When I was at Ulta on Sunday in Columbus, they had 3 weeks of free styling. This week is volume, next week was curly hair, and the week after was super straight! Hopefully other locations have more dates as well!

Thanks so much for this info! I have a big afro Simba mane, so I booked mine for the third week. I although do not know how long I will have to sit in there for….They’re going to wash it, blow dry it, and then flat iron it….. I am so excited for it to be super straight!!! woot woot!

Do you have to get your hair cut or can you just get an appointment for the styling for free?

    • Allie

I called them and you do not have to get a haircut or buy anything.

What do you suggest for a tip for one person? My hair is not too long and fine.

Woo hoo! Called my local store and first person told me they were booked for Wednesday so then I asked if there was a cancellation list. She then said she would transfer me to the salon, and that person told me they had one opening left at 4:30 pm! Boy do I feel lucky and before my big date night to celebrate my anniversary! Thank you, Collin, for posting this!

Great for certain hair types, but not for all. I have super thick curly hair and took advantage of the free shampoo and blow out for the Fekkai straightening series. It was the most awful experience of my life. The stylist attempted to use a round brush to blow dry my hair straight from being extremely wet. This took over an hour and I am uncertain as to the total amount of hair she ripped out of my head, as the brush kept getting stuck/tangled in my hair. I actually had to take an aspirin the next day because my head/scalp/hair hurt so much from the non-stop tugging. I felt silly for arranging a babysitter for my kiddos in order for me to go and be tortured!

I would recommend talking to the stylist / receptionist at your local Ulta first to make sure this is an event for your hair type! Also, I attempted to tip my stylist afterward for taking up so much of her time and she made it seem like I shouldn’t have.

I agree with you Amy! I was so excited in the last event that they had, i went with my daughter. My hair is wavy and my daughter’s is curly. At the end we both got the Fekkai shampoo apliccation, but they didnt want to spend to much time on our hair. Instead of geting my daughter’s hair a blowout and style, she got mousse for curly hair ( something that could have done by ourselves) I was the one who got the Cruela Devil style! That was my first and my last time going to the ULTA salons!

I honestly would tip on the amount the service would normally cost. I actually go to a stylist at Ulta (which is pricier than most salons, but this is one of my splurges made possible by coupons). I can relate to Amy, Ulta salons have a wide array of different stylists from the fresh out of beauty schoolers to the “Master Stylists” so I would be a bit apprehensive about not knowing who is going to be working on your hair.

Ulta also has some amazing prices on the Ulta line of make up this week. Sale prices range from $1 to $5 for eyeliner, lip gloss, nail polish, mascara, eye shadow, etc. A printable coupon is also available for $3.50 off of $10 on their website.
