Just to throw it out there, I bought some bambo cutting boards a while back when a deal came up, and I really can’t use them because they splnter so much, and I’m afaid it’s going to get in my food. I basically just use them as sort of serving trays every once in a while, but I don’t think I’d buy them again if they came up.

Did you buy Core products or just bamboo? There are differences in brands.

      • Faith

I purchased the Core Cutting Boards, and mine broke down the middle. Didn’t drop or anything, just cutting one day on them and they broke. I have other products as well that aren’t bad, but I would stay away from the cutting boards.

I’m pretty sure it was from the Modnique site, so good point, I don’t know if these ones are good or not.

I brought my total up to $51.96 but it says that the coupon code GA1745 is invalid.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

GA1745 is also invalid for my $55 order.

      • DJENX03

Have you already used GA1745 this month with another purchase? I just read on another site that each customer can only use the particular code, one time. 🙁

        • kdolley

No, I’ve never bought from this site before : (

          • Ally

Yeah, same here I’ve never bought from this site before, I spent over $50 and couldn’t use the code 🙁

Thanks for the heads up. I didn’t know I had a $15 credit in my account, so I was able to get my daughter the Melissa and Doug Sandwich making set for under $5 for her upcoming birthday. Thanks.

Collin – I’m not sure that you’re helping people save money with these posts…it seems more like you’re encouraging people to spend money on things that are not that inexpensive and that they may not need.

    • sss

I completely agree. I was thinking the very same thing… and maybe to get some free credits too. I hate to be negative, but these just don’t seem like money-saving deals or even very good deals at all. Sorry.

    • Collin

      Hi Betsy,

I try to post all sorts of different deals, freebies, coupons and more on Hip2Save. I try to cater to lots of different people from all walks of life. If this deal isn’t for you, just skip over it and move on to the next.

And I do always try to price compare on Amazon as that helps me see if these are in fact good prices. The 14 piece Core Bamboo set is priced at $34.99 on Amazon, so $14.99 seems like a great deal in my book! 🙂

And please keep in mind, I know these deals are not for everyone. Please don’t ever feel as if I am wanting you to buy everything posted on Hip2Save. In fact, quite the opposite. I post such a vast array of deals, so that you can be picky and choose only the deals that you truly think are worthy of a purchase.

      Sorry for rambling! 🙂

This is so silly. Collin isn’t here to make decisions for you. She’s not telling you to buy this stuff. She’s highlighting deals. If this stuff is on your wish list or gift list and they’re planning on buying it anyway, then yes, she’s saving you money. If it’s not, then don’t buy it. And if you don’t want her to get credits, go directly to the site. Simple stuff here.

        • Jen B.

Amen, Linzi! I was so stunned when I saw those posts that I was rendered speechless at first- and ask my husband, that doesn’t happen very often!! No one is forced to buy anything and if it doesn’t seem like a good deal to you, then don’t buy it. No one is putting a gun to your head! I’m super grateful to Collin for teaching me how to help my family by maximizing my savings and using coupons/deals to their fullest, introducing me to new sites and products that I never would have know about otherwise and have really helped us out, and most of all making me feel like I can still be home with my son and contribute something to our bottom line while helping others in need. I don’t think there is any need to lash out at her because you are not interested in a deal that she has posted. I often think emails/forums/etc give people a little bit too much room to act as though there is not a human being on the receiving end of their comment. I doubt the comments made would be said in the same manner straight to her face. If you have any doubt of Collin’s intentions to help and share with others, all you have to do is look through the site and at all the work she has put in to help those that have been devastated by natural disasters this year. She’s got a heart of gold and doesn’t deserve your criticism. And no, I’m not related, have never met her, and have not been paid or forced into saying these things. Keep your head up, Collin- you’re doing an amazing job and your true readers/fans know that!!

          • Ally

Same here. This deal actually helped me b/c I’m going to a wedding and it helped me get some nice stuff on the list for a lower price. I use this site all the time and I’m glad Collin posts all kinds of stuff. I’m in college and my fiancee is in the Navy, and we both cannot say how much this has helped us with our limited resources. Some deals I’ll never use, but some of them I’m SO grateful for, like this one today with the wedding I’m going to.

      • Betsy

Thanks for the reply Collin. I do appreciate all of your money-saving tips, and of course I realize that if a deal is not for me, I can just skip over it. However, I worry that many people do not have that ability. Credit card debt is rampant (as you know), and many people may not have the self control to skip over deals that they do not need or can’t afford. This link says that almost half of all Americans have credit card debt, so potentially half of your readers are living outside their means (https://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/nfcc-financial-literacy-survey-09-1267.php). I guess you can’t cater to everyone all of the time, but I do think it’s something to keep in mind…

Code not working for me either. Bummer.
