HOT! Getting Toasty! Lukewarm Starting To Melt Ice Ice Baby
0.0 / 0 ratings

I have the most wonderful, giving, funny, generous, kind, intelligent, inspiring, loving, caring, selfless, fun (and the list goes on!) readers…

I hope you all know how much I appreciate each and every one of you! Through this blog I have learned about the importance of putting yourself in others’ shoes and having compassion for others. And… well, how incredibly amazing it is to be able to give. It is so true – giving is so much better than receiving! Don’t understand this statement? Start giving and you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. ~Leo Buscaglia

Thank you all for showing me exactly what life is about! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. BW

Collin, I just wanted you to know that this is not the only act of kindness one of your readers has shown… A few months back, when we did the coupon swap, I explained to one lady how my husband had been laid off. Since then she has sent me 3 different “care packets” with coupons for diapers, formula, and anything and everything else related to a baby. She has been a blessing to me and I have never met her. There really are good people out there!

    • Kim

I have a lot of baby coupons and things I have collected along the way..If you would like I would be more then happy to ship some stuff to you also!! email me at KimAWatkins@yahoo.com and we can chat

    • Carter

Are you still using formula? I received a packet of “Simply Right Complete Milk-Based infant formula with iron” today that yields 8-4fl oz bottles that I do not need. It is not much but at least it would be put to good use. Let me know! cwhale11@yahoo.com

    • jalsufy

I also have 4 cans of similac formula that I will not use. Please let me know if you need it. lulock12@gmail.com

That is SO sweet of Chrissy!!! I too love doing things like that for others. It makes me feel so good to put a smile on someone’s face. My husband was recently laid off, so I can’t afford to do anything like that at this time, and it’s killing me!!! I can’t wait until I can afford to help others again!

I loved reading this Collin – thank you! I have a girlfriend that is the most incredible giver that I know. She and her husband have taught and inspired my husband and I to give and serve others on so many levels. She is the most selfless person that I know – and what makes it even more beautiful is her sincere humility.
Tonight she is sitting beside her father with family as he takes his final breaths… and she has said what an honor it is to hopefully show him some love and honor him as he has her all these years. As her friend I am feeling so inadequate – knowing that I can not do anything to take away the sense of loss she is feeling. But yet I know that the greatest gift I can give her tonight is prayer. If you are reading this – please join with me in lifting up her family – thank you!

    • Z

I will join my prayers with yours!

    • irene

That was written so beautifully. My thoughts are especially with you and your friend, as I just lost my father to cancer in August.

    • kit

my thoughts & prayers are with you, your friend, and her family.

    • Victoria

I will include her in my prayers. I lost my husband 18 days ago, so I know what she is going through.

      • Jaclyn

Victoria- I am so sorry to hear about your loss! I couldn’t even imagine how hard that would be! I wish I could give you a HUGE {hug} & take you under my wing! Wishing you the best!

        • Victoria U

Thank you Jaclyn for the cyber hug, I can never get enough hugs right now.

      • Jamie K

I will certainly pray for this dear friend of yours – and for you as well Victoria. What you must be going through! May God encourage your heart now when you need it most!

      • Laura Larsen

praying for you as well Victoria…god bless you and keep you. hugs

        • Victoria U

Thank you so much for your prayers Jamie and Laura.

    • Heather

Tear jerker… I will be thinking of her and her family during this hard time.

  20. Amanda

Ask and you shall receive, through the power of God’s love. ๐Ÿ™‚ This is one of the bigger gestures I have seen here but it’s certainly not the first. Hoping to pass some of this feel good feeling along today.

  21. Charmaine

You only get one chance to live so everyday counts and everyday you can make a difference. Lead by example ๐Ÿ™‚ Way to go Chrissy! You are an inspiration to all! God Bless!

  22. Rachael

Awl, what a great ending to my day. So sweet! Love it!

  23. Amyt

Thanks for posting this. Love you Hip2Save!

  24. Z

I love your blog. I have seen people offer coupons or codes or advice quite frequently. And so many take the time to add comments when they see better deals or when something isn’t working quite right. Everyone works together so that the next person will get an even better deal. I think it is fabulous. Personally, I do not know how I would survive without your site. I spend many late nights planning my shopping for the week. My husband has addiction problems and I had to leave home with my kids for awhile. No savings and making minimum wage…we live on very little to say the least. I have always lived frugally, but it has taken on a whole new meaning. I used to stress over every purchase. Now I can plan ahead in the privacy of my own home and feel confident that I am getting the most for the little I have. You help me! You help many people and it is obvious you inspire them too. Keep up the good work! I have $40 tucked back for Christmas and hope to get all three kiddos something nice ๐Ÿ™‚ I have faith that if I keep checking…you will help me find the perfect deal. Thank you Colin!

    • irene

You are so strong and have such a positive attitude. It’s very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story.

    • kellyh

So many amazing deals get posted as the holidays come closer….you WILL be able to get your kids something great! Way to go to already have that saved away. I hope you find some sweet deals! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Kim

As I sit and read your dedication to your children it makes me so glad there are people aout there like you.. I have a question for you but it is a bit personnal. Could you email me at bojanngles88@yahoo.com.
      Thanks

    • Laura

Z you should check to see if there is a program in your area through a church or the fire/police dept. etc that helps people with Christmas. We did it last year and I was worried that going and picking up the toys would make me feel bad about myself, but the people there were SO kind and loving it felt great. Plus, the thing your kids will remember the most is the love you gave them ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck!

      • Jennifer

You’re so right Laura… our house caught on fire @ 5 years ago, it was contained to 2 rooms, but those 2 rooms were my two kids’ rooms and the damage (mainly from water and smoke) consumed one whole side of the house… that was the first year we had nothing, but thankfully there were programs that replaced my kids’ clothes, toys and so many other household items, we were up in a hotel for several days and what was such a horrible ordeal for my family, could have been so much worse if not for the programs and kindness of complete strangers.

On another note… last year we were trying to adopt my niece and nephew who were taken by CPS, we have 3 kids of our own and only a 1 person income, it was amazing how many people I never met or know of before that time were willing to help. I had a blog and was simply talking about the situation and every day someone sent me something new, from BOXES of diapers and wipes (the 2 kids were both in diapers, along with my youngest son), boxes of formula, boxes of clothes and shoes and toys… it brought tears to my eyes every single day, if not for the kindness of strangers, I wouldn’t have gotten those babies, even if it did only end up being for a month.

      • Z

Our church and school helped us last year and it was wonderful. Each of the kids got a new coat, hat, gloves and outfit. People are incredibly kind and giving.

  25. Rachael R

Wow. That is amazing. This post makes me so very happy!

  26. kiran

    you go gal……

  27. Lisa

Everyone needs a little help sometimes. When my husband and I were in our 20’s we had enough money to support ourselves and give to others. I never thought I would be on the receiving end. Fast forward 15 years and with this bad economy we had to close our business and were in financial trouble. We will be forever grateful for the help we have received from numerous people. My husband went back to school and will graduate Dec 11th with an MBA degree, so things are looking up. We are still able to give to others in small ways. It’s so wonderful when we all help one another!

    • Kaelen C.

Awesome! I’m getting my MBA this December too. My husband and I are in our twenties and it’s tough cause both of us are working and in school, plus we have a one year old to run after! God does provide though, in big ways and in small, even when I don’t recognize it.

  28. kit

    wonderful! ๐Ÿ™‚

  29. dawn

Chrissy you ROCK!!! What a thoughtful and generous heart you have. Fantastic!

  30. MrsRockNRoll

Yay Chrissy and Yay Collin. I have gone through phases of other saving blogs, and I always come back to Hip2save. I love how genuine this blog is.

  31. Shawna R

I watched the movie “Pay It Forward” again this weekend and it re-inspired me that one person can make a “ripple” that indeed can continue on and on… ๐Ÿ™‚

  32. Klaire

That was such a nice story! It’s good to know there are still selfless people out there like Chrissy.

  33. Kaelen C.

So sweet! It’s awesome to be perusing a blog where graciousness is highlighted. I have the feeling that quite a few Hipsters are ready to share the blessings they’ve been given.

You know, it would be awesome to have a place on Hip2Save where people could go to share/trade their coupons. For example, I save Huggies and Pampers reward codes, but only use the Pampers codes, and so would love to pass the Huggies codes on.

    • Kim

Would love the codes! Could you email me at kimawatkins@yahoo.com
I have a pampers code you could have

  34. LILY

ITS GREAT TO SEE THAT THERE IS MORE THAN ONE NICE PERSON IN THIS WORLD. I AM WRITTING THIS BECAUSE I AM A MOTHER OF 4 AND ON FEBRUARY MY HUSBAND WAS ARRESTED BECAUSE THEY THOUGH HE WAS SOMEONE ELSE. I HAD TO SELL MY CAR AND DOWNGRADE TO A SMALL CAR TO BE ABLE TO PAY A LAWER TO GET HIM OUT AND HIS NAME CLEAR. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND EVERY WEEKEND WE HAD TO DRIVE TO LANCASTER TO VISIT HIM I WAS PREGNANT AND ONE WEEKEND THE CAR WAS HEATING UP, SO WE STOP IN PALMDALE AT A SHOPPING CENTER TO BUY SOME BABY BLAKETS BECAUSE MY DUE DATE WAS APROCHING TO MY SURPRISE I WAS BEEN WATCHED BY AN ANGEL SHE STARTED TO SPEAK TO ME AND WHEN I WAS GOING TO PAY SHE ASK IF THAT WAS ALL I SAID YES THATS ALL I CAN GET FOR RIGHT NOW. AS I WAS WALKING OUT SHE CALL MY KIDS OVER AND SHE GAVE AN ENVOLOPE FULL OF DOLLAR COINS, SHE SAID SHE WAS GOING TO GIVE THEN OUT BUT SHE SAW ME WITH ALL THE KIDS AND SAID THAT THEY NEED IT SOME ESPENDING MONEY. SHE WALK ME TO MY CAR AND NOTICE THAT THE CAR WAS SMOKING AND OFFER TO HAVE IT CHECK BY SOMEONE. I GOT THE CAR CHECK AND THEN SHE GAVE HER PHONE NUMBER TO CALL HER IN CASE I NEEDED SOMETHING ELSE OR IF MY CAR WOULD BREAK DOWN. I WILL NEVER FORGET HER . FOR ME SHE IS THE ONLY HELP I EVER RECEIVE.

  35. Kayla

I am a first generation college student and a prospective med school student from a very low income family. While it is nice to use this blog to help me save money on a tight budget now, it is even nicer to know that one day I will have the skills and financial capability to give to others also :]

  36. kari

I NEED SOME HELP PLEASE, WHERE CAN I FINE SOME INFO REGARDING THIS ISSUE MY SISTER IS DEAF AND SHE MARRY HER DEAF HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART THEY HAVE 3 KIDS AND NOBODY WANTS TO HIRE THEM, ON TOP ONE OF THE KIDS WAS BORN DIABETIC SO AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH THEY ARE RUSHING TO THE HOSPITAL SINCE HE IS 18 MONTHS OLD THEY NEVER HAVE ENOGH MONEY TO PAY THE RENT AND TODAY SHE CALLED ME CAUSE SHE WAS HUNGRY AND THERE WASNT ENOUGH FOOD THEY LIVE IN MIAMI.

    • Annie Moose

Social services is definitely the first step. Have her apply for food and/or cash assistance. They can help your sister and her family with finding a lower cost place to live as well as help out with the medical side of things.

      • kari

        thanks annie

    • Laura

I agree with Annie, Kari. Tell her to go to Social Services, in Tx it is the Health and Human Services Dept that handles it but not sure for FL. They will help her apply for food stamps and medicaid, which will give her baby health insurance. It’s a lot of paperwork, but a huge huge help when you are struggling!

    • Annette

There will be at least one food pantry in her area as well where she can go and get some groceries (with limitations). I agree that she should contact her local Dept of Human Services/Social Services but if she has a computer, she can do a search for agenices that can assist in that area. Many areas now have a 211 system (where you can call 211..even with a TTD.. to get options for resources in the community…). Good luck… keep looking around, she’ll find assist. She could also ask the counselor/social worker at the kids’s school for some guidance on where to get resources…

      • kari

thanks u so much i will help her w this info u guys rock

  37. kelly

  40. Victoria U.

Collin thanks for sharing this and for your infinite kindness, compassion and understanding. It is because of you that so many readers come back again and again to your site. You and your site have become a permanent part of so many lives because you are truly the role model for giving back.

    • CT

What is the Amazon Pampers codes from and what are they for? I have not heard/seen of any.

      • Swathi

Heard some magazines have 20% off Amazon diaper purchase coupons.

  42. Betty

Thats really awesome! I love when people are so selfless its wonderful! Chrissy was VERY generous, thats really sweet! It really does inspire when people do things like that… even when they are little things like being a coupon fairy. I found a coupon for a product that my bf really wanted to try on the shelf and he was really happy and when I got to the cash I saw someone buying a rotisserie chicken, I happened to have a $2 off Tyson rotisserie chicken in my purse so I whipped it out and handed it to him. My bf jumped out of the car the other night at the burger king drive thru to give the guy in front of him a coupon for free chicken tenders, since he had 2 and didnt need them both. I like to hope that that guy went on to do something nice for someone else when he remembers the nice thing done for him. Its really nice to see (and feel) it go on like that. Doing thoughtful things really is contagious. My bf and I cant afford to do much financially to help anyone but thanks to Collin and coupons, we get the privilege of being able to help our friends with food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies and donate too! Its a really great feeling to be able to help someone, and a smile is such a great reward ๐Ÿ˜€ Even if you cant afford to help out with items, an idea that doesnt cost a thing is to collect some people who could use any help they can get’s addresses and sign them up for free samples and free offers you see posted right here. our friends LOVE getting surprises in their mailboxes! Any little thing you can do to help someone else is well worth it!

    • Z

Coupon fairy…love it…the littlest things can make such a huge impression on someone.

  43. Chasidy

This is awesome! Thank you for sharing this Colin. It’s so nice to see people giving and sharing things. It definitely put a smile on my face first thing this morning! ๐Ÿ™‚

  48. CT

    Collin,
You really do have the best readers, but that is only because you attract those people with your generosity and kindness. I follow many blogs and by far yours is my absolute favorite. Your the best!

  49. Katie

This made me cry. Thank you for sharing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  50. shelly

WOW! How unbelievably kind. It is so rare to find those that will simply help because they can, but more importantly because they want to. That was an amazing act of kindness!
I can relate to many of these stories. My husband & I have always been strapped for cash but now, because of the type of job he has & because the economy seems to continue on a downwward spiral, we are struggling even more. He works as a car salesman & as you can all imagine, the sales of cars are not that great. I also work a full time job & we have two children (2 years old & 7 months old) in daycare (WOW is it ever expensive!!). My husband has made the decision to go back to school in hopes of getting work at the local nuclear plant. He is 2 years away from completing his degree. Once he is finished with school, I plan to go back to school & finish my degree, secondary education. It is such a day to day struggle & we constantly feel as though we will never have any breathing room. My husband actually told me yesterday that he isn’t sure where the money is going to come from so that we can pay the house payment (on top of formula, baby food, diapers, wipes & pull-ups). We’ve had our moments of “tight money months”, but nothing like this! But, we keep moving forward, praying & tithing to our church. We know the Lord will provide the help & answers we need. It’s so difficult to see the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. I’ve even had to cut back on buying coupons because we didn’t need to spend the extra money, which in turn causes us to pay full price!
Thank you for sharing such an inspirational & touching moment from two complete strangers on your bolg. You have such a positive bolg & I love to read it & read all the helpful info (and stories) from you & your readers…almost makes it feel as though we all aren’t strangers…just long distant friends ๐Ÿ™‚
God bless all of you & I pray that all your struggles will end soon!

    • holi

Check in to WIC for Help with formula & baby food, plus food for your 2 yr old. This is the national WIC site that can guide you to your local WIC office. http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/ The site explains how WIC works and what you will receive when you participate!

Income guidelines are totally different than the food stamps guidelines & by that I mean the income limits are higher than most people think. I work for Michigan WIC. We see all different types of families & most families are working!!

      • Z

I will pray with you ๐Ÿ™‚ At my house the poverty line something we have looked up at for years ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a husband with addiction problems who has a job that is enonomy dependent as well. He makes good money…sometimes…but I rarely see it. I have my faith and my children and everything falls into place no matter how many times I fear it won’t. Shelly, you have a husband who is helping you carve out a better future for you and your kids. That is a blessing. I admire him for going to college! It is hard to do in any situation, but even harder with a family. Hold onto each other!

In the meantime, Holi is right. Check out WIC. I did this when I was pregnant with my 1st child and it helped me A LOT! When I went I also found out about an “Angel Store” associated with our program that helped me with diapers and other baby items. Even if you do not qualify for WIC, it could lead you to other programs that could be your gift from God. Also, do not be afraid to ask for help. It can be difficult, but know in your heart that you are the kind of person who will give back when possible. And the Hip2Save readers are good people. I will not be the only one praying with you! I know it ๐Ÿ™‚
