i called customer service to see if they could do anything about it and they said no, that the shipping charge is generated from the original prices.

i returned a few items that didnt fit got a giff certificate for my retuns and they filed for some kind of bankruptcy so they could start again after a year i still cant use my gift certificates that totaled $70.00 i had to file papers and still havent heard anything
Their stuff is always super cute, and they sell their clothes in small enough sizes. It’s always hard to find stuff in my size that’s cute and not necessarily in the junior’s section. Thanks Collin!
I have the same problem. It’s hard to find pants that fit without something sparkly written on the butt! Have you tried shopping at H&M? The European sizing tends to run a bit smaller.

IT SAYS THAT YOU GET 15% FOR SIGNING UP WITH YOUR EMAIL….. I DID AND NEVER GOT THAT? HAS ANYONE FOUND A WORKING FREE SHIP CODE OR 15% CODE?
It took like an hour for me to get the 15% off code email. However, it says “cannot be combined with other discounts”. Not sure if you could use it anyway. I looked everywhere and could not find a free shipping code.
Just tried the 15% off code… if you try to use it, it takes away the 80% discount when you check out.

My order was for $303 worth of stuff, 14 items, for $70 and $26 in shipping. I’m still considering it, because even with the unreal shipping charges, mine still comes to $6.85 an item. Still a great deal.
I usually get a few people to go in with me and we share the shipping charges. Either way, it is a save for me. I have been watching the tassel belt for years, the belt is $2 along with about $2.18 for shipping. In most cases I would not find this price at a second hand store so this is a great deal.
Total was $19.04 & shipping was $15.86. Not much of a deal for 3 items.
I’ve bought a few things from Newport News and was not impressed. I got a swimsuit and it was way too small but the jacket I got in the same size was too large. I bought a coat and shortly after getting it the buttons started to fall of. Not only that but my mom started getting charges on her credit card every month from them for something she didn’t even realize she signed up for. I wouldn’t buy from them. But I also rarely buy clothes from online. I like to try them on and make sure they fit and look good.
Shipping is CRAAAAZY…but I bought my stuff anyways 🙂 I bought 4 necklaces for Christmas gifts and a pair of leggings for me. $50 for 5 items…$10 per item! I’m happy.
i bought 9 items (60 dollars) 25.00 shipping but that equates to 9.44 per item…thats cheap but I agree you are getting cheated for the shipping.

Does anyone have a lot of experience on how the sizes run? I am 115-120 lbs 5’4″ and usually take small or medium and a 3 in pants. I like a lot of their sweaters and may be a good deal if I can get enough to make shipping worth it.
I couldn’t get the discount to show either. Called customer service and discount is still valid, after checkout the discount still didn’t come off. I called back and the lady was so rude I just cancelled my entire order.

I recently received the shirt I ordered from them. It was damaged. I am having a really hard time with customer service to get a replaced item or to return it. They want me to pay to ship a new one or they will not return the money I paid to have the original shirt shipped. Is anyone else having a problem with them?
While I feel bad for you and the others who have had bad luck with this company, I just want to say how very thankful I am for this site. A lot of us say how much we love getting the deals, coupons and freebies, but this link in particular really pointed out to me how great it is to have this whole community of trustworthy couponers who voice their opinions and stop us from time to time from making really stupid decisions.
I have a new corporate/public position at work which is forcing me (happily) to upgrade my wardrobe, and am in need of a great new clothes deal. The night this link was posted I had a $160 order ready to checkout with some really nice looking clothes. But after checking this link periodically for a 3 hour span and seeing how many people have had really bad experiences with them I decided to make it a miss.
And now, two weeks later, people are still posting how bad this company is. I am so grateful to have dodged this company and potentially saved myself a good little chunk of money.

I have been shopping at Newport News for at least 8 years. I absolutely love the brand. They recently went under the Speigel umbrella, and their prices have increased a little over the past year and a half, but the quality is truly worth the price. I have never, ever, ever paid full price for a single item from NN and have only returned 3 or 4 items total out of all the years I’d shopped there. The sizes are on the mark and I have received the very most compliments on my NN coats, leather, shoes, handbags, dresses, slacks, blouses– swimsuits even! I made a habit of placing the super expensive items (leather coats, gowns, etc) in my wishlist (I think they did away with the wishlist 6 months ago) and after several months there would be a flash sale and I could look up the shipping coupons and I would end up paying only 20% of the item’s cost. I have at least a dozen coats from NN thanks to this method and 3/4’s are leather. My final example on why Newport News is in fact, fabulous, and completely worth buying your shopping cart (on sale, of course) even if you can’t dig up a shipping code… There’s currently a pair of tan wedge knee-high fur (faux) lined, suede (real) boots with buckles for $180… I bought them in April (I live in the hellacious heat of TEXAS (Austin, luckily ;)) and they’re sitting in the box until winter. I paid $45.00 for these boots!!!!!! So, summing up my little essay here, now that NN has merged into Speigel, I will continue to attack their sales stock and keep my eyes peeled for the flash sales. While looking like I make 3x’s more than I do…. 🙂
