Sent from reader, Suzana: My sister and I love to coupon together. We’re 16 and 11, and when we first found Hip2Save, we were intrigued by all the videos and watched them all in one night! In one of the Walmart videos, Collin was a “coupon fairy” and left a few Similac $5 coupons right under the product. We were shocked… especially since it was a money maker (the Similac was only $3.84)! We were inspired and now this is our favorite way to dispose of unused coupons… to spread them around to the community! I got the coupons from my Downy Unstoppables sample and headed to Walmart. We taped the coupon (and a note to email us if someone used it- no emails yet!) to the product. The best part was that when we got ready to leave, we swung by the aisle again and one product with its coupon had been taken! It was a great feeling and we felt like we had made a difference! 🙂

Just went to Supertarget today with my little sisters and bought them some very cheap shirts on clearance with my 5 dollar off coupons that expire tomorrow. I didn’t find any Merona bottoms I wanted and left them on some shirts near the bottoms, but was worried nobody would see them. At the register, the cashier was upset that she didn’t see the 5 dollar coupons because she prints them all the time too, so I let her have the five dollar bottom coupons. I know she would’ve wanted the top coupons more, but she was still grateful for the coupons and said “Don’t worry.. people will always find the coupons you leave!” I bought my little sisters covergirl lipgloss with the coupons at riteaid, so I don’t think the older one is as embarrassed anymore about coupons! ; ) Got to start them young!

I love leaving coupons for others just as much as I love saving money myself. I had an awesome experience at Target last week. I heard this guy gabbing about the Downy Unstopables and asking his wife if she had a coupon for them so they could try it. She was at the other end of the aisle telling him that she didn’t have any. I said, “If you don’t have one, I’d be glad to share one that I have so you can try this product because I love it!” They were so tickled that I would share a $2 coupon with them. They couldn’t believe it. I told them, “I have more than enough to share, I’m happy to give them to you!” 🙂 I hope someone found the big stacks of coupons I left all over my Wal-Mart today!

I wished I lived where some of you lived, ; ). The coupons people leave in my town are already expired by a few days, so it’s like they’re just cleaning out their binder or something.

      • MA

Perhaps they weren’t expired when they were left, just short-dated. Just because one person doesn’t use something, another person may be glad to get it.

Think the correct thing to do in this case is to save the store time & money & take the coupons to either go through them and salvage the ones that may be usable & pass along again, or toss them, either at the store or at home. Otherwise I fear that the stores may not be as friendly to us couponers because it will end up costing them money to dispose of coupons. Just my .02.

I think being a “Coupon Fairy” is awesome, especially for the ages of these girls & the fact that they are already into couponing! I sometimes leave coupons myself & love helping other people out at the register.

However, I am also a vendor for a major, world-wide company & am aware that stores can actually run into some issues attaching manufacturers coupons to products that are not their own.

I’m not talking about putting up a tear pad on a display, but physically attaching {with tape, glue, pre-stickied coupons, etc..} to vendor product. I personally do not care if the stores were to do it! Because it increases sales 🙂

*Please note that I am also a bargain blogger & am not trying to be negative at all; just a friendly heads up so no one runs into any issues* 🙂

Last night I went to Wal-Mart and saw a Gerber’s Printable coupon for $1/2 gerber snacks, I was thrilled(I don’t have a printer and have been envious of this coupon because we buy soo many of them.)

Got to the register and the coupon didn’t ring up. Wasn’t a legit coupon. Bummer.

on a positive note: Kudos to the girls who are doing this, and to be so young. They are learning vauluable things that will last them forever!

I will be MORE THAN HAPPY to mail you some Gerber printables. We have multiple computers in my house that I can use. If you want to send me your address, my email is leigh.edge01@gmail.com.

These girls are wonderful! It is great when you either leave coupons for people or find them yourself. I work on the Front-end at Walmart and a lot of times I take my binder to work with me. When customers buy items I know I have coupons for, I ask them to wait a second and get the coupon for them. Everyone I have done this for is always tickled pink and thankful. I love saving money with coupons but I also love saving other people money too. Thanks to all the coupon fairies!!! 😀

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That is really awesome that you share your coupons at check out! That is really nice and I am sure some people are so thankful for saving those couple of extra cents/bucks!!! I hope this is returned ten-fold somewhere down the line for you!

  14. Kari

    What nice girls!!

Does anyone know how much DOwny Unstoppables cost? I am wanting to try this produt

  15. Vel

I always do this with coupons I’m not going to use. Lots of times people stop me in the store and say “Hey Coupon Lady” when they see my book and I simply ask them “what do you need” and we go through my book front to back. If I’m not going to use them I want someone to. If I have expired coupons I send them to military families who can use them for up to sex months after their expiration date. Throwing away a coupon is throwing away money. Can’t do it.

  16. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Way to go girls*! Very sweet and kind of you! I had one of those moments the other day at Walmart. A dad was on the phone with his wife confused on what to buy for a birthday gift for the right age group as well as having a budget. Not to ease drop on his conversation LOL, however I had a stack of Transformer coupons and gave him 10. 🙂 The toys were priced at $7.96 and the coupon was $5 off. He couldnt believe the act of kindness and I simply told him no worries Im happy I was able to help. 🙂 He then said wait so I can get 3 of these for the price of 1, and said you got it 🙂 So I went on to shopping down a few aisles and heard him over the phone in the most excited voice that he had found the perfect gift and for a great price!
