    I can’t believe they are having “Getting Ready to Bottle Feed” classes at BRU. Why can’t they help women with the knowledge they might need breastfeeding instead – since we all know breastfeeding is better for the child AND mother. Some of us have to work to find the info we need to successfully breastfeed our kids when the kid is having trouble breastfeeding – but they’re worth it and we are too!

    But noooo, BRU and other goons want to charge gullible moms money for bottle feeding kettles and crap. :-{

      Where did you see that? It is outrageous! I wonder if La Leche League knows about it!

      It seems BRU wants moms to buy expensive formula and all additional equipment instead of nursing their children, how sad! 🙁

    I feel that as moms we really need to be more supportive of one another. There are many women who know “breast is best” but for whatever reason they cannot breastfeed. Raising a child today is extremely challenging and everyone’s different. I try to take life as Thumper’s daddy suggested “if you can’t say something nice. don’t say nothin’ at all” But I did want to let you guys know that BRU is offering a breastfeeding 101 event the following Tuesday night. (I breastfeed both of my children until they self weaned at about 12 months).

      I did not and would never say that breastfeeding is easy for everyone. I was in extreme pain breastfeeding my daughter for the first FIVE months. One of the two top lactation consultants in Los Angeles couldn’t find the problem. Fortunately the other one did find out why my daughter could not breastfeed properly.

      I know some women do not want to breastfeed for other reasons. I regret that they aren’t willing to go beyond their personal comfort level just to try breastfeeding for their children. But some don’t. That is their choice.

      I think we could be more supportive of women who are having trouble breastfeeding if we work to make more ways for them to get the information and help they need at a reasonable cost. Some women do breastfeed their children with no trouble at all. I have a friend who was in that group. However, some other women, like me, need more help than just a “Breastfeeding 101” class usually.

      If BRU and other organizations would take even 1% of what they make on bottle warmers, bottle-feeding kettles and other related things, they could give that money to organizations who can help women who are having difficulty breastfeeding and make it possible for them to succeed.

      I said nothing against women that bottle feed. I simply wish that women who want to breastfeed could get the help they need to succeed.
