    LOVE IT!!! hahahaha!!!!

I live in Florida, nice use of our tax dollars! LOL

I live in Florida and unfortunately many tax dollars go towards things we may not approve of. There’s a simple answer: people living out of ridiculous lawsuits.

My friend lives in a dead end road and it has dead end signs and orange and black stripes and she told me someone once crashed there and sued the county. So I guess this is a sign for whoever needs to know that there’s no more sidewalk so they don’ trip and sue. If I was the sate I would spend another dollar on putting up a solar light on it so they don;t bump their head or toes and night and sue. lol

    • Laura

That makes sense. People sue over anything. It’s really quite sad.

      • rifat

Took the words from my mouth. Enough said!

    • Francoise

It’s for those people who text while they walk, only bothering to look up every once in a while. Better to walk into the sign than into the street!

      • ketsy

        Don’t text while walking lol

    • ct

I live in South Florida and they spent thousands in this state re-naming our FL Turnpike the “Ronald Reagan Turnpike” and put up tons of signs naming it along the highway that runs the length of the state. Thousands of taxpayer dollars wasted for “naming” road!!! Insane….

  4. Kira C

It’s so just in case you aren’t smart enough to tell the difference between concrete and dirt/grass under your feet, you have the sign to warn you the concrete is ending. LOL!!! How stupid!! 😛

  5. Alyssa

I would have never guessed that one!!! Ha ha ha ha ha

  6. ketsy

I live in Florida. These are very common around here. It’s to avoid people for suing for yet more ridiculous reasons.

  7. Tracy

Oh wow…I am so glad that they have told us… I would have never figured out where the sidewalk ends. Thanks! LOL

  8. Connie

We had one of those type of signs in the town I grew up in and I would guarantee you that sign is there because someone had an accident there because they thought the sidewalk kept going and they drove into a dangerous situation. The sign we had was because a group of teens didn’t know the road ended and they kept driving right past the stop sign and they perished. So, while upon first glance it may seem funny, I bet it has a serious purpose.

It’s like the moment Forrest Gump decided to stop running! Done! [great photo!]

  10. toni62864

I thought for sure that picture was taken in my town until I looked down and saw Florida. Florida isn’t the only state to to waste tax money like that. We have a sidewalk to nowhere and a sign like that.

  11. mandy

with all the cuts in education, the sign may soon prove no purpose, no on will be able to read it!

    • ct

Amen to that one times 1 million 🙂

  12. Trish @TheOldPostRoad

Don’t they need to spend a little tax money on a sign in other languages, in case someone cannot read english?

It is not just Florida -the government idiocy is all over America.
    -Trish

    • Mimi

      I agree.

    • melissa

um, this is AMERICA. People from other countries wants to come here, but not bother learning the ENGLISH language. When you go to other countries, signs aren’t always translated in English. So no, taxpayers don’t need to fork over more money to have signs in English AND another language. B/C if its English/Spanish, then French ppl will want it translated in their language and so on.

      • Mimi

It should ONLY be in English because this is the United States of America and when people come here from other countries, they should learn English. My parents had to and wanted to when they came here from Cuba.

  13. Roger

Had they not put the sign, they could have potentially been sued, had someone been injured on a bike or even walking after dark. Notice the sidewalk obviously ends before the street, to avoid people, stupid people, from potentially continuing to walk into the street. Not that I agree with the expense; just another perspective from the other side. I’m a taxpayer too!

    • Tiffany

Ok…but what if its at night and I’m riding my bike and there’s also no lights! Then I don’t see the sign that the sidewalk ends and I smash into the pole!! So really, they need lights, and maybe one of those informational sound boxes that tells you what the sign says in ten different languages. Hmmm….LOL 😀

      • Jess

In Florida, it is the law to have lights on your back. A solid white one in the front and a flashing red one in the back. Both have to visible from 50 ft.

      • Francoise

What are you doing on the sidewalk with you’re bike? Not riding it I hope. That’s illegal around here! 8 )

  14. Rebecca

i wonder how many ppl wouldn’t know if the sign is not there. LOL

  15. Tiffany

I bet its to people don’t keep walking and walk right into that street and get hit…then sue. LOL!! Sigh….

  16. Dewdrop

There was a woman who tripped over her son in a furniture store and broke her arm. She sued the store for her injuries and WON!!! Are people really that stupid anymore? (nevermind don’t answer that!) 😉

  17. RockMommy

Do you know where in Florida? Looks just like a sidewalk and sign in Naples, FL at Davis & Santa Barbara.

  18. Dee

But the sign is in English…what about those who don’t speak or read or understand English. They would keep on walking?

  19. Kate

Some people just need it spelled out….case in point.

  20. Meg

No, offense, Florida, but my inlaws live near Ocala, and I’ve never seen such scary driving!

If your walking is similar, I can see the need for signs! 🙂

    Just kidding, of course!

    • ct

There is a reason that Florida is called “heavens waiting gate”, they all come down here to retire and press the gas instead of a brake and land their car in their neighbor’s pool or house, weekly! I wish I was kidding but I’m not.

  21. Heather J.

So THAT’S where The Sidewalk Ends!!!! 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I was thinking the same thing! Haha!

    • Francoise

      Anyone know where it begins?

  22. Jordan

    Oh my gosh. Hilarious!

  23. julie

Why did the sidewalk to nowhere even have to be in the first place?

    • Amy

Thank you! That is exactly what I was thinking.

  24. Diane

I just saw a sign like this in Illinois and thought “What the heck?” But it was a sidewalk that ran parallel to the road so it really didn’t make any sense.
