yea those $2/1 freshmatics give you free compact device only packs at walmart, $1.97.

  2. karen

I feel like there are no good coupons this week and I’m debating on whether buying the paper or not. I mean, I know the pepsico coupons are rare, but everything is so unhealthy!
Am I the only one who feels this way?
do you guys think these inserts have potential? lol I’m debating…

    • whitephantom

nope me too karen. i am only interested in the quaker one int he pepsico. I don’t normally drink soft drinks or eat chips, etc. But i am getting the paper for the schick coupons and pantene and a couple other items.

      • mouni

I’ve noticed that insert coupons aren’t as good as they used to be. The internet is where everything is now. If only the expiration dates were longer for IPs

    • Fawn

I would say if you are only wanting one may be two Qs it may not be worth paying for the paper but maybe someone around you will be willing to share the Qs you want. I am lucky enough to have family who like to read the paper so they give me their inserts. I do agree however that they have kind of gone down hill. My family has some pretty hefty food allergies so we don’t use the food Qs very much but the household and personal come in handy. I feel inserts kind of go in waves of great to not so great give them a month or so and then things will be great again getting ready for all the easter and summer deals.

      • Angie

I have the same thoughts. I require a gluten free diet so there are not many coupons for me. I usually use the ones for eggs, yogurt, butter, and vegetables. I have noticed there aren’t as many coupons as there used to be. I’ve noticed that manufacturers are cutting back on the availablity. Even if you email to request coupons, often they say there aren’t any at this time. Didn’t used to be that way. 🙁

        • Michelle

Before facebook and printables the best way to get coupons was to email customer service with a comment on a product and your address and get mailed coupons. Doesn’t work any more. Every once and awhile I try (mostly with baby and cat products) and get disappointing results every time.

    • Sue

      Yup!

    • Cyndi

I sure use more of the printable coupons/ product coupons from other sources more than the ones for the paper, for that reason. I also get a subscription to the Sunday only paper for $1/ week, though, so it works out OK even if I only use a couple of coupons from any given week.

And, then, occasionally there will be some really useful ones in the paper for healthier foods, like Fawn suggested. The All You magazine is similar ~ sometimes it has many coupons I like and use, sometimes not, but I think it balances out.

  3. katie

I canceled my subscription to the paper… i have this massive stack of coupons and ive used maybe…. 3 of them? all the coupons are for prepared foods that are usually terrible for you. my boyfriend and I are both chefs- we make our own food. and the tiny bit of prepared food we do eat is usually organic and natural, save for a few of our gulity pleasures, hence the 3 coupons ive used. i was paying 6 dollars a month for sat/sun paper and there was just no way that i was going to ever be able to save enough to justify it.

has this happened to anyone else? how do you coupon if you dont eat junk prepared stuff??

    • mary

I use the newspaper Q’s mostly for personal care and cleaning items, also to get my occasional chocolate fix 🙂

    • Ashley

bless you people who can cook! LOL I mostly coupon for staples (pasta ect) and for drug store stuff so I can afford to get my tofu and such 🙂

    • Nicole

Occasionally I’ll use a food coupon for yogurt/dairy items or a pantry staple, but largely.. it’s for personal care & cleaning items. Luckily, when I fill up my car with gas at a local chain they give out free papers.. so I don’t actually pay for the newspaper!

      • mel

I actually read the paper, not to just get the coupons! I cancelled my subscription and just buy 1 Sunday paper, $2 each week. My husband, where he works is able to get me extras if it happens to be a good insert weekend.

I find lately though, I’ve mainly been cutting out health/beauty & cleaning items. Last week, I cut 2 coupons – the $5 Precise and $1 off Dial, which I gave to my sister. The rest is intact, for stuff I’ll probably never use or buy, like land o frost lunch meat.. blech and Keebler Cookies – I much prefer to make my own. I don’t even have a craving for Oreos anymore since I’ve weeded out the junk from my diet. I’m so tired of Pillsbury & Totinos coupons every other week!

Anyway, there are from time to time good food coupons, like canned / frozen veggies, tuna, pasta, rice, eggs, chicken, juice.

    • prowacked

for those of you complaining about the newspaper coupons being all processed foods, it sounds like you guys need to start checking out whole foods. they have store coupons on their websites and http://www.mambosprouts.com has organic coupons to print. I’m not sure if hip2save does whole foods matchups (don’t remember) but they are out there. tofu was super discounted with coupons just last week.

      • Sue

That’s great except all the coupons are from coupons.com so I can’t print because I use Linux. I guess my computer has to get sick too if I want to use coupons!

        • Michelle

Start looking into a cheap (even refurb) netbook just for coupon printing. Spend 50 once to never have all of this junk touch your regular computer. That’s like paying 75% off of one virus clean up from geek squad.

      • Jen K.

I love using Whole Foods coupons, especially since they will stack with manufacturer’s and they usually have the booklet in store so no printing needed (thought I can pdf them and print as needed, so easier). Yesterday I bought 2 Nature’s Path organic granolas that usually are $5.49 each, on sale for 2/$6 and used a $1.50 off 2 WF coupon and a $1 manufacturer for each! Did the same for the Imagine organic soup that was on sale. Whole Foods has awesome deals…

    • Cyndi

I’m glad to see more people expressing these concerns! This is why I started my site, and as mentioned above, mambo sprouts is a great resource, but there are many others. Some magazines, and also the “trade” journals that are free at the health food store, include coupons specifically for organic items.

Coupons ON the products are pretty frequent, too. Muir Glen is one that regularly has $1 off 2, and Kroger keeps having them on sale, which combines nicely!

  4. DeAnna

I use about 90% of the coupons for household or personal items which really makes it worth it to me.

  5. Kidsallgone

I actually enjoy reading the paper 😉
Plu, I was buying our Sunday paper for $2 & when I heard that my paper was having a sale for $2 for 7 days a week, I jumped on that 🙂

  6. Cindy

I am looking forward to the razor coupons. I use a lot of the personal care ones for drug store deals or to get fuelperks from the grocery store. I was excited about the coupon for Life Water, but it really isn’t that spectacular.

  7. CristiC

I like to have a couple of fast food items in the freezer for a quick fix, when we’re all on the move. I hate processed food also, and prefer to make home cooked meals. But I saved a fortune on Pizza Rolls, and the kids love them. Easy for the babysitter to fix also. The personal products are what I like. Having 4 girls we go though a lot of shampoo!

  8. Lisa Moore

If a coupon reads “one per purchase” that means you can use one coupon for each item purchased, correct? I tried this at CVS today and the cashier rudely insisted I was doing something wrong by trying to use 2 coupons for 2 items. (Each coupon was for $2 off 1 L’oreal Paris face product and I was trying to purchase 2 powders) and when I politely tried to explain to him that “one per purchase” meant one coupon for each item purchased he kept repeating: “Just so you know, you’re wrong!”, in a very rude tone of voice! What is the best way to handle this situation? Contact the corporate office?

    • Crescent City Couponer

Definitely call corporate – 1-800-SHOP-CVS (1-800-746-7287) Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM ET. The in-store solution would be to ask for the manager. CVS personnel are usually well trained and very knowledgeable. I’d also keep a copy of the store’s coupon policy on hand for quick reference in situations like this.

    • Christa

Agreed. Definitely contact corporate. Sometimes when the cashier says that to me I ask, “How many items did I purchase? Two? Yes then I’m allowed to use two coupons.” Ask to speak to a supervisor if the cashier still doesn’t agree. That sucks that he was so rude to you.

    • Beth

My response to ignorant salespeople in that situation is a polite: “No, what you are referring to is ‘one coupon per transaction.’ ‘One coupon per purchase’ means one coupon per item purchased.” Plus of course the corporate coupon policy as a back-up but I’ve never needed to get it out of my car when I tell them the correct meaning (tho I have needed that for other situations).

      • Beth

ps, I HATE rude sales people, but I try very hard to always be polite back. Plus I have 5 grown kids so I can pull an authoritative tone + look when I think that might help.

    • Dee Dee

This happened to me in Robbinsdale,MN. I went to 3 other CVS stores that day though and they all assured me you could use one coupon for each item and I didn’t need to do different transactions.

    • Ana S

I agree w everyone call corporate =) I have had many issues using coupons in all the CVSs close to me and every time there is an issue I call them and they fix it.

    • guest24

Hey, That guy is in Houston at my store. I did get a hold of Corporate, now the manager of that store is my buddy, and things are much better. Good Luck.

    • kari

why do they make it hard on us couponers I hate that they do not know our goals dreams or situations for using coupons, before i started coupons I used horrible brand name just to save $1.00 or $2 I really hate mean cashiers!!!

  9. nancy davis

  10. Karen

No PepsiCo insert in my neck of the woods (NH)….of course, there is always the possibility someone swiped them, wouldn’t be the first time…

  11. Diana Lee

I am thinking of canceling our paper. I have not received hardly any inserts since the beginning of the year. There were none in the paper today. I feel cheated.

  12. Anonymous

Is anyone else missing a lot of these coupons from their Sunday paper?? I live on the west coast and just bought 2 newspapers– both are missing some of these coupons…. like Allegra, Nature Made, Schick, etc.

Anyone else having the same problem? 🙁

    • Lisa

I’ve noticed that if I buy the local paper (Daily Breeze) I only get about half of the coupons posted. But when I buy the LA Times I usual get them all

  13. irene

The Qs are definitely lesser in value and for highly processed foods. If the general consensus is they are hardly being used and paper sales drop, there should be a correction in the coupon system at some point. Just like the change that took place when Extreme Couponing became mainstream. Let’s hope.

  14. Cynthia

Im confused, isn’t this the last Sunday of the month? Where is The p&g?

    • Leslie

I thought it was the 1st Sunday of the month that the P & G included their insert in the paper.

  15. lynda

I found out from our local paper that the coupon companies sometimes short the newspapers with inserts. They also dictate where the coupons are delivered as well. after been shorted inserts at the local conveince store near where I live I usually just go down to the local newpaper office and I can buy the Sunday paper with the the correct inserts but I still have to make sure they have the right inserts in them before I pay for them. But I only buy one or two if that weeks are light coupons and 3 or 4 if the right coupons are in them. We have a group that meets one night once every week to trade coupons and coupon bargain stories.

  16. Leslie

When I started couponing 3-4 years ago, hip2save and Thekrazycouponlady were still on blogspot. The coupons that came in the paper were higher valued and the sales at the stores to match were better and more frequent. I’ve seen a rapid decline in both coupons and sales since that horrible show came on TLC. I have to deal with the increase in local coupon usuage as well as the people from Canada (BC and Victoria) coming down and couponing here. Sometimes stock runs out Sunday morning and isn’t replenished for the duration of the sale and they don’t want to hand out rain checks anymore!

  17. chitownelle125

Is anyone else missing the Schick coupon? I’m in Florida and did not receive it. Grrr that is the one I wanted the most this week!
