to print the rebate if applicable here’s a direct link to her database and its all in alphabetical order.
      https://www.couponingtodisney.com/earn-cash/rebates/
(sorry Collin I hate to plug another site but your still my favorite 🙂 )

  23. RUTH

Bought 2 splenda, no RR printed, manager said not listed in flyer, can’t give RR. How do I prove that it is suppose to print RR when it is not in the flyer?

  24. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Great site, I have tried to manage coupons in the past with not much luck. I have been using this site for about two months now and love it. I know I am saving cash now!

  25. Anonymous

    Collin,
I appreciate the time and effort you put into doing the scenerios. Unfortunately, my Wags is oftentimes out of stock even on Sunday. And, if they do happen to have the merchandise, there are limits, so I am not able to do most scenerios. Example: sometimes you might say, buy 4 (of whatever) and use 4/$1.00 coupons in 04/10 RP. But, our Walgreens will not allow more than 1 of an item (unless sale price is say, 2/$5.00. So…they don’t work for me. But, if other people aren’t limited at their Wags, the scenerios would be very helpful! Thanks for all you do for us! You are very much appreciated! 🙂

  26. Sierra

I have promised my fiancee that i would only use coupons on things that I would already buy therefore a lot of the deal scenerios dont help because they are things i wouldnt buy. HOWEVER the concept of the scenarios and the things i learn about using RR and manu coupons etc are awesome though because they are confusing! Today for instance I read that others have gotten the lame excuse from wags managers that you cannot use a manu coupon and get a RR so I know not to take the managers word for it and check the policy! Thanks Collin and Bryn!

  27. Lisa

I tried to purchase the BOGO Shick razors for $8.99 and use 2 $3/1 coupons from the Facebook site and the register beeped and the assistant mgr said I could not use 2 coupons. I pulled out the coupon policy and showed him that I should be able to use both coupons and he said he didn’t know how it would be possible. He said that since the register automatically takes off the second razor then I can only use one coupon. How do I do this? Is there a certain way the items and coupons need to be rung up?

  28. mbmitchell

Question – are all 32oz Tilex on sale at Walgreens? At my store they only have the shower fresh spray listed which is not included on the coupon. I was in a hurry so I didn’t bother to track down someone to find out for sure. The ad says Tilex 32oz but as I mentioned, the shelf says only shower fresh. Hmmm…

    • Katelyn

I had to show the ad to the cashier because ours wasn’t marked either, but they gladly changed the price on each to 1.50 🙂 Sometimes they don’t mark the sale items so make sure you ask them because they wanted to charge me reg. price which was 5.99 each!

  30. Fab4

Hi. It was only the shower fresh type of Tilex that was 2/$5 on sale at my store this morning. I had the cashier price check the other types and none were on sale.
Is it just me or is anyone else out there over-done on the candy??? I had to force myself to buy the two net-free single serve m&m’s at Rite Aid this morning – then even my hubby said no thx (unheard of in modern times!).
Thx for the match-ups. Love the site!

    • mamabug

Okay, so it sounds like the Tilex deal is a no-go this week. No problem… on to something else. And, yes, we are DONE with Candy. I bought 2 starburst eggs (free) today but will put them back for next year’s baskets. I have butterfinger coupons but it hardly seems worth it as we have tons of Easter candy still around!

  31. bpower

I must admit this was my very first time so I was VERY nervous for some reason, but it was a blast. I also did not have all the coupons in the example for Trans#1, Trans #2, Tran #3 but the entire experience was a blast, I just had to comment here…

  32. jessica

I love it! Please keep on doing this! it helps sooooo much!!

    • mamabug

That says on regularly priced Stayfree products. Would that work when it appears that the ones with the RR’s this week are technically on sale?

  33. Denise

Can someone help me out. I can’t find the splenda coupons.

    • mamabug

The insert coupons were regional so not all areas received them. My area did not. I did use the printable ones Collin linked to and it was still a money maker (spent $2.97 received $4 RR) but not as good as having the $3 off coupons.

  34. Tina

OMG, I just had the worst experience at WAGS. The cashier would not let me use any coupons on the Splenda that’s on sale for $2.99 and I only had two boxes, two BOXES. She was very rude saying she refuse to take the coupons even after I told her about their store policy. I guess I have to take a written copy from their website if I decide to ever visit them again. This is crazy.. They need to really train these cashiers. I usually don’t complain but I am sick of it and will contact Wags Corporate Office this time. I only have problems at Wags.

  35. Amanda

I have a question on RR’s. I went to Walgreens a couple weeks ago to buy Easter Candy for the kids. They had a RR deal on a Reese’s and Hershey’s I believe. Anyway…I bought the right amount to receive the register rewards. Is the Save $5.00 on any Hershey’s product a register reward? Or did I not receive it? And if it is the RR how do you use it on other items. I’m totally confused.

  36. Rachel C.

So irritated!! Just went to my Walgreens to get some Splenda and had two $3 coupons and 2 boxes of Splenda and a diet Dr. Pepper (to cover overage and to drink!) and the guy would not let me use both coupons. He called the manager and manager was so rude–said “you can’t get things for free” and I told him to adjust the coupon down and that he would be reimbursed for it. He said no, they would fire him and laughed in my face. I am so sick of using legitimate coupons and being treated like I am stealing. Any suggestions?? I am steaming.

    • Alicia

ALWAYS carry a Walgreens Coupon Policy on hand. You can find it on their website, or by going here – https://www.walgreens.com/topic/help/generalhelp/coupon_policy_main.jsp. You ARE NOT doing anything wrong. It is the manager who is obviously IGNORANT and doesn’t realize he is doing himself more harm than he is good. He is NOT where the buck stops. You need to contact corporate everytime you are treated like this. It helps educate these managers and may actually benefit you in the end. Remember, YOU are their customer.. without you.. they dont have a business. You SHOULD never be treated like that and DON’T tolerate it. Next time, have the coupon policy IN hand. If they CONTINUE to give you problems.. ask for the managers name. Or my favorite.. You can even ASK the manager for corporates number. (Make him sweat for giving you some BS hassle!!) Have the location and manager name on hand when calling corporate. Here is an easy way to complain, if your not a phone person. Email corporate, but make sure you REALLY sound as upset as you are. https://www.walgreens.com/marketing/contactus/forms.jsp?h1=Customer%20service%20&h2=Other%20service&h3=Corporate&h4=consumer – that is the link to email corporate. The same page has the number as well.

Remember, you are the consumer.. just because an employee or MANAGER does not understand their job.. you have PROOF in hand that you CAN do these transactions.. and use these instances as benefit to you. As long as you KNOW what you are talking about, the customer always wins in the end. 🙂

Alicia–thanks! I took your advice and fired off an email to corporate. I was successful at another Walgreens this morning, they adjusted my coupons down to $2.99 w/out even a word! Smooth transaction; I even complimented and wrote corporate about my positive experience in contradiction to the horrible one! I do compliment when they do their job well, but man, when they don’t I can sure complain! I will be sure and carry the coupon policy for now on.

I love this! It’s really helpful. I can save 10 or 20 bucks here or there on my purchases, but have trouble with scenarios like these. Thanks! Keep it up please!

I have a really good scenario if anyone wants to shop and the items are in your stores…My husband works at walgreens so remember they stock on thursday and friday mornings at most locations..my cost was a bit cheaper b/c I get a 15% discount on top of the sales and coupons and RR…but this still is really cheap!!! Take a look…Ohh one other tid-bit that may be an interesting fact is that you can use coupons for every item and be a money maker and as long as you are purchasing other items the extra money on your coupons from one item can go towards your other purchases. Their policy only states that if your coupon after all discounts, coupons and everything makes the total purchase less than the coupon the coupon will be reduced so use your extra splenda coupons if you have them from buying more than 1 or two papers!!!!
