HOT! Getting Toasty! Lukewarm Starting To Melt Ice Ice Baby

So, our Hip2Help Tour came to an end on Sunday. It was bittersweet. I definitely felt sad stepping out of that bus… the bus I had called home for the past 8 days. At the same time, I was excited to be able to head to my real home and sleep in my much missed bed.

This tour was an incredible eye opener for me. Life is such a blessing. A blessing we all too often forget is a blessing at all. I am going to make sure to stop and smell the roses… take time each day to really take everything in. Take time to smile, laugh with my kiddos, and spend quality time with my hubby. I have a wonderful life.

Alright, so before posting the 3rd video, I thought you all may be interested in hearing a little bit about how it was traveling in a bus with 9 kiddos and coping with a nasty bug that we all seemed to catch… yes, a total of 21 of us caught this very contagious virus.

I started to feel sick on the night of the 7th and when I woke up on the 8th (at 3:30am due to us having to be in the next town by 9:30am) I knew I was the next victim. I tried to sleep during the long drive and constantly awoke to that horrible nauseous feeling. Once we arrived at the hotel, I could barely walk to our hotel room as the little black dots started to form and dizziness ensued. I literally crawled on the elevator and when I tried to crawl off (according to my husband who was carrying all the luggage) I fainted, hit my head on the elevator door and then threw up all over the carpet in the hotel hallway. Even worse, I threw up right next to a trash can. Yes, it was not fun and pretty embarrassing as all the hotel employees assumed it was a child, but no… just Collin. πŸ™‚

And on another note, traveling with nine kiddos. Well, it definitely made things very interesting. Yes, we dealt with rambunctious and wild kiddos. We dealt with tears and fits… kicking and screaming. But I don’t regret, for even a second, the decision to bring them.Β  They saw and they learned so much in each stop we made. They cried and laughed… and loved! They all know, even more so now, that life should never be taken for granted.

Ok, so here’ the 3rd video… and stay tuned for the 4th video soon (and possibly a 5th bloopers video! πŸ˜‰ )!

I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping out in such a hands-on way. The tornados struck my hometown in Tennessee so I feel like you helped my family when you reached out to the area. God bless, and thanks again for all you do!

I’m so sorry that you & the others got sick. I know especially while travelling in a vehicle feeling nauseous is awful. You all are pretty amazing for doing the trip especially when you guys were sick for part of it.

Truly Amazing!!! My local news did a story this morning about stores implementing limitations on coupon use because of Extreme Couponing.. I submitted your videos to their news tips to show the good in coupon use!

Very inspiring, and makes me grateful for what I have! I cried, still am! Collin, you and your family are amazing people. Heartwarming to the core…

  18. Bonoca

    Collin,

Your web site is awesome is so many ways! Hope you are recovering and taking a much needed rest πŸ™‚

What a great idea you had to share with so many who had lost so much. You did a real “mitzvah” (Hebrew word to mean “good deed”).

You obviously take pride in what you do. I sometimes look at another savings site. It is riddled with typos, doesn’t state the time of its posts, and most deals are either expired or incorrect. They seem to be concerned with quantity over quality. I appreciate that you personally take the time to make sure your information is correct and mark out posts that have expired, saving your readers precious time and money. You also take the time each week to connect with your readers with your “Coffee with Collin”.

It’s these little touches that make you stand head and shoulders above the rest. Keep up the good work and know your readers really appreciate all you do!

  19. Beth Anne

Man you were busy but I couldn’t tell you still blogged on your regular schedule it seemed!

  20. sockmonkey

Collin, What you all did for those families is such a blessing. I want to thank you sincerely for giving them hope in humanity and they will get through this traumatic experience so much easier knowing you were there to support and help them.

    • Nadine

I completely agree. This restores my faith in humanity too.

  21. Paty

AWESOME!!!!! I tear up every time. I think that what you and your team did is great. Like the guy said teh help comes and goes, but the need continues. Thanks for your help.

  22. Lisa

    Collin & Crew,
In a society that seems to be, all to often, self serving, what an inspiration and blessing
you’ve been to those in need – to all of us!
May we “go and do likewise!”

  23. brooke lane

these videos give me goosebumps.. I just love them! Awesome job.. way to go Collin!

  24. Sarah

Collin, you’re an angel on Earth. Your children are destined to do great and important things because they have a mother who leads by example. Through the adversity and illness you all faced, you managed to touch the lives of people completely devestated by one of mother nature’s catastrophes. I imagine, 20 years from now, when your daughter watches this video, perhaps preapring for babies of her own, she will reflect upon the amazing path you have set for her and she will take great pride in knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, she has a mom who truly cares about the world. May God bless your family the way you have blessed others. My mama always told me: Live your life in such a way that your moral compass always points “true north.” Following you on Hip2Save surely points me in that very direction. Thanks for all you do.

    • Michelle

      Beautiful message. Very well said!

Now where’s a coupon for waterproof mascara? ….

  25. aprila

I love ur videos. It is so hard to imagine losing everything. U guys are so inspiring and did such an amazing job!

  26. Kim

Collin, how much you have inspired me, and likely so many other readers, to go and do good to others, not just with this Hip2Help tour, but so many other times! Being blessed by the savings I have reaped since beginning to read your blog has inspired me to help my local crisis pregnancy center with monthly donations, adopt troops who distribute the packages I send to others who get little or nothing from home, and regularly contribute to our church’s food pantry. There are so many things individuals can do to help others in need. You don’t even have to travel across the country to do it! After watching your videos, I have made the commitment to begin going out into the community as often as possible in a hands on capacity with my family. It’s such a great life lesson you have taught your kids, one they will never forget. Thanks for teaching it to us, too!

  27. Heather

Thanks for all you do. I really enjoyed meeting you in Memphis (I am the crazy one who had you sign my coupon purse).

  28. andrea

You are awesome!! I am sorry you got sick… Thank you for all you do> πŸ™‚

  31. Dee

So touching . . . thanks for sharing your experiences. Sometimes it’s so easy to remove yourself from all the destruction. I appreciate knowing that someone like myself can make a difference.

  32. Laura

Collin and the Hip2help team, you all are wonderful. I’m glad you took the children, this is something they will remember for a long time. It’s good for everyone to realize it could happen to me. So the hands on help and being a blessing to someone else is a great life lesson. Let this be a reminder for all of us to look for ways to be a blessing and a help to others each day. Thank you all…

  33. Jodi

Collin, you are an amazing person! Thanks to you and all of those who helped with your “hip2help” journey. I’m sure it is an experience none of you will forget.

  35. georgiadan19

hey ! touching video so glad to be a part of hip2save (HIP2HELP) my baby is the one with the white bows and pig tails πŸ™‚ awwww she made the video!!! πŸ™‚

  36. Nikki

Collin you guys are awesome. There are those who say that they are going to help and there are those who just go out and do it. I have been moved to tears each and every time I view your videos. Sometimes we become so consumed with what’s in going on in our lives that we never step outside those doors to see that there are those who have it worst off then us and that we can actually help them out. I have be overwhemeled with the fact that we may lose our home because we are behind on our property taxes, and there are those who had a home taken away from them through a force of nature. I cried the hardess today because what a great way to help others, in their current situations a little goes a long way, and is so greatly appreciate. You helped us see the truth without blinders, thank you for all that you do for my family and the many, many other lives you touch.

  37. Laura B

    Collin,

May you feel blessed every day!

  38. Laura

    Collin-
You inspire me to be a better person every day. The world is lucky to have people lile you in it.

  39. toni62864

Collin, I want to thank you & your crew for everything you did. Every time there is a disaster I want to go & help in some way, but I find all kinds of reasons that I can’t. Next time I hope I can follow your example. Maybe, after watching your videos, there will be more “Collins” in the world. Thanks again.

  40. Cierra

Ugh…. just made me cry. So thankful for all the help that these people received. What a great family/community we have here. Love that people do still care and give themselves when needed. Thanks for all the hard work Collin, what a great inspiration!

  41. Casey K

Great Video!! You are wonderful Collin! SO glad I found your site.

  42. Joy

It’s like you can see the hand of God on your shoulder Collin! YOU ROCK!

You absolutely must do a Blooper Video because you always have the best bloopers!!!!!!!

  43. Lisa B

You and your family are truly an inspiration to us all. We need to continue to help one another throughout our lives. I love the videos and wish they were longer!

  44. Ann Dee

    Bloopers! Bloopers! Bloopers!

  45. Katie

    You are doing amazing things!

  46. Vicki

This is so sweet. Thank-you Collin for getting the information to me about when you guys were in my state, even though we fanagled things around and I couldn’t make it out or up, I still know all of our folks were so very appreciative in this state and also for the Memphis area too. Someone said a while back that after a couple weeks the ’emergency’ feel would wear off and most folks would leave and all that would be left would be who lived in the actual hometown, etc.and people would again have to rely on their own families and any help they could get to continue, so I am Positive when you guys rolled in, it was such a welcome and refreshing sight, cranky kids, virus bugs and all. Lol! We love you all dearly who helped, participated and donated. Your time and gifts will be remembered and the lessons the kids saw visually will stay w/them forever! Thanks again, XoXo

  47. DianeG

Never underestimate the power of one determined person – Collin, G-d Bless you, your family, and the Hip2Save family.

  48. Tiffany

Wow, great video, wonderful job Isaac! You guys all worked so hard and it really is apparent in the videos and in the faces of everyone you talk to! Job well done, Hip 2 Save crew!!

  49. Denise G.

Sorry you were so sick! You did an amazing job. Love the cake too.

  50. kristyn

Collin it was a pleasure to meet you and your family in Memphis! All of the kids were very kind and well mannered. Even though we didn’t have a very good turn out in numbers, I keep telling everyone that it wasn’t the quantity of people who came, but rather the quality in which they gave. Each of our sponsored families will receive $338.75 in gift cards!!! I know we were giving to them, but they gave so much to me. Thank you!
