Phew! As many of you know, it has been a long, long, long time since I have filmed a Coffee with Collin video. But I am here to tell you that I am officially back in action and am hoping to post videos on a more regular basis! πŸ˜€

After moving all the way across the country from North Carolina to Idaho, I can finally say that I feel completely settled in my new home, my kiddos are adjusting to their new schools and making friends, and I am loving being surrounded by family and even some good friends from high school. Life is good!

With that being said, I felt that it was only appropriate to start off the 2012 Coffee with Collin video series with a film about my new life in Idaho. This video will give you a sneak peek into my new home where I will share some tips for maximizing small spaces, as my new home is definitely on the tinier side.

So you know the drill… grab a cup of coffee (or tea or water!), get comfy on your couch and come check out my new life in Idaho! Enjoy!

this is so cute Colin! My husband and I are looking at houses now, and I love how you are making a small house work…so great!

  11. Anne

Collin–this was really inspiring–and brought back so many memories!!
#1) If IKEA is not paying you, they really should be. Love IKEA for all of their cheap space-saving ideas–and you did them well!!!
#2) I grew up in a house with a “Kidville” attic, but since I was the youngest kid, I never got to play upstairs (like my brother & sister). Oh wait, it was jam-packed with my parents “treasures” anyway. No one really got to play in it:)
#3) Loved how you used the photo canvases to ID the space.
#4) Loved how you used a loft bed to give your daughter a darling little kitchen space
    And finally……..
    Welcome back to the NW!!!!!!!

    • Jaime

yes I was thinking the same thing about #1 πŸ™‚

  13. Marcia

Collin, Thank you for the tour of your new digs! Part of why we adore you so much is your willingness to let us see the personal side of you which makes you feel like a friend to us. Your home is adorable and truly does look comfy and nonpretentious. A true reflection of you.

  14. Jenny

You need to show this video to Nate Berkus! He would love to see what you have done with your little house. The colors and decor are AMAZING! I’m so jealous. I moved right around the time you did too but my house is no where near as put together!

I love your videos!!! The secret play area is so cute and laid out very well! With that area it’s like you have 3 bedrooms and a bonus/loft area! I love IKEA! Did you use any IKEA storage bins or baskets in your closets? I’m trying to transform a closet into my scrapbook area!

  19. amanda

  33. Brandy

The your house, my husband and father in law actually built a bed much like the one for your daughter and it cost us around $100.00. She loves it too and calls it her floating bed! She also has a kitchen under hers.

  34. C

Adorable! Id also love to know where you got (or how you made the artwork hanging feature).

    • Pamela

IKEA has those. They are meant to be for hanging curtains.

  35. Jesse

Even though I’ve been a hip2save fan for a year or two now, this was my first hip video- loved it!
I too dig small houses, preferably old ones with character. All I have to say is I have to clean it, so the smaller the better πŸ™‚

  36. sheeba m@DesiSavingMom.com

I loved your video…firstly i have to say you are definitely at ease with the camera(or so it seems) and secondly I am in envy with your family’s home…even if you have a tiny home you have utilized every single inch of it…that’s a lot than what most of us have done…great paint color schemes and utilization of IKEA…Enjoy ur space…

  37. Porsche' Robey

LOVE IT! im so glad coffee with Collin is back! : ) i started out watching your videos online and thats how i found your site! you have a very beautiful home btw! congrats on the smooth move and some very cute ideas! : ) i CANT WAIT until we can afford to build a house of our own and be done with renting! : (

  38. Martina

Loved the video! Your kids are so lucky! Kidville looks awesome and I love that your daughter has an art area. (My parents gave me lots of opportunities to create, which is why I am an artist now)

  39. CC

I love what you’ve done with your new place, Collin!! Thank you for sharing. πŸ™‚

  40. Christa

Such a cute house with fun spaces! Man I wish we had IKEA in NY πŸ™‚

  41. sne3103

    I love the color scheme!

  42. Mrs Kimberly A Walser

Congratulations on your new home you are sooo creative. I also have a smaller home with 5 of us you have gave me some really good ideas. πŸ™‚

  43. Sarah Flowers

The house is without a doubt adorable, but I’m not sure if I’d classify it as “tiny.” Until you live in a 744 square foot 2 bedroom apartment with two others, you can’t really understand the meaning of tiny.

    • Nancy

Five people living in a 1200 sq ft home is 240 sq feet per person.

Three people in 744 sq feet is 248 sq ft pet person.

      I think Collin gets ”tiny”

  44. susanne

Adorbs !! Love the kids “secret” room !!

  45. Cheryl

You should be so proud of such a beautiful house and family! Great job with the blog too!

  46. SK

Collin, I love your house! Bigger is not always better, and your older home is so homey and charming. You’ve put a lot of love into the space and your kids will love growing up there!

  47. A

Your house is great, you did an awesome job! I missed your videos too.

  48. Missy

I’m sorry, was I watching a commercial for Ikea? Honestly…just say Ikea gave you the stuff.

But so glad you and your family are settled into your new home. Looks cute.

  49. Kamila

Great house, love it !!!! Can you decorate my house too ???

  50. sofatchick

I like your new house a lot!
