Yikes! I can’t imagine spending that much on meat! $2.50/lb is about the top we’ll go!

Well it is seafood. Seafood is more expensive..

    • Sarah Fidler

And you aren’t going to ever find shrimp for 2.50 a pound. Sorry. lol

But you are getting natural shrimp as opposed to ones that have preservatives. The cost always goes up when things don’t have as much shelf time but you have to take into account that you are eating healthier, just like when you buy organic veggies or fruits. It’s too bad that it costs more at times to eat better! 🙁

(I am saying “natural” for this because it is Whole Foods and they are known for being more on the pricey side as compared to places like Walmart).

Not to mention, the US commercial seafood industry is heavily regulated-so your guarenteed quality product; opposed to farm raised shrimp imports that contain chloramphincol – an antibiotic that keeps shrimp from dying in fecal contaminated water that also is a known cause of Leukemia – Wild Caught is the way to go.

Just a heads up – often times these sales are on the shrimp that you’re going to need to de-vein and peel – it can be a pain and it can take a long time. I bought some on sale last year because we only buy our seafood from Whole Foods & thought I was saving some money – but like a half hour into cleaning the shrimp I decided I would rather pay about $2 more, get them from the frozen section and have the work already done for me. HTH!

This shrimp is normally $14.99 a pound. My husband and I are making the trip today and stocking up!

    I mean, afterall
“Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. There’s shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan-fried, deep-fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That’s…that’s about it.” – Bubba, Forrest Gump

anyone can provide a current match up with coupons so that we can “score” good deals while getting the shrimps?

DD picked up 2 lbs for me today. They were delicious! I had about 9 shrimps boiled in water just til pink and walmart’s cocktail sauce. Tomorrow, am cooking them in butter!
