Perfect timing! Thank you so much!

Does anyone know if you can roll the office depot rewards (use these rewards to purchase other items with 100% rewards)?

    • Anonymous

I don’t think you can, but I wish you could. I have some rewards I need to use this month.

  3. Stephanie

I took a chance and decided to try their rewards program, never have before, hope it’s good! I wish I knew about the 2 per person per day because I could really used more of the hanging folder bins.

  4. cdawnt

I’ve never used these rewards before. So I gave it a try in December and got the free batteries deal. How come when I pull up my rewards account it says this under my purchase history:
Total Purchase Amount $55.60, Reward Amount $0. Current Reward Amount $0*? Wouldn’t it be Current Reward Amount $55.60* with an asterisk meaning reward amount will be issued if more than $10? I made sure that I ordered the correct batteries.

    • Vicki O

My account is the same way. I still have the ad from the batteries and it says to allow up to 6 weeks to post to your account. I figure I will give them a few more weeks and if it doesn’t post I will call them.

    • Kathryn

I did the 100% rewards back promotion last time they did it (I think around October 1st) and my purchase showed the exact same thing online and I was so worried I wouldn’t get it and I had spent over $100.00 on the various stuff. It did eventually change and show that it was the promotional 100% rewards and I got credit, but it did take the 6 weeks. I think the reason they wait this long is so that your time to return the item runs out. I worried the whole 6 weeks, but it did show up & now it is showing I will receive over 100.00 in rewards when they issue them this month.

      • cdawnt

Thank goodness! Appreciate you letting me know. But you know, if they wait until 6 weeks to post it so you can’t return anything then what if they never give me my credit and then it’s too late to carry the stuff back? They should at least enter the dollar amounts as Pending instead of just $0 Rewards pending. I hope my batteries go through and then I don’t think I’m going to try this again. I bought three sets so over $150 total so I’m going to be out quite a bit if they don’t give me the rewards. I am wanting to use my rewards to buy a laser printer, guess that will be my next obstacle to have to deal with. Are the rewards fairly easy to redeem?

        • Daria

I use office depot a lot to made copies (about 5-8000 a quarter) so I use my rewards for those. Never had an issue with them being credited (but does take a while for the 100%ones) and they are given as a reward certificate which is essentially used as a gift card. Super easy. Make sure you register online so you can print your rewards certificate faster.

      • Christie

Hi Katryn, I posted down below if you would like to see my original post. At least at Staples from what i was told if you tried to use that 100.00 reward…you could butif you tried to roll them and buy new rewards items the next 6 weeks you would not get credit again for them. I have to go there tomorrow I will ask my manager friend…I hope the girl was misinformed but I didn’t want to loss that much money unless I knew I was about to make a big purchase like I just did.

        Findle Fire $199.99
        Staples rewards – $125.00
        gift card $28.00
        Staples CC promo- $50.00
        New Kindle Fire – $2.00 – YIPPPEEEEE! 🙂

So I was just wondering if the other office chains are the same way the 2 time around you do not get credit if it is a freebie??

  5. mistrcheap

    Hello from MISTERCHEAP!

This promotion allows for TWO PER SKU PER DAY to be ordered. For instance, the Energizer AA and Energizer AAA are DIFFERENT SKU #’s and you can order BOTH types and get credit for the rewards on both AA and AAA batteries if you like.

Same applies to all items. You can see the COMPLETE LIST of items at this link. Again, it’s limit 2 per SKU PER DAY, even if the items are similar, as long as they are different SKU#’s you can order 2 of each type (for example, tote boxes in DIFFERENT colors).

    https://www.officedepot.com/promo/list5.do?listtype=WB

Items purchased now in the rewards promotion will be included in the 1st quarter rewards earnings which pay out in late April 2012. So it will be 3.5+ months before you will get your rewards check, please be patient! You can track your rewards at http://www.myworkliferewards.com

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all Hip2Save Members!

Someone posted elsewhere that if you spend say $50 on batteries, then you have to spend $50 on something else that isn’t a rewards item within the same transaction, I hope that isn’t true. I read the workliferewards website, but I didn’t see anything like that in the rules. I did 3 transactions for the batteries a week or so apart so I didn’t order more than my daily allotment. My husband wanted all these batteries for our stockpile, but I’d really like to have a laser printer with my rewards.

      • mistrcheap

That is simply not the case. No other purchases of “non rewards” items are required to participate or get the rewards.

If you spend $107 in free after rewards items NOW (on 1/1/12), you will get the rewards check in late April 2012 which will be valid to 7/31/12. During that period, you can order whatever you like with the rewards check (with some exclusions, like gift cards) from officedepot.com (free ship at $50+) or instore with the certificate. The nice thing about the OD certificate is….it works like a gift card. You can spend as little or as much of it at a time and you still keep the remainder (just use of all it before it expires or you forfeit what’s left).

You can also apply allowable coupons to the rewards spending to “stretch” your dollars. For instance, you can buy $75 worth of KCUPS and use a $15 off $75 coupon to spend only $60 from your gift card at that point in time. So in essence, you’ll have gotten $75 worth of gift card spending for just $60 with the coupon and only $60 will be deducted from your amount.

        • cdawnt

That sounds great! Thank you for explaining.

I have the same question as Ing
      Ing says:
      January 1, 2012 at 10:23 pm MST
I have never tried this rewards program. Are the rewards only to be used for future office depot purchases or do they actually give you money back? Thanks in advance.

  6. Megan Casto

I am leery to try doing their “free” products after rewards again. Last time I did, I was careful and only got the item listed on the sign in the store. Sure enough, I got zero rewards. They said it was because the store labeled it wrong. Well, that didn’t help me a bit. 🙁

  7. katie

unlike officemax the rewards don’t roll. So if you spend $50 on products that are free after rewards when you spend the $50 rewards you received from your purchase if you spend them on other free after rewards products you don’t get any rewards on your second purchase if you use previous rewards to pay. I found out the hard way and now I stick with officemax and just roll the rewards (I have personally rolled them 4 or 5 times)

    • Daria

I wonder if this is only on 100% rewards items. I use my rewards all the time for copies and other items, which generate a 10% reward, and never had any issues.

  8. Ing

I have never tried this rewards program. Are the rewards only to be used for future office depot purchases or do they actually give you money back? Thanks in advance.

  9. dani

I saved up $150 in rewards and used a 30% off purchase from Office Max on a $300 desk right before Christmas. (They accept competitors coupons) So I got $90 off and used my $150 rewards and spent $60 plus tax on my new desk! I love Office Depot! Now I am saving my rewards to get a new printer.

It does take a long time for them to show up and they never sent me an email saying that I even had any rewards. You need to stay on top of it and go to their website to check your rewards but the good thing is that you can do some of their reward items EVERY DAY! I bought alot of K-cups coffee and batteries and bottled water this fall to get my desk. All things I would have bought anyway. I only buy 100% reward items.

  10. Kelly

So… I looked all through the Rewards website trying to find the answer to my question and didn’t. Is it true that if you use Rewards to purchase say.. batteries which is supposed to give Rewards, you won’t get the rewards on the batteries?
Anyone have the answer? Thank you.

    • Jaclyn

Wondering the same thing! I got a $30 gift card for Office Depot through FB awhile back. I wanted to spend the $30 on something that had “rewards” & then use those “rewards” on a new “reward” every quarter. Wish I knew all the ins & outs of Office Depot! 😉

  11. Jaclyn

There is an Office Depot online coupon $10 off $50 available….42279604. It expires 1/3. If you want the free shipping with $50 purchase then you need to actually have $60, so when the coupon is applied it will be $50 for the free shipping. However you can use this coupon & select “pick up” instead. I did notice the price on the File Totes change from 11.99 to $12.49 (colored ones) when I selected “pick up”. It does show $12.49-$12.99 in my Southern California ad. Hope this helps save someone more $$$! 😉

    • Jaclyn

If you check your emails there is a $5 off $25 Staples coupon that came today. I used it at Office Depot today as they take competitors coupons. You can print more than 1 so you can use one at Staples & one at Office Depot. 😉

    • Jaclyn

Ok, I got more info, hope this helps. I called Office Depot at 1-866-322-3225 to find out more about the Worklife Rewards…..NOT liking them, well not “them”- they were very nice, the “Rewards”! I had a $30 gift card, bought the file totes today….apparently I will NOT get rewards for the totes because it is not “NEW MONEY”. You have to use cash, credit card, check, etc. Using “Rewards” & “Gift Cards” will NOT produce a “Reward”. Well I don’t really want plastic storage containers for this price, so I guess I will be returning them. As far as the $2 ink cartridge rewards…in order to receive your rewards you have to have $10+ in rewards. Then you have to have to make 1 purchase within the same quarter to even get them. I think I am going to use my $30 wisely (w/ a competitor coupon) to get myself organized for the new year & stick to Staples! At least Staples carries my Kodak ink! 😉

  12. Vanessa

So I signed up for the rewards program at office depot. I tried to sign in but it didn’t recognize the information. After a few try’s i clicked forgot password. still nothing. Anyone else have the problem?

    • Stephanie

I had the same problem, you have to create a worklife account and an office depot account and then during checkout enter the member number for the worklife account.

      • Vanessa

        Thank you stephanie

  13. Christie

Does anyone know if you buy a rewards item, if you will get to use the reward on a another reward item in the future and apply the reward on the next reward promo?

The reason I ask, I was shopping a lot at Staples and the other day, the cashier informed me that if I purchased a reward item with my reward money..I would not get new reward money for that purchase…in essence you can’t roll them like the drug stores. I have noticed the Staples rebates have dried up significantly and I think a lot of “hippers” (LOL) are unaware of this and will lose big money…especially If you didn’t really need that item and was just wanting a freebie.

I know this is confusing…make sense????

And I want to make sure we know the rules and then we can make educating decisions about where to shop and not lose big money.

It is worth asking each store..because I have doing this for months and no one told me…so they is no telling how much I have lost thinking I would get it back in a month or so.

Please advise if you know anything about Office Depot or Office Max or this issue with the rewards.

    Thank you kindly,

    Christie

  14. Matt

The Office Depot “rewards” program changed a year ago and has so many conditions and requirements, it can be confusing.

I have a $10 off $50 coupon. If I use this to purchase these items, will I still get 100% back in rewards?

Last time I did this it took months (more than the 6 weeks they said) for the rewards to post, yet Office Depots return policy is only 30 days; I’m not going to buy this stuff and then find out it’s not eligible for rewards.
