We all know that part of what is so great about all the freebies we sign up for, is getting something fun in the mail. So wouldn’t it be nice to get little surprise freebies and stay in touch with friends at the same time? Well, that is exactly what a few friends and I do! Just get a couple friends on board and arrange an exchange. The idea is to randomly send each other small, inexpensive items along with a short note or card.
I exchange with three friends, by doing it this way, each friend is receiving a surprise from me about every third month and in return, I am receiving “fun mail” back almost monthly because I am receiving it from three different people. Plus, in this age of text messaging and email, it is nice to get a note in your actual mailbox. It is a fun challenge to think outside the box sometimes for these exchanges. Here are a few ideas I have both sent and received to get you started:
Lip gloss (I got the one pictured on sale for 75% off, plus had coupons!)
Free product coupons
Jewelry (Bracelets Pictured)
Seed packets (Flowers, Veggies, or Herbs)
Funny sticker sheets
Books (After finishing a book, if we think a friend would like it, we send it over. After we both have read it, we call to discuss what we thought of it.)
Funny refrigerator magnets
Seasonal clearance items
Bath bombs (These are around $3 for a three pack at Walmart. They are individually wrapped so you could buy one package and divide it up amongst three friends!)
Pocket Bac (from Bath & Body Works)
Favorite candy bar (I suggest this in cooler weather!)
Funny or cute cookie cutter along with favorite recipe
Any freebie we get and think a friend would appreciate more
Bookmark (You can buy one or make your own.)
Picture (One of my friends rode in a parade and I snapped a great pic of her!)
Cute or funny socks
We usually include a note or card which can either be store bought (Several stores have a 2/$0.99 section) or homemade like the one I made to hold a seed packet pictured below. Just have fun with it!
